Green River guide, David Hardy, holds this Golden Trevally caught and released on a recent trip to Hawaii. He tells the tale: "This location is at the mouth of Pearl Harbor...Only military personnel can access this beach and my family is stationed at Hickam. While visiting my sister on the base, she took me to this beach in the morning and I saw bones tailing, that was it - I was on the reef everyday after that. While wading during a high incoming high tide I saw a trevally skim the top of the reef, I feared that they might be fished out by the locals. But the fish move off the reef into the deep pearl harbor during low tide and no one can fish them during that time so there is more of them around this reef. After trying big poppers I switched back to a shrimp pattern and - wham. 35 minutes later I landed him. Wearing: SIMMS Ultralight Shirt, pants, SunGaiter, SunSleeve and SunGloves."
