- Product Care
GORE-TEX® Outerwear Care:
Cleaning your GORE-TEX® garments regularly will extend the life of the product. It will also keep them breathable as dirt and oil can clog the GORE-TEX® membrane over time.
It is critical to wash jackets. Natural oils can damage the GORE-TEX® tape and adhesives causing a peeling effect.
Machine wash warm. Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
Remember to zip all pockets and close all Velcro cuffs before washing to prevent any damage caused by the machine.
Tumble dry on warm setting making sure not to use a high heat setting. Drying on warm will actually reactivate the DWR coating.
GORE-TEX® Performance Shell outerwear is waterproof, lightweight, durable and breathable. It’s designed to provide excellent, long-lasting performance in a wide range of conditions.
Little Parts from the YKK® Fastening Products Group create The Big Difference for our customers — fastening solutions intelligently integrated with the finished product to provide the highest quality, most durable gear. The Little Parts — zippers, metal buttons and snaps, and Nylon buckles — all earn the YKK® brand. The Big Difference begins with their obsession to ensure that every individual component renders maximum value to the finished whole. That commitment instills quality and value into every product. Simms utilizes fasteners built to withstand the harshest environments and YKK® provides the best solutions to meet those needs. All Simms outerwear features nylon YKK® zippers to minimize corrosion and provide high performing, durable wear. www.ykkamerica.com.
Primaloft® Gold insulation maintains 90% of its warmth when wet and provides the highest warmth to weight ratio of any synthetic insulation available.
At Simms, sun protection is a critical component of our sportswear offering. Through a combination of fabric construction, design and finish, we offer a wide range of clothing that features a minimum UPF of 30 (very good) up to UPF of 50 (excellent). UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much of the sun's UV radiation is absorbed. A fabric with a rating of 50 will allow only 1/50th of the sun's UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric will reduce your skin's UV radiation exposure significantly. All of our UPF finishes last the life of the garment, an industry standard of 30 washings.
- Almost Perfect. Review by ThePharmacist
OverallI have worn this jacket just once for cold weather fishing but have worn it about 30 days in a row as my every day winter jacket. I am amazed with the warmth for how lightweight it is. When it came in the mail I was expecting something much bigger with thicker insulation etc. The insulation is the perfect amount! I am tall and skinny so the medium fit me perfect. The only drawback in my opinion is the hood. It seems a bit too shallow and does not cinch well around the face ears to keep wind/rain off of your face.

- Amazing Warm Jacket and Cuts Wind Review by Charleston Redfisher
OverallI bought this jacket because I was tired of wearing about 5 layers in the winter time in Charleston. I fly fish for Reds year round and I found this jacket. It's awesome! I just wear a thin fleece under it on the coldest days and you will almost sweat! Running to different flats on the boat you will not feel the wind and couldn't ask to be more warm. All my buddies are jealous.

- Great jacket with one flaw Review by Nick
OverallThis jacket is incredibly comfortable and versatile. I definitely like that it is cut longer to wear for things besides fishing.
The one thing I don't like is the hood design. It is not very deep from front to back. The only adjustment to tighten the hood is on the back of it, which basically pulls the hood further back from the front of your head rather than cinching it down around your head like my other Simms jackets do. Essentially the more you tighten it the more exposed your forehead and face are.
I bought this to replace my 13 year old Guide jacket as my primary rain coat for fall steelheading. So far the hood does not seem like it will protect my face and glasses from rain all that well.

- Bulkley: Warm, not bulky Review by Pete Pepinsky
OverallOkay, you folks in Alaska, Montana, Idaho and all those other godforsaken cold places may look down your frostbitten noses at those of us in the mountains of Western North Carolina, but we are fluent in cold, too. The Bulkley works. When you first try it on, you may tell yourself "Geez, I paid a lot of money for this featherweight." No, you made a wise investment. Over my ProGuide G4s, with this jacket I'm comfortable in wind, rain and cold. No complaints at all.

- Guide Jacket or Winter Coat? Review by Chuck
OverallThis jacket is amazing! It's replaced my winter coat and will be in my pack all season in Alaska when I'm not wearing it just in case the temps drop! Primaloft is really great stuff! Noticed a few reviews complained about no hand warming pockets but they are there under your front chest pockets. This jacket is pretty well true to size. I'm about 6 ft 190 and Large fits perfect. I have worn this jacket extensively now in temps down to 15 degrees with just a light baselayer (Like a fleece) and the cold didn't bother me at all. I also appreciate that it really doesn't scream wading jacket and can be worn just as a cold weather jacket. Love the black as well.

- Toasty! Review by Justin
OverallThis jacket really is absolutely amazing! Got to the river and the temp read 17° I had a thin base layer and my guide shirt. I put on the bulkley jacket and suited up. After getting ready I realized I was actually too hot. I started to take of my jacket and the client asked me what I was doing. I explained I just got this really cool new jacket from simms and I was actually sweating. I wore the bulkley with a thin base layer all day with temps only reaching 40° and wind coming in at 30 at least. The Primaloft is incredible technology and during the cold times this will be my go to jacket.

- SimmsFan Review by Rob
OverallJust got delivery of my Bulkley Jacket. Very nice! My only concern is the lack of hand warmer pockets on the front. Very lightweight, but will keep you very warm. Good product despite the lack of front pockets.

- Bulkley Jacket Review by Marty Sheppard
OverallI have worn this jacket only a few weeks but love it already. In Eastern Oregon it gets cold and this thing is made for the high desert! It's comfortable and warm. Great addition to my gear. Thanks Simms!
