Simms has booth at expo and four anglers vying for crown

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Bassmaster Classic is the Super Bowl of bass fishing. It’s bass fishing’s biggest tournament with the best anglers battling for the championship title.

In a word, the Classic is big. And Simms Fishing Products will be a part of it all when the 2013 Bassmaster Classic is held Feb. 22-24 on the Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees outside of Tulsa, Okla.

For the majority of those attending the Classic, the best way to see Simms will be to visit the Simms booth at the Bassmaster Expo (free and open to the public) this Friday-Sunday at the Tulsa Convention Center.

Bass fans can check out Simms’ award-winning outerwear designed to keep anglers dry, warm and on the water even in the harshest weather conditions. In booth #1125 at the Bassmaster Expo, Simms will be showcasing their new GORE-TEX® Contender jacket and bib along with the ProDry™ jacket and bib, which is the suit of choice for many of the anglers competing in the Classic. Simms will also have an assortment of products perfect for the conditions that bass anglers endure, including frigid temperatures, which are in the forecast for the 2013 Classic.

Expo attendees will have a chance to test the Simms GORE-TEX® rain suits in the Gore Mobile Rain Room. This unique mobile center is essentially an extreme-weather test chamber. Step inside the chamber to put the GORE-TEX® “Guaranteed to Keep You Dry” promise to the test – and experience rainfall up to 22” per hour, whipping winds at speeds of up to 32 miles per hour and a simulated thunderstorm.

Additionally, in the Classic field of 53 anglers, Simms has four members of their Pro Angler Team competing for the title. Whether watching the action in-person and on-the-water or monitoring the Classic competition through the Bassmaster.com website, pay particular attention to these four anglers:

  • Shaw Grigsby: Grigsby, of Gainesville, Fla., is fishing in his 15th Bassmaster Classic. He qualified for this year’s tourney by finishing 25th in Angler of the Year standings in 2012.  Among his 13 Classics, Grigsby was runner-up in 1993 and third in 2000.
  • Aaron Martens: After finishing in 10th place in AOY standings in 2012, Martens makes his 13th appearance in the Classic, where he has been runner-up in four and has three other top 10 finishes.
  • Ish Monroe: The Hughson, Calif., angler is fishing in his 8th classic. He got his berth in this year’s event after winning an Elite Series event in 2012.
  • Brandon Palaniuk: The newest member of Simms’ Pro Angler Tournament Staff, Palaniuk is making his third Classic appearance. Like Monroe, Palaniuk qualified by winning a 2012 Elite Series Event.

Simms also expects a number of Classic anglers – even those not on the Pro Angler Tournament Staff – to be wearing their GORE-TEX® and WINDSTOPPER® products while chasing fish on Grand Lake.
