CleanStream™

Product Care

Footwear Care:

For proper cleaning of your footwear to descrease the likelihood of spreading Aquatic Invasive Species, please reference our CleanStream™ page.

If using in saltwater always clean and rinse to prevent corrosion.

Use a brush to remove dust and dirt. Choose an old vegetable brush or toothbrush. For maximum thoroughness, remove laces prior to cleaning. Use specialized boot cleaner, saddle soap or maybe a mild dishwashing soap with luke-warm water.

Do not use bar soap or detergents.

Do not place wet boots close to a heat source (fireplace, campfire, wood stove, radiator, heater, sunny windowsill) as this can weaken adhesives and cause materials to become brittle or shrink.

Dry using natural methods (air dry) and try to keep them out of the sun for long periods of time. Boots dry faster when positioned upside-down. If desired, stuff a sheet or two of newspaper into each boot to absorb moisture. Change the paper each hour.

If you see any mold on your boots, brush in a mixture of 80% water and 20% vinegar.

Over time the use of leather conditioners may provide increased water repellency and can prevent cracking and drying of the leather.

Store footwear in a place where temperatures are stable and normal. Do not store footwear in attics, garages, car trunks or any unventilated spaces.

Never put footwear in washing machine.

Technology

Technologies

  • CleanStream™ is a design philosophy that runs through our line of wading footwear. While not specific to a product feature, this designation does indicate that the product includes features and/or materials that are more resistant to "hitch-hiking" organisms – have less exposed stitching, fewer ridges & pockets and utilize non-absorbent materials – all making the boots easier to inspect, clean and dry faster. All of these elements assist anglers in doing their part to prevent the spread of invasive species. For more information, please visit our CleanStream™ page or these organizations: www.cleanangling.org, www.protectyourwaters.net or www.tu.org.

  • The StreamTread™ sole featuring Vibram® technology is exclusive to Simms. Co-developed with Vibram®, the leader in sole technology, StreamTread™ provides two distinct advantages compared to other soles. One is a patented 360-degree lug pattern that cuts through moss and mud. The second is a proprietary mix of rubber compounds that offer super grippy traction, are extremely easy to clean and ensure that the boots don’t collect a lot of debris.

  • Vibram® soles are built from the bottom up and are designed to overcome very specific obstacles on a variety of terrains. Vibram® invests heavily in research and development of products never overlooking even the most minute detail. Vibram® soles boast innovative compounds and technical sole patterns, specifically developed to meet the challenges of many different environments and applications. www.vibram.us

Best wading boots that I have ever owned. Review by Alex
Overall
I have had these boots for 3 years now and love then. The only thing that I ever had to do to fix these boots was only to replace the laces once! I recently put in the hard bite cleats on and love them even more (which I didn't think was possible). They handle everything from ice to mud to boulders very well and with great ankle and foot support. Once my current pair finally wears out I will get another pair to replace it. Simms, as usual, developed an exceptional product again!

Rivershed Boots conquered The Miracle Mile and Grey Reef in Wyoming Review by SalmotruttaSLaYeR
Overall
Having grown up wading one stream in felt boots, i was very skeptical of the grip potential of the so-called 'streamtread.' I decided, however, that for my latest trip there would be quite a bit of hiking, rock jumping, climbing in and out of canyons, and some swift wading. Taking those things into account I immediately went to Simms website and after some research, ordered the Rivershed boot. I was absolutely blown away by the amount of grip i got on mossy and smooth submerged rocks. My boots dried everynight and were ready for the next days fishing. And I simply cannot say enough about the Streamtread soles, as I waded on all surfaces through waist deep current without a hitch. Thank you Simms.

Near Perfect Review by Stihlhead
Overall
Very well made boots that are easy to get in and out of.

Vibram is good on pretty much any surface. The soles are coming away a little at the toes but considering the amount of walking I do on boulder strewn rivers looking for salmon they have held up well so far as i go into my third year with them.

Worth the money.

Year 4 Review by daved810
Overall
I'm in the 4th year of using these, and they get a lot of use. They are light and very comfortable. For those of you that use cheaper boots the ankle support may be a bit awkward at first but you will quickly adapt. I use the alumibite cleats as well. I find they are an awesome combination on wet bare rock. Hiking in and out is a breeze. I love how they slip off so easily. Some others have complained how the sole peels from the toe. I bought from a reputable fly shop in Calgary and he told me to expect it, and when it happens just to trim it off - that was 4 years ago. I'm finally wearing the vibram sole down, and I'll just replace the sole. Simms makes it easy - 60 bucks! I used to by cheap boots every 18 months...not anymore. What a difference. Great buy. I'll buy the same boots again when I need to.

almost perfect Review by salmon nut
Overall
bought these boots in spring and used them twice. now that it's salmon season i've been in them another 8 or 9 times in the past 2 months. i love everything about these boots! super comfy and light. i dig the rubber rand around the whole boot. great for hiking up the river and wading BUT to my dismay after less than 12 uses the rubber sole has begun to peel off at the toe. i'm sure simms will be good about fixing/replacing them but it's prime coho time and i can't afford to be without these babies shipping them off for several weeks. guess i'll try to find a window to ship back when the action slows down. so i'm giving 3 stars cause they delaminated so qiuckly but everything else about the boot rocks.

Very good boot Review by Rick
Overall
The best wading boot I have worn. Easy walking & comfortable. In my second year with the Rivershed boot and they are holding up well. I was initially concerned about moving away from felt but the vibram bottom is holding well even on the tricky bottom of the Schuylkill River. More quality & value over other top line boots I have owned.

Great Boot; Great Value Review by Fishing Guy
Overall
I am only on the water 50-60 days per year, many of which are in a boat. But i wear boots every time I am out because you never know if you're going to get into a situation where they may be needed.

Every day i wear these, they provide great traction, stability and support. On top of it, they're incredibly comfortable and durable.

Highly recommend these to anyone thinking about new fishing boots!
