Why Simms Waders

Why GORE-TEX®?

Product Care

GORE-TEX® Wader Care:

The #1 tip to prolonging the life of a wader is drying your waders. It is important to dry your waders out after each use. We recommend drying the inside first (if damp) and then the outside. When drying the outside you can pull your gravel guards up until the feet are dry and then flip them down to dry the rest of the wader

Washing - Use a front load machine or hand wash. Use cold water and normal detergent that does not contain bleach. Once you have washed the waders make sure you dry them properly start by drying the inside first. Never put your waders in the dryer, the heat will adversely affect the seam tape on your waders and will void your warranty.

Fit - We offer more sizes than anyone, a good fit goes a long way to extending the life of your wader. Make it clear that people should use their exact measurements as we have already provided extra room for layering and movement.

General Care - Do not store inside your car for long periods of time excess heat will damage your waders.

Use A Mat - Always put your waders on using a protective mat to shield the neoprene feet from rocks. The Headwaters gear bag for example has a pull out mat that works great for this.

Proper Layering - Do not wear jeans under your waders. Jeans are highly abrasive wearing on your waders from the inside out. More importantly jeans and sweatpants do not transfer moisture away from the body. Use proper layering (to view our layering collection, go here). Using layers such as these will help wick moisture away from your body and assist in the waders ability to breathe.

Stains - most stain removers will work fine on our waders. As long as the stain remover does not contain bleach you should be o.k.

  • The GORE-TEX® membrane is the heart of all GORE -TEX® products. The GORE-TEX® membrane contains 9 billion microscopic pores per square inch. These pores are so small that water droplets cannot get through but water vapor can still escape. Water from the outside cannot penetrate and cold winds cannot pass through, but perspiration can escape easily, keeping you dry and comfortable all day. GORE-TEX® fabrics are created by integrating the GORE-TEX® membrane between an outer fabric and lining.

Love the waders but......... Review by Jimmy D
Overall
Same as Vito the suspenders suck but I fixed that by wrapping them in duct tape problem solved . Ive had these waders for two years now and have put them through some pretty tough conditions and so far have been flawless. I bought Simms for quality and durability and that have got. Thanks Simms for a great product. Some day maybe will be able to the new G4Z those look like great waders.

Great waders - Simms are the best I've ever owned Review by Vito
Overall
Everything about them works very well, except for the incomplete "D" clips. I've had them come undone on numerous occasions. I also would suggest 3/4" snap/ clip Fastex buckles instead of the "D" clips. Or, perhaps using two clips reversed would work better.?

Regardless of this minor concern, Simms is still the best wading system I've ever used. Will not go back to bargain brands ever again. Made in USA is the way to go for me!

Ok Waders Review by Benjamin
Overall
I was really excited when I bought these waders. I had read up allot on the features. I bought these waders shortly after the change in design, with the seams coming up and down the front and back of the legs. I liked the idea of there being 30% less stitching, which means 30% less holes in the wader, and less of a chance for leaks. I didn't have any problem for about 2 years of hard wading, but in the time since those two years, it has been an up hill battle to keep the water out. My waders are now held together with aqua seal, My old guide weight waders pants lasted me six years, with allot less problems. They just don't seem to make them like they used to. I will continue to buy Simms, because they do still make a great product, but it isn't what is used to be.

Needs "D" rings for suspenders Review by Israel Wick
Overall
I have used these waders for over a year. Overall they have performed great. I enjoy having the option of pants that convert to chest waders when needed. However the flimsy open "C" rings that attach the suspenders to the wader need to be replaced with a closed "D" ring. My suspenders keep "popping" loose from my waders, through the opening in the ring, and I have to re-attach them all the time. An improvement on the velcro belt would help too.

Convertible with issues Review by Tanner
Overall
I am somewhat baffled with this wader. For years I wore the G3 Stockingfoot and absolutely loved em'. Went to the Convertible thinking I would enjoy the ability to wear them as hip waders. I could have made a worse decision. The flaws I see on a daily basis; The Tall XL's fit me in my waste like a pair of pants 6 sizes to big, when I do convert them down the hip belt has way too much excess material. Secondly, I wear the Headwaters pack, any time I bring the pack around my waiste the velcro belt comes undone. When I convert the wader to my chest the velcro constantly comes loose, I debate sitting down for every time I do the velro "pops." I love Simms and it is all I wear but I have contemplated many times arguing for them to send me a pair of G3 Stockingfoots to keep my business. Overall I am not happy with this wader and every time I wear them I feel like I wasted $450. I may be paying Bozeman a visit to discuss my future with these waders.

Ehhhhh.... Review by Tungsten
Overall
As far as durability these waders are the real deal from the waist down. The ONE glaring deficiency with these waders are the velcro attachment pieces for the upper half of the wader. The velcro very rarely holds them up and you know more times than not when I realize they've come detached, it's when I'm up above my belt in the water. A simple latch or clasp system here would solve this problem immediately but unfortunately my pair has the velcro. One other minor piece that needs to be addressed is the incomplete rectangle rings on the inside of the waders where the shoulder straps connect to the wader. The gap in the "strap holder" is too wide to constantly hold them in place. I routinely find myself having to stop what I'm doing and reattach the shoulder strap to the inside of my waders. I click in system there would suffice. Other than that, these are great.

What you been looking for! Review by Captain J.T.
Overall
Highly recommend these waders. I was sick of rolling down my waders and using the suspenders as a belt. 90% of the time I do not need the " above belt " portion of the waders, and if I do, I probably am in too deep anyway. These waders are a solution I have been waiting on for years!
