Why Outerwear?
- Product Care
GORE-TEX® Outerwear Care:
Cleaning your GORE-TEX® garments regularly will extend the life of the product. It will also keep them breathable as dirt and oil can clog the GORE-TEX® membrane over time.
It is critical to wash jackets. Natural oils can damage the GORE-TEX® tape and adhesives causing a peeling effect.
Machine wash warm. Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
Remember to zip all pockets and close all Velcro cuffs before washing to prevent any damage caused by the machine.
Tumble dry on warm setting making sure not to use a high heat setting. Drying on warm will actually reactivate the DWR coating.

- Worked beautifully in miserable Montana weather Review by DocScott
-
Overall I recently wore my G4 pro on an April trip in Montana in a variety of sketchy weather ranging from wind and cool rain on the Yellowstone to a miserably snowy day on the Bitteroot to a 19 degree morning on Rock Creek and finally a windy sprinkling day on the Big Hole. The jacket kept me dry in all conditions and warm due to it's wind blocking effects. The large back pocket was perfect for adding and removing layers as weather conditions changed. The front pockets made my slingpack all but useless as i could store all my essential tools and flies right in my jacket. Awesome to own this thing.(Posted on 4/14/13)
- Great Value very reliable Review by Tyler C

Overall I have had my G4 waders and Jacket for two full guiding seasons now and they have worked flawlessly. Last week while fishing a local river in mid-january in the northern rockies I had a slip and fall in the river, I then proceeded to float along for a ways, quite startled at my state of affairs. Once I had sorted my self out and managed to get my footing. I was very surprised to see that since I hadn't dunked right under the water I was still bone dry and able to keep fishing. 150 plus days and still completely waterproof. Thanks Simms.(Posted on 1/21/13)

Overall Replaced a Cloudveil jacket that is no longer made. Can't buy Pategonia since they screwed all the flyfishing reps... Works perfect in those downpours we've had since October. Way more confortable then my old rain jacket, plus the pit zips don't leak. Even works for mushroom hunting when the river is blown out. Great fit, totally dry, and just in time for the moonsoon season....(Posted on 11/8/12)
- Durable and Dry Review by Ryan

Overall I've used this jacket for years guiding in Alaska, and it will keep you dry! When you are in a place like AK, going to be on the water for 10hr days while its raining, this will keep you as dry as can be. My only complaint would be that sometimes while tying a fly on or what not, I'll put the rod in my pit and the line will get stuck on the pit zips. My next jacket won't have pit zips.(Posted on 8/9/12)
- Best Rain Jacket Ever Review by The Reptile

Overall I used my G4 first in Alaska and it made my week. I love fishing in the rain and cold with this jacket. Home in Oregon swinging flies in bad weather is no problem with this jacket. Freezing cold - just cinch up the waste and wrist and you are like toast - dry and warm. Simms did a greatd job on this jacket. Best Rain Jacket Ever.

- Not worth the money Review by Spencer

Overall I was relatively pleased with this jacket for the first few months I owned it, but then things began going wrong. Within the first week of ownership, one of the zingers broke, dropping my hemostats into the river. The second zinger failed a few months later. Still it was keeping me dry, but that would change once winter rolled around. By last March, having only owned the jacket for 5 months, it was already leaking pretty bad. By May, I was getting completely soaked within a few hours of a decent rain. For a $500 jacket, this is inexcusable. This Fall, in anticipation of rain, I patched some holes in the shoulders and sleeves, and reapplied the DWR coating, per Simms instructions. Doing this improved the waterproofing for a month or so, but here I am again, in Winter, with a jacket that leaks like crazy. I've probably worn this jacket 40 times in total, and it's pretty much worthless at this point. Not a good deal.

- Simply the Best! Review by Gaz

Overall When you fish in Ireland be prepared to have all four seasons within a day! When its bad, its bad, theres nothing to stop the rain and wind rolling off the Atlantic. After 8 hours solid fishing in non stop rain and your boat partner has stopped talking because they're soaked to the skin, your still dry and smiling.

- I am JEALOUS! Review by Michael

Overall I went drift fishing with my daughter's boyfriend and he told us to bring waterproof gear. He wore the G4 Pro Jacket and I didn't. I THOUGHT I was going to stay dry...WRONG! My rubber jacket leaked like a sieve and I was miserable for 8 hours! Took all the fun out of fishing! I can't wait to be able to buy the G4. I won't go fishing again until I get one!

[Simms translation]: Just perfect, I use all year in France and in Spain, whatever the weather (and I'm not particularly gentle) and my jacket is completely waterproof. Cuff and clamping system handles is made of silk or down s line does not catch. I recommend it. just a quick clamping system bemol the bottom of the jacket is impractical for my taste and wading deep into it retains the water - think about it Mr. Simms.
