Guide WINDSTOPPER® Jacket
- Product Care
The ability to block wind is inherent in the fabric. Proper washing will not affect its ability to block wind.
Turn item inside-out and machine wash warm with liquid detergent specifically for membrane clothing (available in specialist sports shops). Tumble dry cool, or hang drying is the safest.
Remember to zip all pockets and close all Velcro cuffs before washing to prevent any damage caused by the machine.
Do not dry clean, use bleach or fabric softeners.
It is better to care for the garment often with a little detergent than rarely with a lot of detergent.
Most anglers have experienced a windblown day on the water - many including rain, sleet or snow. Any one of these elements might be enough to drive you inside if you aren’t wearing the proper gear. WINDSTOPPER® fabrics include two key features to make your fishing experience more comfortable:
- Total windproof protection. WINDSTOPPER® membrane blocks 100% of blowing wind. - All Simms WINDSTOPPER® fabrics feature DWR to keep water absorption to the absolute minimum - even with lofty fleece.
The AquaGuard® VISLON® zipper is a revolutionary new design from the global leader in containment closures. The AquaGuard® VISLON® zipper's new tooth design provides enhanced fluid repellency vs. coil or standard individual element closures, while increasing the number of design and color options for your application.
- great product-perfect weight-balanced Review by dazzle
Overalli think i have purchased most everything made by simms. this is the perfect weight. great in windy moist situations where the bigger jackets restrict. great fit with articulation at the right places with a great hood hidden nicely behind a soft collar. zipper placement atfully placed in the normal simms locations.

- Simms Windstopper Jacket Review by Old Guy
OverallI used this jacket on a recent trip to the California Delta. Winds were 25 to 30 mph, and the air temps were a cool. This jacket absolutely stopped any of the cold wind from reaching my upper body. Made the day much more pleasant to fish. I wish Simms would make pants or bibs to go with this awesome jacket. Definitely worth the money.

- Expectations Exceeded Review by Big B
OverallBought the Windstopper several months ago. Have been using it while flyfishing Montana streams. Weather has been all over the place this year. Really impressed with how warm and dry the jacket has kept me. Water beads up on the shoulders and arms even though it is not waterproof. It has four zippered pockets which is really nice for storing keys, phones, etc. that I want easy access to. The detachable hood is a great design. Got caught in a sideways blizzard fishing the Bitterroot and kept warm. All I had on underneath was a longsleeve t-shirt. Jacket isn't bulky which is a plus when casting.

- My New Favorite Jacket Review by Stretch
OverallPurchased the jacket several months ago before I started flyfishing here in Montana. I have been so glad to find a product that actually exceeds my expectations. For such a light jacket , it has really kept me warm in an everchanging Spring. I went fishing last week on the Bitterroot and thought I could get by with a long sleeve t-shirt and the jacket. I had waded out in the river and was fishing when I noticed snow hitting the nearby peaks. Pretty soon it hit where I was and the snow was a sideways blizzard. I actually was reasonably warm. Even though this is not advertised as waterproof, the fabric on the shoulders and arms shed water fairly well. It wouldn't probably keep you totally dry through a prolonged downpour but did just great through the intermittent squalls that came through. The pockets are a great feature. It is so nice to have four zippered pockets to store all the stuff I don't want in my waders. The removeable hood was nice as I usually wear a wide brimmed hat and don't always need it. I will probably look for one for my wife, as she has started to really get into flyfishing. It's nice to know that you have a piece of clothing that will bail you out of changing weather conditions.

- Expensive compare with performance and design Review by Crzy Chef
OverallI have some simms products and I got this jacket for cold weather fishing but it doesnt meet my expectation because this jacket's pockets allow too much cold air into the inside.

- Four Season Strong Review by UglyDuck's
OverallAfter receiving this piece I have put it to work in a soggy and cold North Eastern fall. What prompted me to write this review was the weather swings in the past month... we went from 70 degree days with wind and rain on the big lake to 25 degree nights, with wind and rain on the big lake to 40 degree days with wind and rain all over. I have found this jacket a perfect standalone in temps ranging from 45-70. This covers most NE springs/falls and even some summer nights here. When it starts really cooling down, I throw the Rogue Fleece Hoody underneath and I am very, very comfortable. I usually take a Simms large and went XL in this. Glad I did as I can stuff layers underneath with plenty of room left for casting. The 3 things that really blew me away were A)Windstopper Softshell is even more impressive than standard Windstopper, and in the boat in 30-40 knot winds with 40 degree fall air you notice the quality and B) This thing is a legit rain jacket. I spent a solid 5 hours in a messy windy downpour this week and I stayed dry. Finally, C) The minimalist pocket arrangement is PERFECT as I can wear my chest pack without a lot of techy features pocking and snagging everything and keeping the pockets large was a great design move. I can stuff beers or water in the handwarmer pockets and a tin of chew, 2 boxes, and wallet and phone in the chest pockets. I could go on and on, but my final note would be that this jacket has four season implications if you layer correctly. By far the most versatile jacket I own. Buy this and don't look back. It's perfectly simple and is all business.
