Director of National Accounts

The Simms organization is growing and we’re looking to fill the Director of National Accounts position. This is a full-time, in-house position that will be based in Bozeman, Montana.

In this role, the Director will be a cultural leader within Simms and our National accounts. This individual will be dynamic in forging relationships that develop strategies for sustainable and sometimes aggressive growth opportunities for each organization. This individual will possess a personality that is strong, passionate, proactive and persistent, yet is most importantly is a good listener who is accommodating, understanding and fair.

Developing relationships and building trust is a critical element in maximizing this role and the potential for Simms to become the ultimate supplier and brand for the retailer. The role will be to create and drive a cohesive path towards the coordination of business communications throughout both Simms and the retail partner’s organization. As a result, this role will lead the planning to obtain business forecasts, purchase orders, and marketing plans to ensure that Go-To-Market campaigns have the highest opportunity for success. It is essential for this individual to be seen and respected as a vital partner in the fishing department’s success and that of Simms.

The Director of National Accounts will communicate regularly with category managers, production, finance, and executive team members within Simms to ensure that planning is in place to deliver upon the national account’s needs. The role will regularly collaborate with the VP of Sales and the National Sales Manager to ensure that the organization is in alignment to support key product investments in the field with in-store sales training, product education, events, and point of sale support to increase brand success at retail and deliver profitable growth for all business parties.

Outcomes of this role include:
  • A pro-active commercialization calendar aligned with the National Accounts to manage the day to day business operations and to launch new products to ensure brand momentum and category growth
  • Product forecasts and purchase orders will be secured to schedule production commitments to meet the needs of the retailer’s in-store and delivery requirements
  • A fully aligned organization within Simms that supports the execution of product deliveries with sales and marketing campaigns to drive sales at retail
  • Regular communication with National Accounts to avoid situations where needs are unmet.
  • Individual is sought out for critical information on business direction and growth opportunities both within Simms and with the National Accounts; A respected source of business opportunities

Successful candidates should possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field
  • 3 -5 years sales planning with national accounts in the fishing and hunting market
  • 7 – 10 years or proven sales experience within the outdoor, hunting and fishing market
  • Experience in working with buying and purchasing groups
  • Strong communication skills: written, verbal, and presentation
  • Exceptional creator of solutions to business challenges and complications
  • Strong team building skills
  • Confident decision maker with a process-driven attitude that builds upon daily improvements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel 60 days per year

Product Line Manager, Footwear

The role of Product Line Manager, Footwear is a key product management and development position on the fast-growing footwear category for Simms and reports to the Director of Product Marketing and Category Management.  The role’s focus is a combination of market research, consumer insight, and product management combined with bringing product design through commercialization by managing the footwear development process.   On the development side, the role will be responsible for building and maintaining specs & tech packs for prototyping resulting in on-cost, on-time sampling.   In addition, the role will maintain proactive communication with factories and raw material suppliers throughout the entire development process while adhering to an established timeline.  Finally, the role will work across departments to support footwear business goals, gain insights to inform product strategy, and will champion the footwear category within the organization.

The role will travel up to 30% of time both domestically and internationally.

Outcomes of this role include:

  • Key consumer insights and market research embedded into product creation process

Product Developer – Technical Packs, Bags & Luggage

The Simms organization is growing and we’re looking to fill the Product Developer – Technical Packs, Bags & Luggage position. This is a full-time, in-house role based in Bozeman, Montana.

In this role, the Product Developer is an integral part of the RDSD team, helping manage the technical packs, bags and luggage development process from ideation through preproduction confirmation and approval of final production quality prior to shipment..

The role will manage quality, function and on-time prototype and sample delivery. The developer works closely with the category manager for Packs, Bags and Luggage. There will be daily communications with design, materials, prototyping and manufacturing partners while tracking projects against the corporate calendar’s spring and fall seasonal launches. This role interfaces with a broad range of functional groups both within and outside of Simms.

Outcomes of this role include:
  • Deliver products to customer on time and at a competitive cost
  • Create and maintain the product tech packs (bill of materials, measurement specs and construction specs) per style
  • Help drive the process of timely commercialization and accurate execution of each product for sales samples and preproduction approvals, including proper lead time for material and field testing
  • Maintain a very proactive communication style with factories and raw material suppliers throughout the entire development process to ensure on time deliveries
  • Work with team to identify product fit and function solutions. Utilize user feedback and implement solutions based on field-testing and fabric performance requirements
  • Help develop and maintain fabric and trims library for the category
  • Assist in the development of the dealer workbook, catalog, websites, hangtags, packaging and other printed product information
  • Possess the ability to reach out to peers and cooperate with supervisors to establish an overall collaborative working relationship

Requirements:

  • Three to five years’ technical pack, bag and or luggage development experience
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Design/Merchandising or Industrial Design
  • Advance knowledge of technical construction and technical materials
  • Extreme attention to detail & Process-driven attitude
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and timeline driven
  • Mac proficient preferred
  • Experience and confidence in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Writes and speaks clearly and articulately in all forms of communication
  • A passion for outdoor activities; angling experience is preferred, but not required

Simms Marketing & Brand Presentation Manager

In this role, you will help grow the Simms brand as the leader in the fishing industry by developing, planning, and executing innovative consumer experiences for retail and on-ground activations.  You will ensure our connection with consumers at the moment of truth is inspiring, engaging, and effective.  

The Manager of Marketing & Brand Presentation will partner with Simms Brand Marketing leadership to set, adopt, and enrich seasonal plans that define the vision for product presentation, communication, and consumer experience, as well as integrate cross functionally with sales and product merchandising.  You will effectively communicate with Simms leadership and regional teams to ensure buy-in, and make sure deliverables are met.  You will build and maintain strong relationships with product, sales, and marketing functions to ensure plans are aligned across the business.

  • Development and execution of retail brand presentation strategies and guidelines
  • Development and roll-out of a tiered retail environment strategy with emphasis on delivering a consistent, on-brand consumer experience
  • Development and production of fixturing systems, communication platforms, and in-store product presentation materials including but not limited to packaging, seasonal graphics, branding, and product catalogs
  • Creation and management of seasonal calendars encompassing key initiatives and events
  • Development and execution of retail marketing and product presentation initiatives in partnership with regional Sales teams and internal stakeholders.  Initiatives can include, trial displays, space management, merchandising training, and digital content integration
  • Efficient management of all aspects of retail and event projects, including timelines, briefings, budget, execution, and evaluation
  • Individual is sought out for consumer and marketplace insights inclusive of retail innovations, consumer expectations, and competitive landscape analysis to ensure we win at the moment of truth

Successful candidates should possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communication, Business or related field
  • Minimum of 6 years directly relevant work experience (Retail Marketing, Visual Merchandising) 
  • Additional 2 years’ experience in lieu of degree 
  • Cross functional integrated marketing experience, strong background in window and in-store marketing 
  • Ability to brief and manage external teams

  • Strategic planning and business acumen
