Product Care

GORE-TEX® Outerwear Care:

Cleaning your GORE-TEX® garments regularly will extend the life of the product. It will also keep them breathable as dirt and oil can clog the GORE-TEX® membrane over time.

It is critical to wash jackets. Natural oils can damage the GORE-TEX® tape and adhesives causing a peeling effect.

Machine wash warm. Do not use fabric softener or bleach.

Remember to zip all pockets and close all Velcro cuffs before washing to prevent any damage caused by the machine.

Tumble dry on warm setting making sure not to use a high heat setting. Drying on warm will actually reactivate the DWR coating.

  • GORE-TEX® Performance Shell outerwear is waterproof, lightweight, durable and breathable. It’s designed to provide excellent, long-lasting performance in a wide range of conditions.

  • Little Parts from the YKK® Fastening Products Group create The Big Difference for our customers — fastening solutions intelligently integrated with the finished product to provide the highest quality, most durable gear. The Little Parts — zippers, metal buttons and snaps, and Nylon buckles — all earn the YKK® brand. The Big Difference begins with their obsession to ensure that every individual component renders maximum value to the finished whole. That commitment instills quality and value into every product. Simms utilizes fasteners built to withstand the harshest environments and YKK® provides the best solutions to meet those needs. All Simms outerwear features nylon YKK® zippers to minimize corrosion and provide high performing, durable wear. www.ykkamerica.com.

Best Jacket AND WARRANTY Review by Doug Swift
I originally purchased one of these jackets about 5 years ago. I noticed initially that the front centre zipper was a little cantankerous and would bind up in the jacket lining if not zipped carefully. It was a minor malfunction and the jacket otherwise performed flawlessly and above my expectations over the years, keeping me totally dry and warm in all inclement weather. Eventually the zipper wore out to the point where I contacted Simms to see if it could be replaced. The Simms repair folks determined that the zipper could not be repaired and quickly sent a new G3 replacement under their warranty program. I'm sure the new jacket will be just as reliable and weather proof as the old one and I can't say enough good things about the way I was treated in regards to being kept updated and promptly supplied with the new jacket. Great product and service!!

G3 Guide Review by G. Jones
I had used the original Guide jacket for years which was excellent but it eventually needed replacing. I opted for the G3 Guide jacket last year. I have to say I am very disappointed with the jacket. I have had a number of days in fairly moderate showers and some in light drizzle - nothing heavy or prolonged. The contents of both bellows and zipped front pockets have been absolutely saturated on every occasion. The only pocket that seems to keep contents dry is the inside zip pocket. I did not expect this to be the case and I am very very disappointed considering I have Simms waders, boots, fleeces which are all excellent.

Double-Duty Mountaineering Jacket!? Review by Allan Campbell
Ridiculous is how well this jacket performs. I not only use it daily for guiding - I use it as my mountaineering shell. Totally utilitarian - it outperforms shells from Mountain Hardwear, Pataguchi, Outdoor Research, etc. Insane rain? No problem. Blizzard snow and spindrift? Perfect. When everyone else is wet - I'm dry. Very well thought out pockets and cuffs. Even looks decent wearing around town.

Great Jacket Review by FrequentFlier85
This jacket is everything I wanted and more in a wading jacket. The design is great for long days of fishing, and it holds up in the brisk Montana morning air. I have had other jackets before and this one outperforms them all. Definitely a great pick, and definitely a jacket I would recommend to anyone.

G3 guide Review by stockbike
This Jacket far exceeds my expectations! I fish Northern Oregon all year long and would not do it without this jacket! I have previously used my old Marmot ski jacket and have water running down my sleeves and around my neck. This jacket goes chest deep in water and can hold up through a two hour squall while rowing a drift boat. I always come back to the truck dry underneath. I love this jacket.
