Why Simms Waders?

Product Care

GORE-TEX® Wader Care:

The #1 tip to prolonging the life of a wader is drying your waders. It is important to dry your waders out after each use. We recommend drying the inside first (if damp) and then the outside. When drying the outside you can pull your gravel guards up until the feet are dry and then flip them down to dry the rest of the wader

Washing - Use a front load machine or hand wash. Use cold water and normal detergent that does not contain bleach. Once you have washed the waders make sure you dry them properly start by drying the inside first. Never put your waders in the dryer, the heat will adversely affect the seam tape on your waders and will void your warranty.

Fit - We offer more sizes than anyone, a good fit goes a long way to extending the life of your wader. Make it clear that people should use their exact measurements as we have already provided extra room for layering and movement.

General Care - Do not store inside your car for long periods of time excess heat will damage your waders.

Use A Mat - Always put your waders on using a protective mat to shield the neoprene feet from rocks. The Headwaters gear bag for example has a pull out mat that works great for this.

Proper Layering - Do not wear jeans under your waders. Jeans are highly abrasive wearing on your waders from the inside out. More importantly jeans and sweatpants do not transfer moisture away from the body. Use proper layering (to view our layering collection, go here). Using layers such as these will help wick moisture away from your body and assist in the waders ability to breathe.

Stains - most stain removers will work fine on our waders. As long as the stain remover does not contain bleach you should be o.k.

Excellent fit; easy on and off; would prefer higher location and improved belt Review by Gary
Have had a pair of G3 bootfoot waders for several years and have had good performance. Prefer bootfoots for drift boat fishing. Ankle support not as good as stocking foot waders with boots, but serviceable for most wade fishing I do in Ohio, PA and Michigan.

Recently purchased a pair of G3 stockingfoots with new Korkers boots. Waders provide excellent fit overall, particularly the feet, are easy to put on and take off and are very comfortable. Fit seems to be improved over my older bootfoots. Only issue I have, and it is a minor one, is with the belt. I would prefer to have it a few inches higher to provide more protection from unintended swimming, and some means to keep the belt in the side loops when unbuckled. Seems like I have to re-thread through the side loops whenever I unbuckle the belt.

If I could provide a 4.5 star rating, I would. All of the SIMMS products I have purchased over the past 25 years (waders, fishing jackets, boots) have been top notch. Would highly recommend G3 stockingfoot waders.

well made waders Review by trout man
I bought the waders at the start of the guide season here in AK and they lasted until the last couple of days of the season. The seat had started to wear out (I'm a drift boat guide) and I had finally developed pin holes in the feet. I sent them back to Simms and they repaired them for free (replaced the booties and reinforced the seat). I'm very happy with them considering I fished over a 100days in the them for an average of ten hours a day.

Great... but the flip out tippet pocket Review by CarloRitschl
Took these out for the first time last weekend. The fit and breathability are great, outside pocket is great.

I only have one complaint (and the reason I only gave 4 stars instead of 5). The new flip out tippet pocket is a good idea, but is hard to open one handed. This is because the zipper doesn't run the length of the entire pocket. Since the ends aren't attached the pocket comes up when trying to zip open and makes it difficult to open one handed. The pocket folds over on itself and you have to mess with it a little to get it to open. One handed zipper opening doesn't sound like a big deal, but when you know one hand always has a rod in it, it becomes a nuisance.

I would be interested to know if anyone else has had this frustration or I am just being overly critical.

Best On Market Period Review by Daniel
I live here in Central Pennsylvania. I fish a lot throughout the year for trout. I used a pair of Simms Freestone Waders last season and they were very good as well. They are still going strong. A few weeks ago I visited TCO Fly Shop in State College Pa and purchased the new G3 waders. I have worn these a few times now and love them. The neoprene booties fit the feet very nice. A lot of wader companies leave so much room in the booties which is useless and annoying. The fit is very nice and they feel tough. Good Job Simms for making awesome products and staying ahead of the rest.

These waders are unbeatable! Review by Adam Kujacznski
My first foray into trout fishing came wearing a pair of hip boots on a spring creek at the age of 7. In the 23 years since then i have worn just about every style of wader and more brands than i care to remember. That is until I traded in yet another pair of leaky waders from another brand and bought my first pair of Simms G3 waders 3 years ago.

Since then my G3 waders have been tried and tested around the country. From breaking through ice to fish steelhead on the Pere Marquette to scrambling over barnacles chasing silver salmon in Alaskan estuaries and everywhere in between I can't begin to express how impressed I am with these waders.

Durability - No ifs ands or buts...I am hard on my waders. I have put my G3s through some of the nastiest briars, rocks, bushwacking, saltwater, you name it and they are rock solid waterproof. I haven't found any other wader that is more durable, hands down.

Comfort - My G3s feel like a pair of the most comfortable pants I own. I honestly sometimes even forget that i am wearing waders after a 12 hour day on the river. I don't know how Simms made these waders so comfortable while maintaining their durability.

Customization - I stand 6'5" and weigh a whopping 180lbs with a 35inch inseam and size 13 shoe so finding a pair of waders that fit me properly is near impossible. Luckily Simms provides a custom program and were able to fit size 13 booties to a pair of ML waders to create my perfect wader at a nominal fee.

I know that at some point the abuse will catch up to these waders but whenever that day happens i know EXACTLY the waders I will be buying next. Simms G3

The best money can buy. Review by tankgunner
To tell you the truth I have owned many types of waders in my lifetime. A buddy at the fly shop said hey didn't your waders have a leak in them! I said o you are rite. So I ask for the best they had the sales man said here is the g3 simms. I had them for 2 years now. They are the most comfortable and breathable waders I have ever owned. Best of all there still waterproof.

Simms= Quaility, Great Customer Service. Review by Jesse
Last year, I purchased the Simms Freestone Waders. Although I loved the waders, I ran in to trouble when I got a small pinhole leak in my right leg after I fell and landed on a sharp rock. I called the Simms Repair line and was helped by an employee named Max. Not only was Max extremely knowledgable and informative about the waders, he was also extremely helpful in discussing possible upgrades to more durable waders for the rivers that I encounter in Colorado. I was able to receive credit for my old waders and apply this credit towards and upgrade to the G3 Guide Stockingfoots Waders. My new waders came in the mail today, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!!! I am a shorter guy with stockier legs and the MS size fits me perfectly! I am blown away by the high quality of the waders. They are extremely breathable and feel extremely comfortable when wearing them. I am beyond satisfied as a customer of Simms. I have never felt so valued as a customer. Simms will have me as a customer for the rest of my life, and there is no other company that I will go through when it comes to essential gear such as waders, boots, and other fly-fishing accessories.

Super tough and comfortable for all conditions Review by Shannon
I purchased the G3 waders 10 years ago and at the time they we Simms top of the line wader. I use them about 100 times per year or more and I am hard on them. This past summer (2013) was the first leak I got, It was in the inseam. I filled out the online repair information and sent them to Simms, within 2 weeks I had my 10 year old waders back with a detailed explanation of what they fixed. I thought there was just a small leak in the crotch but the list showed 5 or 6 repairs through out the wader including a neoprene boot foot replacement at NO CHARGE! Thank you Simms. Most waders I've had from other company's in the past last 12 to 24 months, This is an awesome product, I keep looking for an excuse to buy the G4's but these just wont ware out. The customer service is excellent and very friendly there is no reason to buy any other brand.

Best hands down. Review by Douglas
Most comfortable, easy to get in and out of, dry waders on the market. When you're waist deep in cold water, you know exactly where your money went. I use em 3-4 times a week and make sure to hang dry them by the little loop, and they are always perfect.
