  • At Simms, sun protection is a critical component of our sportswear offering.  Through a combination of fabric construction, design and finish, we offer a wide range of clothing that features a minimum UPF of 30 (very good) up to UPF of 50 (excellent).  UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much of the sun's UV radiation is absorbed.  A fabric with a rating of 50 will allow only 1/50th of the sun's UV rays to pass through.  This means the fabric will reduce your skin's UV radiation exposure significantly.  All of our UPF finishes last the life of the garment, an industry standard of 30 washings.

  • DuPont™ Teflon® water and stain-repellent, for superior comfort and performance in weather conditions that range from balmy to abysmal.

Just as good Review by Mike
Overall
The world moves on. I liked the old Simms shorts as well, but these are just as good - they're just different. The new shorts are durable, comfortable, and look good. I personally think they cost top dollar, but will last a long time so value is there. I live in Texas and wear shorts everyday. These are the best I've ever owned..

Pls bring the old guide back Review by Ivan
Overall
These shorts are fine, but I really miss the old ones. After several years of virtually daily wear, two of my four original models recently became indecent. The current fabric just isn't as comfortable as the original cotton. I would gladly be damp a little longer for an otherwise better feel.

Old Guide Shorts Review by swaugh
Overall
Simms product management should strongly reconsider the Guide Shorts of 4 to 5 yrs ago! They were lightweight, durable and designed to perfection. The elastic with a draw string waist made them comfortable and easy. The two cargo pockets along with the length of the shorts were perfect for hunting doves, beach, fishing or just day to day wear. Bring them back please!!

So, they are not the same Review by Bruce
Overall
So I have been scouring the local fishing shops looking for the Guide Shorts I bought 4-5 years ago. Apparently i can stop looking and agree with the other 2 comments - they were the most comfortable shorts I have had and would recommend Simms - Bring em Back!

Bring 'em back SIMMS Review by PCGuy
Overall
These newer shorts are OK, but not as good as the pair (fortunately I have two) of the dual large cargo pocket light weight cotton shorts with full elastic waist I bought a few years ago. I know that they have been discountinued and "improved" but would love to see SIMMS bring them back. They were the BEST and much more roomy and comfortable than what are currently offered.

Okay, liked old ones better... Review by Maccadon
Overall
I got a new pair of the Guide Shorts as a gift, and I have to be honest, I'm not crazy about them. I LOVED the older models the last few years that were made from performance cotton. They were great lightweight shorts that breathed and were comfortable. They may not have dried as quickly as the new ones, made out of synthetic nylon, but they were alot better in warmer weather, which is when you are usually wearing shorts. These have almost a "softshelly" feel to them and are much heavier.(At least they felt that way) Simms, if you are listening, make another pair of performance cotton shorts/zip-off pants for those of us who don't want synthetic materials in hot weather. That being said, of course they are well constructed because they are made with the same quality as everything else made by this great company. Just not crazy about the choice of going "synthetic".
