The Foundation's Seal of Recommendation is granted to sun protection products that have been reviewed by and meet the stringent criteria of an independent Photobiology Committee. One of the first programs offered by the Foundation, it quickly gained acceptance from consumers for setting the standard for effective sun protection with sunscreen products, sunglasses, specially treated auto and residential window film, umbrellas, clothing and laundry products that wash UV protection into clothing. To earn the Seal of Recommendation, a manufacturer must provide scientific data showing that its product sufficiently and safely “aids in the prevention of sun-induced damage to the skin.” The data are reviewed by a volunteer committee of photobiologists – experts in the study of the interaction between ultraviolet radiation and the skin. At Simms, sun protection is a critical component of our sportswear offering. Through a combination of fabric construction, design and finish, we offer a wide range of clothing that features a minimum UPF of 30 (very good) up to UPF of 50 (excellent). UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much of the sun's UV radiation is absorbed. A fabric with a rating of 50 will allow only 1/50th of the sun's UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric will reduce your skin's UV radiation exposure significantly. All of our UPF finishes last the life of the garment, an industry standard of 30 washings.

Overall I have tried nearly every brand of sun glove out there and have never been satisfied. Once I found these, I'm sold. So super lightweight and thin that you'll forget you have them on! They become part of my hand, and I have complete dexterity. After months of poling and fishing they are still going strong. My favorite feature is surprisingly the snaps so that I never loose one glove!(Posted on 12/13/12)

Overall the only other gloves i have used for fishing were a pair of wool fingerless ones for winter, i was skeptical in buying gloves for the summer because i thought sunscreen does the trick. well, after using these, im a believer in the gloves. i love that it doesn't feel like im wearing anything on my hands but have full protection from the sun without having to reapply sunscreen every hour. these will see a lot of use over the summer. the open palm lets you still grip things like rocks when your climbing up a steep bank and get a good feel of the grip of your rod, i have them in the simms camo and even the game warden complemented them. and i can throw up the horns for pictures without the gloves stretching all weird.(Posted on 7/16/12)
