Why Simms Waders

Why GORE-TEX®?

Product Care

GORE-TEX® Wader Care:

The #1 tip to prolonging the life of a wader is drying your waders. It is important to dry your waders out after each use. We recommend drying the inside first (if damp) and then the outside. When drying the outside you can pull your gravel guards up until the feet are dry and then flip them down to dry the rest of the wader

Washing - Use a front load machine or hand wash. Use cold water and normal detergent that does not contain bleach. Once you have washed the waders make sure you dry them properly start by drying the inside first. Never put your waders in the dryer, the heat will adversely affect the seam tape on your waders and will void your warranty.

Fit - We offer more sizes than anyone, a good fit goes a long way to extending the life of your wader. Make it clear that people should use their exact measurements as we have already provided extra room for layering and movement.

General Care - Do not store inside your car for long periods of time excess heat will damage your waders.

Use A Mat - Always put your waders on using a protective mat to shield the neoprene feet from rocks. The Headwaters gear bag for example has a pull out mat that works great for this.

Proper Layering - Do not wear jeans under your waders. Jeans are highly abrasive wearing on your waders from the inside out. More importantly jeans and sweatpants do not transfer moisture away from the body. Use proper layering (to view our layering collection, go here). Using layers such as these will help wick moisture away from your body and assist in the waders ability to breathe.

Stains - most stain removers will work fine on our waders. As long as the stain remover does not contain bleach you should be o.k.

  • The GORE-TEX® membrane is the heart of all GORE -TEX® products. The GORE-TEX® membrane contains 9 billion microscopic pores per square inch. These pores are so small that water droplets cannot get through but water vapor can still escape. Water from the outside cannot penetrate and cold winds cannot pass through, but perspiration can escape easily, keeping you dry and comfortable all day. GORE-TEX® fabrics are created by integrating the GORE-TEX® membrane between an outer fabric and lining.

Nice comfortable wader but leaked in the second trip Review by TD
Overall
I have been using hip waders for many years and I decided to go to chest wader this year. I purchased G3. Below the knee level, it has been good (so far.) However, the above knee line, both knee area have holes and my pants get wet spots and right side belt area also has leak and my shirt gets wet. I am not going to fix it - this is defect product on the company end.

Incredible Waders Review by Ultrahawg
Overall
I purchased these waders after a few years away from flyfishing. I have used them 3 times so far and they are far better than the neoprene Hodgman waders I owned previously. I paired these with the Rivertek Boa boots and could not be happier. I did a lot of bushwhacking and hiking and felt extremely comfortable and not overly hot even in warm weather. I fell down a rocky bank on my backside and these were littel worse for wear. After a full 10 hour day on the stream my feet were bone dry. Highly recommended. In my opinion there isn't a better pair of waders than the Simms G3 Guides.

Worth the extra money! Review by Andrew Malek
Overall
For starters, this is my first pair of Simms waders that i have ever bought and im sure glad that I did! I was going to get the Headwaters pair but then i decided to try these bad boys and and i never took them off after! everything from the 5 layer bottoms, belt loops, hand warmer, the flip out storage. If you are trying to decide on what ones to buy, just go try these babies on and you will make up your mind quick!

Bombproof & Breathable Review by Brett
Overall
Let me start by saying that I am Gore Mountain Tech member who serves as an ambassidor for W.L. Gore and its products. I may be partial to Gore products, but I tend to think its do to the education I possess about why Gore textiles are superior. Just like the title of my review indicates and one of Gore's primary characteristics these pro shell waders are breathable. I fish primairly tailwater rivers in the south (especially Georgia) and can work up quite a sweat hiking from hole to hole. Before my G3s I would take off my "breathable" waders and find that the insides were just as wet inside from my perspiration. Certainly not the case with the Pro Shell. The five layer knee/butt to ankle regions are perfect for casting while sitting or kneeling while also alleviating some concern about ripping. They are relatively lightweight when compared to other waders and the cut makes it feel like I'm wearing my favorite jeans as opposed to parachute pants.

G3 Review by Thomas Brown
Overall
I purchased my G3 Guide stockingfoot waders back in 2006. It's now 2012, and they are still holding up suprising well despite the years of abuse I put them through. Absolutely solid construction and great all-day comfort. I plan to purchase the same waders this year.

Durable Review by TroutDirt
Overall
I am on the water at least 75+ days a year and my G3 waders are going on their 3rd season without any problems. Comfort and durability are the two attributes that make them by far the best pair of waders I have ever owned. I have been a Simms customer for many, many years and will continue because of great products like the G3 waders.
