Product Care

Footwear Care:

For proper cleaning of your footwear to descrease the likelihood of spreading Aquatic Invasive Species, please reference our CleanStream™ page.

If using in saltwater always clean and rinse to prevent corrosion.

Use a brush to remove dust and dirt. Choose an old vegetable brush or toothbrush. For maximum thoroughness, remove laces prior to cleaning. Use specialized boot cleaner, saddle soap or maybe a mild dishwashing soap with luke-warm water.

Do not use bar soap or detergents.

Do not place wet boots close to a heat source (fireplace, campfire, wood stove, radiator, heater, sunny windowsill) as this can weaken adhesives and cause materials to become brittle or shrink.

Dry using natural methods (air dry) and try to keep them out of the sun for long periods of time. Boots dry faster when positioned upside-down. If desired, stuff a sheet or two of newspaper into each boot to absorb moisture. Change the paper each hour.

If you see any mold on your boots, brush in a mixture of 80% water and 20% vinegar.

Over time the use of leather conditioners may provide increased water repellency and can prevent cracking and drying of the leather.

Store footwear in a place where temperatures are stable and normal. Do not store footwear in attics, garages, car trunks or any unventilated spaces.

Never put footwear in washing machine.

All of these elements assist anglers in doing their part to prevent the spread of invasive species. Great boot Review by Go Griz
I started with the freestone boots and now have these, if you are torn between the 2 buy these! you will not regret it. great for long hours and lots of use. I am in these nearly 7 days a week and they feel great. great traction and support in the ankle. I did put the hardbite stars in and the studs but only because it gets really slippery here in maine and I need the traaction.

Best Boot Review by Go Griz
I am in my boots 5 days a week after work and both Saturday and Sunday for 4-5 hours easy. I had the freestone boots and they were great but now have the rivershed. If you are torn between the two spend the extra on these. Best for long hours and hiking I added the hard bite star cleats and the hard bite studs and they don't move when crossing fast water. The Saco River here in Maine is treacherously slippery so every bit helps. Best bang for your buck, get these!

Best Grip Ever Review by Ron Brooks
PA recently has engaged in prohibiting the use of felt bottom boots. I was not convinced that there was a rubber tread boot out there that could provide traction. After 2 days on Penns creek with these boots I am convinced! Combined with the hardbite cleats this boot was amazing. I easily waded accross massive rocks without slipping, didn't even need my wading staff. Still can't believe I was gripping on the rocks that were covered in algea and submerged completely under water without slipping. I've never achieved this in felt bottom boots while fishing this creek. The support around the ankles with these boots is great too. This provided me great balance without rolling my ankles.

Superb Boot Review by Bob
I have had the boot for several years. It is quite comfortable - easy to put on and take off over waders, and easy to walk to the river or walk in the river. It has held up well for over 100 fishing days. I would highly recommend the boot to anyone.

Outstanding product Review by stream stalker
After many years of buying cheaper wading boots, I finally stepped up to the plate and purchased my first pair of Simms wading boots - the Rivershed Boot. WOW!!! Incredible fit and feel. I really like the material used inside the boot - I believe it is neoprene. Having the neoprene inside the boot makes them go on and off very easily. In addition, I had my doubts about the vibram sole. I was leary that it would provide enough traction on rocks (like felt does). Well, my leariness is gone. The Vibram sole is great on rocks and allows me to also climb up and down muddy river banks. Just an awesome boot..........try one, you will agree.

Not quite gonna do it! Review by Headwaters angler
I've come to understand that I fish extremely too much and have always struggled to find wading boots that last more than a season. These boots had the potential in the beginning but after their first full year the toe lip was peeling off, the toe wrapping was cracking apart, the material surrounding the laces was completely disintegrating and the soles were wearing very thin. They're still really comfortable and are a great concept, but the materials and construction have failed me.

Rivershed boots Review by rapala bill
Great boots very light, great grip and very easy to slip on,very well made and dry out quickly. They handle the scottish terrain very well,i have added the new style cleat to the soles and have yet to slip on grass or rock.

Best Boot for Hiking Review by Redbear
These are the boots to buy if you trail hike and/or wade "aggressively." I just bought my second pair with the newer StreamTread sole and two packs of AlumiBite Star Cleats because my first pair after four or five years of hard use have just started to show a bit of sole peel on the front end, although they will likely get me through this next season. They have worn and performed better than the previous four pairs of wading boots I have owned. Given the quality of these boots, the price is fair and competitive. How much is a broken leg going to cost you?

A Solid Boot Review by Justin
These boots have provided me with great comfort and stability hiking in demanding backcountry. The lightweight construction allows me to move aroung all day without fatigue. Great traction both in and out of the water.

The Older Model was Better Review by Jason D
I got these boots after seeing how much my father enjoyed them, but upon getting mine, I noticed that they were not as comfortable, nor as stable, as my fathers pair. Mine do not have any ankle padding or support in them. Of course I didn't notice this until I used them for one day and was unable to return them. I was quite disappointed because I bought these for the ankle support that I saw on my fathers. Without that padding, they feel like any other competitors wading boot. I am not impressed for what I paid for these.
