Product Care

Footwear Care:

For proper cleaning of your footwear to descrease the likelihood of spreading Aquatic Invasive Species, please reference our CleanStream™ page.

If using in saltwater always clean and rinse to prevent corrosion.

Use a brush to remove dust and dirt. Choose an old vegetable brush or toothbrush. For maximum thoroughness, remove laces prior to cleaning. Use specialized boot cleaner, saddle soap or maybe a mild dishwashing soap with luke-warm water.

Do not use bar soap or detergents.

Do not place wet boots close to a heat source (fireplace, campfire, wood stove, radiator, heater, sunny windowsill) as this can weaken adhesives and cause materials to become brittle or shrink.

Dry using natural methods (air dry) and try to keep them out of the sun for long periods of time. Boots dry faster when positioned upside-down. If desired, stuff a sheet or two of newspaper into each boot to absorb moisture. Change the paper each hour.

If you see any mold on your boots, brush in a mixture of 80% water and 20% vinegar.

Over time the use of leather conditioners may provide increased water repellency and can prevent cracking and drying of the leather.

Store footwear in a place where temperatures are stable and normal. Do not store footwear in attics, garages, car trunks or any unventilated spaces.

Never put footwear in washing machine.

Excellent wet wading light shoe Review by Charlie
Overall

Charlie 7/5/2015

I really appreciate the degree of thought that has gone into designing this shoe. I have had a couple pairs of similar wet wading shoes made by other companies and the RipRap is far superior. I fish the high WV mountain streams all spring, summer and fall in this type wading shoe with only thin polypropyleneIfooties for some added comfort. It is the little things that really make the difference with the RipRap: the tread grips the rocky surfaces that most often encounter and I have not slipped while wearing these shoes, they are very light and I find that I do not tire as easily wearing these shoes, the fit is perfect and the insole totally comfortable, the tie string and zip lock work flawlessly, the tabs at the heal for pulling the shoes on is perfectly sized unlike some others I have owned, the shoe drains and drys perfectly and quickly when turned upside down for a few hours and the support around the foot is excellent. It is pretty obvious that some of your guys tested these shoes and made meaningful recommendations for making these shoes function the way a crazy fishermen wants things to work.

Wish I found these long ago Review by Brookies
Overall

Brookies 6/28/2015

Don't know how long these have been produced but these are by far the best wading shoes I've ever owned. I've owned 9 different kinds over the years and none even came close to these. You can hike for miles on trails and through the woods just like a hiking shoe and once you get to the water they grip better than any other wading shoe out there. I've only used them about a dozen times so far but they seem very well made and aren't showing any signs of wear.
I'm buying another pair in case they change or discontinue them.

Please make a high top Review by Sinking

Waded all day in these shoes along with neoprene socks and they were very comfortable. My only issue is when I ran into mud. I kept losing them and had to dig them out. Need a high top version!

These are HUGE Review by Fish101
Overall

Fish101 5/21/2015

These are absolute huge. Order 1-2 sizes lower. If you're an 11 order a 9. They are definitely made to have a neoprene booty inside, which is counter-intuitive with wet wading. Most people wet wade with no sock, or a thin sock; so these are sized WAY too big.

Otherwise, great shoe. Think Simms.. Think. Wet wading is with a thin or no-sock. Kinda common sense.

I have two pair in reserve Review by Ralph
Overall

Ralph 4/14/2015

I live in these things and burn through a pair and a half each season. I have two pair, unused in the closet in case they get discontinued or "improved"! I get blisters where the top of the heel rubs, but that is easily cured by wearing a pair of the thin Simms neoprene socks. They are flexible which at times make them more stable than cleated hard footbed wading shoes. Love them!

Excellent shoe for saltwater wading Review by Mike
Overall

Mike 2/4/2015

I have had these shoes for 3 years and have used them extensively in Ascension Bay and Christmas Island and they have worked great! They work well with wet wading socks or bare feet equally. They are very quick to pull on if casting from the deck of the boat in bare feet and have to get out quickly to pursue a fish on a hard or abrasive/sharp bottom.

Love them Review by Paul

Paul 11/8/2014

I've had one pair for about 15 months, and have a new unused pair.

I really like them.

One thing that could use some work is the stitching around the foot opening. On both shoes of the original pair, it's come out. I fixed it with heavier thread and a sewing awl, but it would seem a simple factory fix to upgrade that stitching.

Best summer water shoe ever Review by Dowizm
Overall

Dowizm 9/16/2014

I bought the Keen version of this and always filled with rocks. These keep the rocks out. I have a 17' skiff and go from beach to beach in the Puget Sound area and am always in and out of my boat. These grip great, feel great wet and are comfortable all day.

Great for wading! Review by Vince
Overall

Vince 9/11/2014

I used to wet wade in Keens, but I was constantly dealing with little rocks getting into the shoes. These are great because the mesh on the sides keeps all of the little rocks out. The Vibram soles grip great and they are super comfortable.
