Why Outerwear?

GORE-TEX® Technology and Simms Gear

Product Care

GORE-TEX® Outerwear Care:

Cleaning your GORE-TEX® garments regularly will extend the life of the product. It will also keep them breathable as dirt and oil can clog the GORE-TEX® membrane over time.

It is critical to wash jackets. Natural oils can damage the GORE-TEX® tape and adhesives causing a peeling effect.

Machine wash warm. Do not use fabric softener or bleach.

Remember to zip all pockets and close all Velcro cuffs before washing to prevent any damage caused by the machine.

Tumble dry on warm setting making sure not to use a high heat setting. Drying on warm will actually reactivate the DWR coating.

  • GORE-TEX® Performance Shell outerwear is waterproof, lightweight, durable and breathable. It’s designed to provide excellent, long-lasting performance in a wide range of conditions.

  • Little Parts from the YKK® Fastening Products Group create The Big Difference for our customers — fastening solutions intelligently integrated with the finished product to provide the highest quality, most durable gear. The Little Parts — zippers, metal buttons and snaps, and Nylon buckles — all earn the YKK® brand. The Big Difference begins with their obsession to ensure that every individual component renders maximum value to the finished whole. That commitment instills quality and value into every product. Simms utilizes fasteners built to withstand the harshest environments and YKK® provides the best solutions to meet those needs. All Simms outerwear features nylon YKK® zippers to minimize corrosion and provide high performing, durable wear.

Guide jacket Review by David
Have had several high quality rain jackets over the years and continue to use and maintain some of the older traditional waxed cotton. The guide jacket is in another class. The design is so well thought out and clearly suited to fishing. The quality of construction and material is outstanding. When it comes to keeping out the rain, it does exactly what it is designed to do and as such it keeps you on the water longer.

Buy it, you'll like it! Review by Capt Clay
As a guide, products have to work for me. If it isn't functional, then it gets tossed. If you want a good investment, this is it, as it has huge pockets to carry all kinds of stuff, whether on the river chasing salmon or on the flats for bones. Have even used it for deep sea fishing, just to stay dry. Big factor is extreme durability, which interprets to money well spent. Even has velcro inside the sleeve tips so your body heat stays in and water doesn't run inside if you dunk your arm in the water and raise it up.

I love this jacket and it is a must take on all my outings.I would rather forget to bring my fly boxes than my jacket. My jacket has keep me warm and dry in some of the worst rain I have ever seen. Thank you SIMMS!

The Best for Me Review by LuckyBoy
I've learned alot about rainwear over the years and one thing I've found is that the latest and greatest isn't always the best for my situation.I had an original guide jacket for many years, but time took it's toll. I purchased a new G4 several years ago and was disappointed. The G4 is too light weight and was not as warm as my Guide Jacket. The zipper broke ( which doesn't compare to the heavy construction of the Guide ).I purchased a "new" Guide to use while my G4 was sent back to Simms. This in my opinion is the best jacket Simms ever made.Don't misunderstand, Simms is a great company and I have ALL their products, top to bottom, as I am on the water steelheading over 70 days a year and in all weather conditions. Wearing this jacket this week is like coming home to an old friend. Thanks Simms for the great product, love the dark colors, don't understand the orange color, do fish see you coming??

3 XL Review by Michael R
This is a great Jacket but the only one that comes in 3 XL. Simms needs to make more products that come in xxxl sizes. Not everyone fits in 2XL and that's the biggest size in just about all their Jackets come in " VERY DISAPPOINTED" !!!! I buy most of my stuff from simms but will have to start looking elsewhere if they don't make bigger sizes!!!

Great Jacket Review by Trevor Anderson
I purchased this jacket for this fall and all I can say is what a great jacket to keep you warm and dry. You don't need to wear a vest with it because of the large chest pockets for fly boxes, retractors for nippers and a hemostat, fly patch, and a ring to hold your net from your back. For the price you can't beat it.
