- Close to great but not quite there yet. Review by Catsailor
OverallFirst and foremost I am a big Simms fan.
I think the concept of this sling and fit is spot on however I have a few suggestions.
My biggest gripe is that the removable floatant and tippet-spool retainers do not stick well to the inside of the compression-molded front pocket like it's obviously intended. These removable items do not stay put either falling to the bottom or worst case, if you forget to zip up the closure, falling out mid stream and losing your tippet/floatant. (Thanks to Simms for replacing mine). Since the tippet/floatant stick fine on the outer material or on my waders the issue is with the material chosen to line the inside of the pocket. Please change it.
My next gripe is with the rod tube straps which I found wouldn't securely hold my new shiny smooth Sage "Salt" rod tube. The tube just slips out and are therefore worthless for their intended application
with this tube. Glad I didn't loose it. It needs a sticky/grippy material as a fix.
I love the way the sling pack fits in the small of my back. The external stash pocket is a great feature. I wish the larger pocket had 3 stretchy pockets for fly boxes and wish the compression-molded front pocket that folds out for a customizable workspace was more condusive to customization. IE a tad wider so that the removable velcro tippet, floatant, and fly patch could be secured side by side (at least two of them) rather than only top/bottom in the pocket. And the pocket itself was roomy enough for all three accessories.
With these improvements a very good product would indeed be great!

- Amazing!! Review by DevilDogFlyFishing
OverallThe Simms Headwater Large Sling Pack changed my fishing. Spending a full day on the river is always my goal whenever I get to fish. Although vests are light, they seemed to constantly be a burden and constantly got in the way when navigating the tight trails that surround Utah's Provo River. The Sling Pack gave me a slimmer profile and made it easy for me to organize my gear. The workstation provides a place to set down tools or flies when you want to setup a new rig in the river as opposed to finding a dry spot on the bank. As with all Simms products, the construction is sturdy and takes abuse well. I am able to pack all my fly fishing gear to include multiple fly boxes, 8 spools of tippets, and an extra reel. In addition to all of that, I pack a jacket, JetBoil for making lunch, and a camera with an interchangeable lens. It is the ultimate pack and I could not imagine fishing without it. A must have for any serious angler, salt or freshwater.

- great product Review by micky
Overalljust returned from salmon fishing in sitka., Love the product. tons of room even with a rain jacket tuckedin the large storge pocket. would be perfect if the bottom portion of the pack were water proof. wading in waist deep water will soak everything in the lower portion of the pack.

- great pack, room, comfortable, large, mostly conviement Review by Buddylove
OverallWearing the slink pack, it hardly felt like I had a pack on my back and it was fairly loaded, sections were and we'll thought out, I would like to have tbe ability to attach a Headwater Chest pack, I have one that I am going to try to retro fit it to the front strap, if I can swing it(no pun intended) it would then be the best vest I own, I have 7 different fest, none completely satifly me, but I am so very close,

- Patience Pack Review by BigRob
OverallJust got this pack and went to fish the East Walker River, Nevada side, at first, I could not find where to rig my gear on it to be accessible at any time without slingin the pack around. Then I felt like when I pulled the pack around something was not right. You have to unbuckle waist strap so that, you can sling pack directly in front of you. They call it Large but its kinda "small". I like it though pretty cool pack once you get used to it.!

- Great pack you can wear all day!! Review by Jason81
OverallWhen I first received this pack I was impressed with, first the design of it and second, all the room it has. The first time i used it I strapped my 4love peice Sage to the rod carrier for hands free hiking, which was nice for the icy trails to my fishing spot. I like how it pulls around and all the pockets are rite in front of you for easy access. Im very pleased with my purchase and all my buddies want one now!

- Love it Review by Spencer
OverallGreat bag! A lot of storage and is very functional. Everything tucks away so you don't catch on anything. Very pleased in this pack.

- I like to bring the kitchen sink too! Review by James
OverallHolds all my LARGE fly boxes, heads, tips, extra 12 wt +spools and reels used for spey fishing. I even have enough room for extra clothes and lunch. Love the large strap. Because I like to carry all this stuff the large strap prevents a sore shoulder. Great product, probaby the best bag ever for spey nuts like myself.

- Another winner from Simms Review by MattyTC
OverallI absolutely love this pack. Simms thought of everything from zippers being on the right side when you swing the pack from front to back, to pockets everywhere for everything. It is a very comfortable pack to wear. I have used this pack for my fishing gear as well as for outings with the kids.
I highly recommend this pack. Great work Simms!

- The best option for me! Review by Maxim Sakulevich
Overall(Sorry my English!)
I chose long, between jackets, bags, backpacks ... Not a few have tried similar backpacks from other firms. And somehow I was not particularly happy about it. That is not the location of pockets, it sits on me not so, then the third, it prevents ... One word - it was not as we would like. As a result, fishing partly turned into a minor inconvenience)
But recently bought this backpack! T I'll tell you - I absolutely love it! A feeling that this thing sewed it for me ... So everything has been thought and convenient!
