Why Simms Waders

Why GORE-TEX®?

Product Care

GORE-TEX® Wader Care:

The #1 tip to prolonging the life of a wader is drying your waders. It is important to dry your waders out after each use. We recommend drying the inside first (if damp) and then the outside. When drying the outside you can pull your gravel guards up until the feet are dry and then flip them down to dry the rest of the wader

Washing - Use a front load machine or hand wash. Use cold water and normal detergent that does not contain bleach. Once you have washed the waders make sure you dry them properly start by drying the inside first. Never put your waders in the dryer, the heat will adversely affect the seam tape on your waders and will void your warranty.

Fit - We offer more sizes than anyone, a good fit goes a long way to extending the life of your wader. Make it clear that people should use their exact measurements as we have already provided extra room for layering and movement.

General Care - Do not store inside your car for long periods of time excess heat will damage your waders.

Use A Mat - Always put your waders on using a protective mat to shield the neoprene feet from rocks. The Headwaters gear bag for example has a pull out mat that works great for this.

Proper Layering - Do not wear jeans under your waders. Jeans are highly abrasive wearing on your waders from the inside out. More importantly jeans and sweatpants do not transfer moisture away from the body. Use proper layering (to view our layering collection, go here). Using layers such as these will help wick moisture away from your body and assist in the waders ability to breathe.

Stains - most stain removers will work fine on our waders. As long as the stain remover does not contain bleach you should be o.k.

  • The GORE-TEX® membrane is the heart of all GORE -TEX® products. The GORE-TEX® membrane contains 9 billion microscopic pores per square inch. These pores are so small that water droplets cannot get through but water vapor can still escape. Water from the outside cannot penetrate and cold winds cannot pass through, but perspiration can escape easily, keeping you dry and comfortable all day. GORE-TEX® fabrics are created by integrating the GORE-TEX® membrane between an outer fabric and lining.

Proven Quality, Comfort and Durability Review by Gary
Overall
I have fished Simms G3's for years in lots of places. They are the last piece on fly fishing gear I would part with.

Worth the $$$ Review by BB
Overall
Have to admit that I was a little skeptical about dropping $500 (price with tax and shipping) on a pair of waders, but after 2 full days on the Salmon River I am a believer. I fish the DSR which requires a lot of hiking; the fit of these waders make covering the river so much easier.

Wish I bought them a year ago instead of the cheapo "big box" store brand waders that cost $100, were uncomfortable as hell and lasted for about 30 days of fishing!

Amazing Review by Nebrof
Overall
First off, I was very hesitant about spending the amount of loot required for the G3. I had been doing just fine with a pair of DB Barebones for the last several years. Finally, last summer they gave out and I began wondering what to do next. I decided to pull the trigger on the G3's and could not be more happy with my decision. The design allows for the waders to be worn with layers without having extra fabric which binds and snags. Last week I found myself in one hell of a storm on the Bighorn and was lacking proper winter material considering the day began with sun and no wind. Yes, a rare occasion in this part of the state. The weather decided it needed to kick us in the ass at which time I was happy that at least my legs and feet were protected by the Simms G3. Maybe one of these days I will be able to pull the trigger on the same model of jacket. Until then, Simms you have a loyal and lifelong customer!

Excellent Review by yoopertrout
Overall
I have owned many different brands of waders. These are the best by far. I doubt that I will ever buy a different kind. I fish in Northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan - the land of think, brushy tag alder swamps. I wear my waders over 50 days each year. These waders are tough. My last pair lasted five years, and are still good (I bought a new pair and kept them for back-up and guests.) Every other brand of breathable waders I have owned were shot in well under two seasons. When I consider how long they last, these are the most economical waders out there.

G3 Waders Review by Stinky Pants Fishing
Overall
This was my first experience with Simm's G3 waders and I understand what all the hype is about. Tough and designed for serious fisherman in mind. The G3's have a lot of little features that add up to very satisfied customer. The only way I wouldn't get these is if I step up to the G4's!

Built to last Review by Rick
Overall
I'm in my G3's about 55 days/year on walk & wade trips. The waders have taken a beating for 3 years and have never let me down. When they do wear out, I'll get another pair. They are the best waders I've ever owned.

Worth EVERY dollar Review by Thetroutman85
Overall
I've been using these waders for years without any leaks. Im talking about 5+ hours on the river wading, float tubing, hiking, etc. About three years now and i just have some pin hole leaks. Nothing too bad but Simms repair team are the best. Little to no cost on the repair which makes a lot of angler like myself happy. Thats why i wear nothing but Simms.
