- Product Care
GORE-TEX® Outerwear Care:
Cleaning your GORE-TEX® garments regularly will extend the life of the product. It will also keep them breathable as dirt and oil can clog the GORE-TEX® membrane over time.
It is critical to wash jackets. Natural oils can damage the GORE-TEX® tape and adhesives causing a peeling effect.
Machine wash warm. Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
Remember to zip all pockets and close all Velcro cuffs before washing to prevent any damage caused by the machine.
Tumble dry on warm setting making sure not to use a high heat setting. Drying on warm will actually reactivate the DWR coating.
GORE-TEX® Performance Shell outerwear is waterproof, lightweight, durable and breathable. It’s designed to provide excellent, long-lasting performance in a wide range of conditions.
Little Parts from the YKK® Fastening Products Group create The Big Difference for our customers — fastening solutions intelligently integrated with the finished product to provide the highest quality, most durable gear. The Little Parts — zippers, metal buttons and snaps, and Nylon buckles — all earn the YKK® brand. The Big Difference begins with their obsession to ensure that every individual component renders maximum value to the finished whole. That commitment instills quality and value into every product. Simms utilizes fasteners built to withstand the harshest environments and YKK® provides the best solutions to meet those needs. All Simms outerwear features nylon YKK® zippers to minimize corrosion and provide high performing, durable wear. www.ykkamerica.com.
Primaloft® Gold insulation maintains 90% of its warmth when wet and provides the highest warmth to weight ratio of any synthetic insulation available.
At Simms, sun protection is a critical component of our sportswear offering. Through a combination of fabric construction, design and finish, we offer a wide range of clothing that features a minimum UPF of 30 (very good) up to UPF of 50 (excellent). UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much of the sun's UV radiation is absorbed. A fabric with a rating of 50 will allow only 1/50th of the sun's UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric will reduce your skin's UV radiation exposure significantly. All of our UPF finishes last the life of the garment, an industry standard of 30 washings.
- STEELERHEADERS DREAM COAT Review by Hugh
OverallUsed my Bulkley this early winter when temps were mid 20's to 40 with wind, sleet and snow. One of the best purchased I've made from Simms. It's a must have if you fish in the cold and cuts down on multiple layering. Super soft, exceptionably comfortable, lightweight and most definitely water and wind proof. Good fit in the shoulders and arms for layering. Interior is super slick so no binding. Insulated hood is a real plus to keep the heat in and wind out. Some mention the fit of the hood and I understand what they say, but to me the fit is far better than my G4 jacket if you wearing a tassel cap. It keeps the cap from riding up on your hear and the bill of the hood doesn't fall down over your eyes. If it 40 degrees or more, leave it in the car as it's too warm. Hand warmer pockets are nice and big. Would be nice if there was an interior pocket.

- Great Jacket Both on and Off the Water! Review by Bugs
OverallThis jacket really lives up to all the claims. I've worn my Bulkey in the snow, rain and cold that Upper Michigan can throw at you - what a jackete! The warmth that Primloft offers is excellent and the Gore-Tex holds-up in heavy rain. I've had no issues with the hood that others have reported. I've worn a cap with the hood cinched down a bit and that seems to take care of keeping the rain off my glasses. Nicely done Simms - another great product!

- Ready for anything Review by LaramieAngler
OverallI wear this jacket during the colder months in SE Wyoming and it performs very well. The Primaloft insulation is as good as you can get short of actual down feathers, and it is perfectly distributed around the jacket in the right zones. Having the Gore-Tex shell paired with this insulation is what really puts this piece above similar pieces from other companies. The pockets are very generous for fly boxes and gear and the hand warmer pockets are placed higher up to keep them out of the water and out of the way from getting snagged on gear. I also wear this jacket occasionally while skiing and around town, and I love the comfort and ease of movement it affords. I'd say the cut and fit of this piece is a bit on the generous side, but that is helpful when wearing it over waders and with additional layers on underneath when needed. The only (slight) drawback to the piece, as mentioned in other reviews, is that the hood is a tad shallow and lacks the 3-point adjustments that other pieces have. It would be nice (especially when the wind come s up) to be able to cinch the hood down to the face on each side of the hood, not just using the rear adjustment. All in all the piece is bomber and very durable. It keeps you DRY and WARM, and that is what it is supposed to do!

OverallBought a jacket for this season. Very pleased with it. Jacket retains heat very well. Even with a fairly strong cold you feel comfortable in it. A very good product.

- Awsome Jacket Review by Hendy
OverallThis jacket keeps you warm by keeping the heat in and blocking the wind. I like that it is thin and you don't need many layers under it. I have used it on the rivers, snow blowing the driveway, and playing in the snow with the kids, and its great! The pockets are big enough for a few boxes, so for winter fishing you don't even need a pack. I like that you can clip zingers and tippet holders right on the front of the jacket! A great Product!

- Awesome Jacket Review by Happy Alaskan
OverallI needed a good winter jacket that could stand the winter Steelhead season and I am glad I chose this one. I have had this jacket for two years now and at first I thought it was to light of a coat to keep you warm in the winter, but after using it on the Situk where it would freeze, rain, and snow, this jacket kept me warm the entire trip even after reaching into the water to grab the fish. I tried it the other day when it reached below 0 and only had my shirt and a really thin fleece underneath it and it kept me warm walking outside. The one thing I don't like about the coat is that the hood is lined with that fabric and when I am walking or moving my head it is kind of loud and I have a hard time hearing, other than that it is a really warm coat and fights what mother nature has to offer.

- Comfortable/ Great Jacket Review by Clayton
OverallI just got done with two bass tournaments this past weekend. There was as cold front that came in and it rained for hours, it was 34 degrees, and the wind was around 20 mph. I bought this jacket because I hear so many great things about this brand and all the Bassmaster Elite pros represent this company proudly. This product did not disappoint by any means and I will recommend it to everybody that is involved in the outdoors. It is amazing how warm and dry I stayed the entire day! The wind was practically non-existent. The technology is incredible to say the least. I shall buy many more products from Simms in the future. Great job guys!

- Finally! Review by Tangoboy
OverallNorthwest b.c. Coast fishing means months of cold rain and snow and wind. All in one day all day long. After years of being wet and cold on the rivers or along the ocean, this ended with this jacket. Period. Well done overall. A bit of work on the hood and we have the perfection jacket. No more hiding under a tree waiting for the rain to slow down, no more sitting in the truck til the weather changes. More fishing time so more fish. Simple. Good one!

- great jacket, Review by Captain Bill
OverallI have been wearing the Bulkey jacket Steelhead fishing in northern Michigan this spring and last week we went from cold hard rain to sleet and finished the week with snow and rain. The only thing I miss in the jacket is another pocket on the front like a side pocket that zips that you can get to without unzipping the front of the coat. I wore the Gore-Tex ExStream hat under the hood and man oh man what a combination.

- Great for Colorado Winter on the Ice Review by Capt. Ross - Fort Myers, FL
OverallI bought this jacket for an ice fishing trip in Colorado. Morning temps were below zero, but with a few under layers, this jacket kept me warm. Very comfortable and nice fit. It was "generic" enough to wear out in public with out feeling like I was wearing a fishing jacket. Too bad it's way to warm to use here in FL......
