Why Simms Waders

Why GORE-TEX®?

Product Care

GORE-TEX® Wader Care:

The #1 tip to prolonging the life of a wader is drying your waders. It is important to dry your waders out after each use. We recommend drying the inside first (if damp) and then the outside. When drying the outside you can pull your gravel guards up until the feet are dry and then flip them down to dry the rest of the wader

Washing - Use a front load machine or hand wash. Use cold water and normal detergent that does not contain bleach. Once you have washed the waders make sure you dry them properly start by drying the inside first. Never put your waders in the dryer, the heat will adversely affect the seam tape on your waders and will void your warranty.

Fit - We offer more sizes than anyone, a good fit goes a long way to extending the life of your wader. Make it clear that people should use their exact measurements as we have already provided extra room for layering and movement.

General Care - Do not store inside your car for long periods of time excess heat will damage your waders.

Use A Mat - Always put your waders on using a protective mat to shield the neoprene feet from rocks. The Headwaters gear bag for example has a pull out mat that works great for this.

Proper Layering - Do not wear jeans under your waders. Jeans are highly abrasive wearing on your waders from the inside out. More importantly jeans and sweatpants do not transfer moisture away from the body. Use proper layering (to view our layering collection, go here). Using layers such as these will help wick moisture away from your body and assist in the waders ability to breathe.

Stains - most stain removers will work fine on our waders. As long as the stain remover does not contain bleach you should be o.k.

  • The GORE-TEX® membrane is the heart of all GORE -TEX® products. The GORE-TEX® membrane contains 9 billion microscopic pores per square inch. These pores are so small that water droplets cannot get through but water vapor can still escape. Water from the outside cannot penetrate and cold winds cannot pass through, but perspiration can escape easily, keeping you dry and comfortable all day. GORE-TEX® fabrics are created by integrating the GORE-TEX® membrane between an outer fabric and lining.

Bullet proof Review by Jared G
Overall
I have the limited edition of this wader with the G4Z suspenders. I have a tendency to ride down hills mostly on my ass. I also like to crawl over logs, get down on my knees in the rocks and generally abuse this wader. No holes, not even any scuffs on the outside. These are bullet proof waders, only regret is not buying the G4Z. I could use the 5 layer on the butt and a front zip to relieve myself would be nice.

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE Review by ALEX
Overall
Best customer service ever! My older waders (Headwaters) leaked. Nick from customer care (great guy!)gave me an upgrade to the G3 through store credit! The best service of any repair or re-issue. Im sold on staying with this company. Will post another review after I put the G3 through some of washington's bad weather and hard fishing.

The "Standard" to which all else is judged Review by Allan Campbell
Overall
This is the benchmark for all waders. I've tried them all - Pataguchi, Orvis, Redington, Filson, etc. While I have not tried the G4's I haven't felt it necessary. After several seasons of guiding along the north coast of California both wading and drifting these waders haven't had any major failures. Once a year I check them for briar holes and only find a few. These waders are super-tough. The best way to describe the treatment I give these waders is "abusive". Excellent bang for the buck. I'll definitely buy another pair when these give up - but that could be years from now.

Tough waders Review by Justin
Overall
Stream fishing in Arizona requires quite a bit of hiking into remote areas. Using my Simms G3 Guide waders this past year has allowed me to walk through hazardous terrain with confidence. I have encountered everything from the thickest blackberry briars to rusty barbed wire and have yet to tear or punture them. With 230 trips so far, I have yet to encounter a leak. Absolutely an awesome product!

Third Pair Review by Desk
Overall
As far as comfort, style and overall functionality go these waders are far above every other competitor. Unfortunately this will be the second pair in a row that I have had to return for repair due to leaks in the crotch and upper leg area. I have worn this pair less than 20 times. bottom line is, if these would hold up there is no competition, period. I will let you know how repair and service goes.

Give simms credit Review by Crewman
Overall
Must give credit where credit is due.I sure didn't think you would post my review.I did see your repair video before I took them back to where I had bought them and was not wanting to spend the $50 they wantedto charge me for a 10 dollar repair I could do my self.I felt the store where I purchased them from would of supplied better customer service as I have spent lots of dollars with them.As for them they have lost a big spending customer to save a few bucks. Was it worth it in the long run for them?

Great Service & Great Wader Review by J. White
Overall
I normally never take the time to write reviews. However after my experience with the repair department I thought I would. I had a 2005 model of simms waders that I simply abused. Not saying I didn't take care of them but I definitely thought I got my money out of them. Eventually they sprung a few leaks and I sent them in. The repair department found them unrepairable. Instead of delivering the bad news they offered to send me a new comparable model or give me store credit. I took the store credit and upgraded to another pair paying the difference. You don't find too many companies taking care of their customers anymore. I will never buy any other brand.

G3 wader Review by Matt
Overall
The G3 is advertised as a "tough" wader. I've had mine for just over a month and the seat already has holes. I guess that's what I get for sitting on the bank to rig up. I am hard on gear, but it would be nice to find a wader that can actually stand up to be worn outside of a boat and last multiple seasons. Pretty expensive piece of gear for the duration of use.
