About Me

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Jesse was privy to the vast fishing resources of the Driftless region. He began his love affair with fly fishing at 10 years old on Black Earth Creek, in his hometown of Cross Plains, WI. He sought his college education at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. Moving to Breckenridge after college, he worked as a guide on the Colorado, Arkansas, Blue and South Platte waterways. Against the grain, his now wife Kate, and him, moved from Colorado to Ripton, Vermont. Vermont has given him the opportunity to chase more species of fish then he feels he has time for. He enjoys spending as much time on the driftboat as possible. When not guiding, you can find him spending time with his wife, 3 year old daughter Peyton and his dogs Oso and Brookie. Jesse is the current President of the New Haven River Anglers Association, a local watershed conservation non-profit organization and the founder of the Otter Creek Classic Opening Day Fly Fishing Tournament.

My Perfect Guide Day

A day on the driftboat. Driving to the river before sunrise, an afternoon nap, and pulling out after dark. Baetis in the morning, Caddis through the afternoon, and Spinner action at dusk. Meat for the toads.
