- fantastic Review by 635splash
OverallThe jacket is well made and very comfortable and warm when you need them. I fish northern California in 32 degree of wading water in January. This jacket match my exstream pants from Simms. Now I have the complete outfit and tested it in the cold Trinity River and ready for all other rivers. The first purchase was my Simms exstream pants and that sold me. So I look for the jacket and they are great and I am complete for the weather. Here I come Washington, Oregon and California. I will not have to wish to be warm in wading cold water. I had to get these in Oregon because California retailers feel this jacket and pant is an overkill garment because it too warm for California. Not so....been in Trinity Rivers in low as 30 degree...i measure it when I enter the water. You can wish to have this jacket when you are already in the water. You have to have it NOW and be ready. Buy them

- Great product, clean lines, fits like a glove Review by Will
OverallThis jacket is my go to in the fall (in particular) for those cool outings on the river or lake. It's a comfortable fit, with adjustable velcro cuffs to tighten up for under gloves, or just to keep out the elements. It's practical in the way it tightens at the waist and at the hood -- easily adjustable, and accessible.
Only improvements to suggest would include a heavier main zipper, and the inside sleeve material at the wrist stitched a bit tighter to keep the inside sleeve material from protruding when the hand exits.
All in all, a solid product and a serious piece of technical fishing gear.

- Love it! Review by Ken
OverallMy guide, Miguel @ EMB, on the Rio Grande was wearing it and he loved it. I needed a new layer so I came home and bought the jacket. Today I wore it xc skiing and it was perfect. Now to catch a 20 lb. sea run brown trout in it!

- Above and Beyond Review by Uncle Ben
OverallI got this jacket to take up to Alaska guiding. I have been breaking it in all winter here in Minnesota. If you want a nice warm and low maintenance jacket this is a great jacket. The detachable hood and chest pocket along with the extra length in the back are nice. Kudos to the design team!

- Simply perfect.. Review by Duckman
OverallBesides being a fisherman, I am a waterfowl extremist. I enjoy cold mornings in a duck blind and an afternoon of chasing muskie in the winter. There are great name brands for hunting clothing, but none can compare to Simms quality and fit. And the Extream jacket is no exception. Great fit, look, and extreamly warm. I layer it under a camo wader shell to hide from the ducks, and it's a perfect stand alone while slinging my favorite muskie lure. The only criticism I can find to say, Simms, can you please make more outerwear in camo patterns.
Simms is not just a brand, it's a life style.

- Tuff Stuff Review by Conor
OverallThis jacket is money. Over the summer and fall I was working up in Alaska and wore it once the frost was on the ground through river freeze-up. It kept me warm a dry under all sorts of conditions.
The shell material is fantastic. I routinely bushwhacked through gnarly understory vegetation, the jacket brushed off thick alder and devil's club like they were grass. No tears, snags, or runs in the fabric.
The fit hugs close to the body without being constricting. One nice feature is that the shell material runs up the inside of the cuffs, so when dipping your hands in the river the water runs off and keeps your wrists relatively dry.
Other insulating jackets may be lighter and pack down smaller but those are small sacrifices for what you get with this coat. Between insulating value, water repellency, and tough material, you can't go wrong with this. Like the other reviewer said, "it's become my go to jacket..."

- Love this jacket! Review by Salvatore
OverallLet me begin by explaining that this jacket is not JUST a fishing jacket. I test gear for GORE, but this has become my "go to" jacket during the cold weather season, PERIOD. I wear it to work every day in the winter, and wear it on the water every day while fishing in the fall/winter/spring when the weather is cold. This jacket is comparable to the "big name brand" jackets that cost way more than this, and don't offer the protection, or specialization for fishing that this does.
I wore this steelheading this past winter, the jacket kept me plenty warm and provided me more than enough flexibility while swinging flies and chasing chrome!
The snow/rain would just bead up and roll of the jacket, I never felt wet or damp.
The jacket fits close to the body, I think this is a positive attribute for this specific jacket as layering isn't needed, and it demonstrates Simms taking into account the "fishermens" needs while constructing this jacket. No bulk to snag your lines like other jackets.
Plenty warm, this insulation is fantastic, pockets are perfect and warm your fingers on those chilly mornings.
Once the sun comes out and it heats up, i am able to pack the jacket down into my sling pack and fish until it gets chilly again.
Love this jacket.
