Why Simms Waders
- Product Care
GORE-TEX® Wader Care:
The #1 tip to prolonging the life of a wader is drying your waders. It is important to dry your waders out after each use. We recommend drying the inside first (if damp) and then the outside. When drying the outside you can pull your gravel guards up until the feet are dry and then flip them down to dry the rest of the wader
Washing - Use a front load machine or hand wash. Use cold water and normal detergent that does not contain bleach. Once you have washed the waders make sure you dry them properly start by drying the inside first. Never put your waders in the dryer, the heat will adversely affect the seam tape on your waders and will void your warranty.
Fit - We offer more sizes than anyone, a good fit goes a long way to extending the life of your wader. Make it clear that people should use their exact measurements as we have already provided extra room for layering and movement.
General Care - Do not store inside your car for long periods of time excess heat will damage your waders.
Use A Mat - Always put your waders on using a protective mat to shield the neoprene feet from rocks. The Headwaters gear bag for example has a pull out mat that works great for this.
Proper Layering - Do not wear jeans under your waders. Jeans are highly abrasive wearing on your waders from the inside out. More importantly jeans and sweatpants do not transfer moisture away from the body. Use proper layering (to view our layering collection, go here). Using layers such as these will help wick moisture away from your body and assist in the waders ability to breathe.
Stains - most stain removers will work fine on our waders. As long as the stain remover does not contain bleach you should be o.k.
The GORE-TEX® membrane is the heart of all GORE -TEX® products. The GORE-TEX® membrane contains 9 billion microscopic pores per square inch. These pores are so small that water droplets cannot get through but water vapor can still escape. Water from the outside cannot penetrate and cold winds cannot pass through, but perspiration can escape easily, keeping you dry and comfortable all day. GORE-TEX® fabrics are created by integrating the GORE-TEX® membrane between an outer fabric and lining.

- G3 guide waders Review by D.S.
OverallIn over 20 years of fly fishing I have tried virtually all the major breathable wader brands. None of them met my expectations of durability and build quality until I purchased a pair of Simms G3 guide waders 4 years ago. As an avid fly fisher, fly casting instructor and guide I spend many, many days per year on the water and after 4 years of continuos hard use the only issue I have had with these waders was a belt loop coming loose. They are still as comfortable and leak proof as the day I got them. Very highly recommended!

OverallPros-I have used Simms Guide waders since they first came out and have logged as many as 500 days (combined guiding & fishing) on a pair before retiring them. Durability is overall excellent (with exception of the water-repellant coating). Cons-My beefy calves will not fit into the the waders lower legs completely...too tight from the knee to the ankle. I originally bought the XLS size, returned them for tight calves then reordered in 3XLS trying to get them roomy enough to be comfortable but the calves were still too tight while the upper was over-size. I cut off the integral gravel cuffs (I don't like them anyways) which increased the calf room slightly but not enough. Extended sizes need to be large all the way down!

- G3 Stocking Foot Chest Waders Review by Capt. Fin Tastic
OverallI fish in Matagorda, TX on the middle Texas coast. My favorite fish to catch are Trophy Speckled Trout, which requires walking in soft mud and oyster shells. This can be instant trouble for most light weight waders, however I am on my 3rd year wearing the lightweight waders and no leaks. I fish in these waders at least 40 times a year and the only issue I had was the zipper on the outside pocket corroding from being in saltwater. Which probably could have been avoided if I rinsed them after being in saltwater. Simms was good enough to replace them. I have gotten more than my moneys worth and have convinced a few friends along the way to buy Simms and they are all more satisfied than with any other wader thay have ever worn. Capt. - G3 guide waders Review by Mark Bistis
OverallI usually go through waders every season. I have owned these for 3 years now, and still they are holding up. They are not too heavy for spring and fall and more than enough for Montana Winters. I backpacked through patagonia with these and they held up just fine and fit nicely in my pack. Very good product.
