G3 Guide Pant - Sterling

Features

Description

The Snake River near Jackson Hole, Wyoming, offers a pantheon of the most dizzying backdrops in the Lower 48. It’s also a destination, like many across the West, where fishing from the boat is de rigueur and a chest-high wader through summer can be overkill. Whether you’re next adventure calls for bombing banks with gangly drys or ankle-deep wading in skinny water, the G3 Guide™ Pant is the answer. Not to mention you’ll consistently beat your friends to the bar, with a fit that serves double duty both on and off the river… and repels beer and whiskey just as well as water.

Why Simms Waders

Why GORE-TEX®?

Product Care

GORE-TEX® Wader Care:

The #1 tip to prolonging the life of a wader is drying your waders. It is important to dry your waders out after each use. We recommend drying the inside first (if damp) and then the outside. When drying the outside you can pull your gravel guards up until the feet are dry and then flip them down to dry the rest of the wader

Washing - Use a front load machine or hand wash. Use cold water and normal detergent that does not contain bleach. Once you have washed the waders make sure you dry them properly start by drying the inside first. Never put your waders in the dryer, the heat will adversely affect the seam tape on your waders and will void your warranty.

Fit - We offer more sizes than anyone, a good fit goes a long way to extending the life of your wader. Make it clear that people should use their exact measurements as we have already provided extra room for layering and movement.

General Care - Do not store inside your car for long periods of time excess heat will damage your waders.

Use A Mat - Always put your waders on using a protective mat to shield the neoprene feet from rocks. The Headwaters gear bag for example has a pull out mat that works great for this.

Proper Layering - Do not wear jeans under your waders. Jeans are highly abrasive wearing on your waders from the inside out. More importantly jeans and sweatpants do not transfer moisture away from the body. Use proper layering (to view our layering collection, go here). Using layers such as these will help wick moisture away from your body and assist in the waders ability to breathe.

Stains - most stain removers will work fine on our waders. As long as the stain remover does not contain bleach you should be o.k.

Technology

Technologies

  • The GORE-TEX® membrane is the heart of all GORE -TEX® products. The GORE-TEX® membrane contains 9 billion microscopic pores per square inch. These pores are so small that water droplets cannot get through but water vapor can still escape. Water from the outside cannot penetrate and cold winds cannot pass through, but perspiration can escape easily, keeping you dry and comfortable all day. GORE-TEX® fabrics are created by integrating the GORE-TEX® membrane between an outer fabric and lining.

  • Proudly made in the United States of America. Click here to see more of Simms USA-made products.

  • YKK's AQUASEAL® is a light weight waterproof zipper. Combining Vislon® techonology with a seal in between the zipper elements, AQUASEAL® allows easy and smooth operation with 100% protection against the elements.

Best Waders on the market Review by GVFFC Guide Antony
Overall
All the guides in our company wear these waders everyday. We get two seasons minimum out of them and that is 200+ days p.a. in and out of boats and walking big distances.

The G3 pants are comfy, durable and exceptionally well made. Criticisms of they aren't like wearing pants seem ridiculous. They're not pants; they are waders! Even so I don't know how SIMMS could improve in this product.

My only plea to SIMMS is please keep the price at $499. My last pair cost $379 and there have been two price increases since I purchased them. If they go up any more I will be investing in Aquaseal rather than a new pair of waders!

Great wader Review by Jared G
Overall
Great pant, esp in the summer. As one reviewer pointed out, the pockets are useless, but that's what vests and packs are for. Very nice fitting durable pant for small stream wading in the summer. The reviewer also pointed out a bad fit. I feel that these fit great. I like the higher waist line because it gives me 2 more inches in the water. Mine are loose enough to crawl over logs and boulders and such without blowing out the crotch. I highly recommend.

Love my guide pants Review by Ccoles46
Overall
I am on my third season with my g3 guide pants. They are the best I have had. They have kept me dry in Alaska where it rained all week. They are comfortable to live in every day. My only beef is the pockets are a little hard to use. I did get a small rip in the seat while in alaska. Must have been something sharp in a boat or plane. Anyhow, I patched them over night and all is well. I believe in buying American made if I can. Simms has not disappointed me. I chose the guide pants because I rarely fish up to my waist. If you think about it, it's true for most of us.

G3 Pants a Must-have! Review by J. Hubka
Overall
Everyone who fishes small streams needs a pair of these G3 Pant Waders in their wader bag. I have fished them for 3 years and they are perfect for summer fishing in small streams and large shallow rivers. They are very comfortable and allow me to wear a lite vest and stay cool on rivers like the San Juan in July. The pockets are perfect for my license and I always keep one pocket unzipped to put short lengths of used tip material in for disposal when I get home. If you have never tried pant waders you will not regret getting the best!

G3 Guide Pant Rocks Review by Russell
Overall
I bought this product this spring for one of the rainiest and wetest years in 18 years in Montana. As a guide we rely on having the best equipment available. I like the zippers and trust the technology of dry pockets to my best blog camera to share client photos. These waders are comfortable, durable and easy to get into with the zipper fly. Great job on the best piece of equipment I own. " You pay for what you get" and "You get what you pay for". I couldn't recommend a better wader. Russell Missoula Montana

Guide Review by Tim Scott
Overall
I've just finished up my second year using the G3 Guide Pants. With over 180 days of wading, busting through sage brush and scrambling over river boulders there are no leaks or rips. Absolutely the most comfortable waders I've ever used. Can't think of any improvements. Simply rocking waders!

G3 Pants are just ok Review by Malcolm Robertson
Overall
I bought the G3 pants for this season and I have to say I'm not all that impressed. First, they don't wear like pants at all. They have this bulky belt that sits at your stomach and not your waste(I cut this out by the way). Another complaint is they have these two lame pockets where there's enough room for a leader... maybe two. Anything that goes into those pockets is impossible to get out without doing some weird chicken dance. Honestly, they just kind of suck to wear.. Here's my recommendations to improve the pants: make them fit like pants (and if you can't for safety reasons, don't make them), expansive cargo pockets on the outside instead of those two lame pockets on the inside (think cargo pants people). Both of these recommendations would make them a lot better.
