CleanStream™

Product Care

Boa® Boot Care:

For proper cleaning of your boots to descrease the likelihood of spreading Aquatic Invasive Species, please reference our CleanStream™ page.

If using in saltwater always clean and rinse to prevent corrosion.

Use a brush to remove dust and dirt. Choose an old vegetable brush or toothbrush. Do not use bar soap or detergents.

Do not place wet boots close to a heat source (fireplace, campfire, wood stove, radiator, heater, sunny windowsill) as this can weaken adhesives and cause materials to become brittle or shrink.

Dry using natural methods (air dry) and try to keep them out of the sun for long periods of time. Boots dry faster when positioned upside-down. If desired, stuff a sheet or two of newspaper into each boot to absorb moisture. Change the paper each hour.

If you see any mold on your boots, brush in a mixture of 80% water and 20% vinegar.

Store boots in a place where temperatures are stable and normal. Do not store footwear in attics, garages, car trunks or any unventilated spaces.

Never put boots in washing machine.

Boa® Closure System Care:

We recommend regular cleaning of the eyelets and reel mechanism to prevent sand and silt from prematurely wearing on the cables. Use the tool provided to remove the reel and rinse thoroughly on a regular basis. This will ensure a long life for your Boa® system.

Boa® cables will need replacing over time just like a normal lacing system.

Boa® replacement cables are available on the Simms website, directly from Boa® or you can purchase spares at most fly shops. Always a good idea especially on destination trips.

All of these elements assist anglers in doing their part to prevent the spread of invasive species. Boa Boot rocks Review by River Ninja
Overall
To the guy that wrote a bad review from Pulaski NY. Are You just *&^%@# stupid, or do you just not understand that warring these shoes on bare slippery rock coated with growth over in the NY salmon river, of course it's going to be slippery because you either need studded boots or you should just be wearing felt! I fish these waters all the way from Ohio to New York wearing these shoes in search of steelhead. I would probably kill my self, because these waters contain a lot of flat rock, with very little sediment/mud. Thats why I have studs. Nothing pisses me of more when people shoot their mouth off without fully understanding certain variable factors. But over all this is the best boot that money can buy! You just have to know how to adapt to certain situations "you need a certain amount of basic knowledge in order to begin to even understand certain concepts & how they work." AWESOME BOOT.

RiverTek Boa Boot Review by ICHItheKILLER
Overall
Love them! Very comfortable. I put HardBite, and AlumiBite studs on my pair and I had no slips while walking on smooth rock wet or dry, I also walked on rough rock and no slips. I would like the Boa lace system to tighten up a lot more stronger thats just me, I would like to know that the lace system could take the punishment, but it does seem to work very well. I will stay with the Boa model boots and buy again when these wear out.

Excellente Review by Blizfresh
Overall
This is a great boot! The boa technology makes it easy to slip on and off. I fish the bighorn in December and even when your gravel guards are frozen over. Excellent

Excellent Boot Review by Aaron A.
Overall
I have been fly fishing for 33 years and believe these are great boots for beginners and veterans alike. I recently purchased them and the G3 Convertible to replace my old one-piece wader system. I have always preferred the one-piece design over bending in waders to lace a boot but the BOA was a great answer to the boot drawback. The first use of the new system was for my recent trip to the Salmon River in Pulaski, NY. As anyone experienced in fishing the swift-moving waters of Pulaski knows, Vibram soles alone will not do the job. I actually opted for the Orvis studs because of their durability and the tendency of Simms star to pry out of the boot sole more easily. If fitted properly, these boots tighten comfortably around the foot and ankle giving stable support in any condition. Just remember to keep the BOA mechanism properly cleaned. By the way, the G3 was a fabulous performer as well.

STUDS, STUDS and MORE STUDS Review by Peter Hall
Overall
Well, I spent a week in Pulaski fishing, caught a boat-load of fish and only went swimming twice! The new STREAM TREAD technology for the textured bottom is totally useless without an army of studs (nearly twenty per boot). It's only because of the BOA system that I give these boots a rating as high as 3. It's about the only thing I've seen from Simms that didn't come close to a perfect rating. The fact that I had to add the HARDBITE STAR CLEATS and the HARDBITE STUDS, to get a decent grip was a little pricy (and really annoying to add the studs) to say the least. Keep this in mind when considering the price of these boots.

Not for the Avid Review by mbserious
Overall
I fished this boot one day on the Roaring Fork. Very easy to get on and off and the lacing system is very cool. However, if you are an avid fly guy and fish hard in difficult waters this is not the boot for you. The lacing system just cant get tight enough to support the ankles. I love Simms products, just know this boot is for more casual fishing situations.

Easy on/off Review by Deepwader
Overall
Get cleats or studs (preferably both). Boots are super comfortable right out of the box. Boa system works pretty well, I just wish they would get tighter. Overall, a comfortable, durable boot.

BOA River Tek Boot Review by Adirondack Guide
Overall
Very comfortable, the BOA lacing system is everything it claims to be...the boot is easy to get in and out off. I use the cleats on my boots, they provide the grip you need, not as secure as felt...I suggest using both the cleats and studs.
