Why Simms Waders
Why GORE-TEX®?
- Product Care
GORE-TEX® Wader Care:
The #1 tip to prolonging the life of a wader is drying your waders. It is important to dry your waders out after each use. We recommend drying the inside first (if damp) and then the outside. When drying the outside you can pull your gravel guards up until the feet are dry and then flip them down to dry the rest of the wader
Washing - Use a front load machine or hand wash. Use cold water and normal detergent that does not contain bleach. Once you have washed the waders make sure you dry them properly start by drying the inside first. Never put your waders in the dryer, the heat will adversely affect the seam tape on your waders and will void your warranty.
Fit - We offer more sizes than anyone, a good fit goes a long way to extending the life of your wader. Make it clear that people should use their exact measurements as we have already provided extra room for layering and movement.
General Care - Do not store inside your car for long periods of time excess heat will damage your waders.
Use A Mat - Always put your waders on using a protective mat to shield the neoprene feet from rocks. The Headwaters gear bag for example has a pull out mat that works great for this.
Proper Layering - Do not wear jeans under your waders. Jeans are highly abrasive wearing on your waders from the inside out. More importantly jeans and sweatpants do not transfer moisture away from the body. Use proper layering (to view our layering collection, go here). Using layers such as these will help wick moisture away from your body and assist in the waders ability to breathe.
Stains - most stain removers will work fine on our waders. As long as the stain remover does not contain bleach you should be o.k.

The GORE-TEX® membrane is the heart of all GORE -TEX® products. The GORE-TEX® membrane contains 9 billion microscopic pores per square inch. These pores are so small that water droplets cannot get through but water vapor can still escape. Water from the outside cannot penetrate and cold winds cannot pass through, but perspiration can escape easily, keeping you dry and comfortable all day. GORE-TEX® fabrics are created by integrating the GORE-TEX® membrane between an outer fabric and lining.

- Great Wader Review by Israel

Overall These waders have performed great so far. I have only used them for a month and a half; but as a fishing guide in Alaska, I have put them through many hard hours of use in a short period of time. They are quite tough, resisting puncture holes and showing great abrasion resistance while guiding(lots of climbing in and out of big boats, and lots of being caught by clients hooks). I have also put many hard miles on them through long hard trips breaking trail through the brush to reach boulder infested rivers on long trout trips. Having waist high waders that can easily convert to chest high, when the water/weather conditions require it is amazing. I have put them to Alaska's extremes, and so far they have held up well. Great Wader(Posted on 7/16/12)
- Really nice on a hot day Review by erparf

Overall I have now fished more than 100 days with these waders. They are great on a warm day as long as one remembers not to wade too deep. The only flaws I find are the plastic suspender clips, which come undone at unexpected moment, the fact that when the waders are converted to hip waders, the zippered front pocket is not accessible. Then again, my old hip waders never had a pocket. And the velcro that holds the waders up against the suspenders in the chest wader position do not grip tightly enough!(Posted on 7/16/12)
- Not the Old Guide Waders Review by MM
-
Overall These aren't made the same as the old guide waders. I enjoyed several hundred days of guiding out of my old guide pants. These new ones are much thinner. In fact, a stick put a hole into them on my first day on the water. Simms did repair the hole, however these waders leak regularly after only 30 uses.
[From Simms]Thanks MM: the G3 Guide Convertible is made of the same thickness GORE-TEX® fabric as the old Guide Wader. The face fabric is softer which may make it feel thinner. Sorry you had issues with the reliability of your wader. Please contact us at repairs@simmsfishing.com to get your repair process started.(Posted on 7/16/12)
