GORE-TEX® Outerwear Care:
Cleaning your GORE-TEX® garments regularly will extend the life of the product. It will also keep them breathable as dirt and oil can clog the GORE-TEX® membrane over time.
It is critical to wash jackets. Natural oils can damage the GORE-TEX® tape and adhesives causing a peeling effect.
Machine wash warm. Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
Remember to zip all pockets and close all Velcro cuffs before washing to prevent any damage caused by the machine.
Tumble dry on warm setting making sure not to use a high heat setting. Drying on warm will actually reactivate the DWR coating.
The GORE-TEX® membrane is the heart of all GORE -TEX® products. The GORE-TEX® membrane contains 9 billion microscopic pores per square inch. These pores are so small that water droplets cannot get through but water vapor can still escape. Water from the outside cannot penetrate and cold winds cannot pass through, but perspiration can escape easily, keeping you dry and comfortable all day. GORE-TEX® fabrics are created by integrating the GORE-TEX® membrane between an outer fabric and lining.

- Disappointed with hat Review by John-Idaho
OverallI own a lot of Simms gear and consider it the best on the market, except for this hat. I do a lot of winter fishing and expected something typical of what Simms normally produces. The quality and construction are great, but I can't keep the brim from pushing down over my eyes. I usually have my jacket collar up or my sweatshirt hood coming out from under that. The back of the hat gets pushed up no matter how I adjust it. Too bad, because it is warm and well constructed otherwise.

- My Little Beast ! Review by wesleywongphoto
OverallThis is the ULTIMATE cold weather hat. I have owned this my little beast of a hat for over 4 years now and got it ironically not so much for fishing but because I was photographing in extreme winter temperatures for extended periods of time. I had researched and tried just about everything until I found this hat. Trust me there is nothing else on the market even close to the comfort and and warmth keeping ability of this hat. If your fishing or involved in any other activity where the wind is blowing, beanies and hats regardless of how thick they are won't beat the cold if you don't have that visor on the hat. This hat totally envelopes the neck and back of the head which is also totally indispensable for fishing or working in cold weather. I call this hat the beast because I have mashed and squashed this hat in suitcases and backpacks, used it in -30 centigrade temperature for weeks straight, worn it in massive snow storms and the hat has maintained it's warmth keeping abilities and shape through out these past 4 years. It's really an amazing hat. You can roll the soft part of the hat up like a little ball and it will fit snugly in just about any backpack with ease. It's also very nice having those velcro chin straps which keep the hat snug and warm or you can use them to hang or attach them to your pack or back loop of your vest when your not wearing the hat. Last winter I worked for a month in Harbin China in the dead of winter where just about every day it was snowing and -25 degrees. The hat never got cold and damp and the GORE-TEX shed the snow and ice like a flea collar shedding fleas on a dog. I should like to add that two years ago I added some custom heavy fleece to the interior of the hat and it's now ultra warm. SIMMS you should really think about making this hat with thick fleece as well. My only minor complaint is that the velcro on the straps doesn't stick as well as I would like it to but maybe it's because I've finally worn the BEAST down a little.....
Kudos to Simms for making this hat and hope you continue selling it !

- Disappointing Review by Edi G
OverallI am usually very happy with Simms products and most of my fishing attire if not all is Simms. Unfortunatelly the ExStream Hat is a complete disappointment. When I put it on, it gives me a feeling of having a stewpot on my head. It goes in too deep and covers the eyes. Using the cord to correct the problem creates another one. In order to keep it higher the cord squeezes your head like a vise. Yes it is warm and dry, but the trade off is too high for me.
