Fishing environments can throw plenty of obstacles at your feet. And Simms recognizes that a performance shoe, just like your boots, must keep pace with these blistering underfoot demands. The Riprap has a casual look and feel, but it’s ready to dodge, weave, and punch back thanks to wading boot technology.

Best wet wading shoes I've had on. Here in Arizona, we are able to enjoy the nice cool water during the hot summer months. The Simms Rip Rap shoe provides excellent stability and comfort. The Stream Tread soles grip the ground as you jump from rock to rock and prevent gravel from entering. Excellent shoe period.

I love this wading shoe. Have been using sandals forever and always have rocks under my toes. These shoes will be your favorite. I also use these on my drif boat where they really shine. Always moving around and getting in/out of the boat on mossy rocks is much better than slippery sandals.

This shoe isn't bad and has some real benefits over previous shoe options. If you used the Keen wading sandals in the past then you will probably be pretty disappointed in these shoes but for most places this shoe will dominate. Don't use in sandy environments (think beaches or rivers with fine sand) as it will literally eat your feet. Also be careful putting in the studs as they are just long enough that you can feel the screws through the footbed and that makes them pretty uncomfortable.
In terms of traction there are few things out there (including felt) that will grab like this shoe will. Very comfortable and pretty versatile shoe for 90% of environments.

Been searching for a wet wading shoe that keeps the gravel/sand out, has great traction, dries quickly and is durable. This is the shoe for me. After 3 months of everday use in the river, office, and on the trail I am still wearing them (even as I write this). About the only way they could be better is if they had removable insoles. I will be getting another pair if/when I wear these out. wish I could send a picture of them because they still look pretty new. Again...best aquatic/terrestrial hybrid shoe I have found in 20 years. Summer is the time when I love to hike up my favorite creeks fishing for hungry trout on dry flies. I feel like I have tried all of the wading shoes through the years and was excited to see the new Rip Rap shoe from Simms. As a guide and fisheries biologist, I am always looking for a wading shoe that is comfortable all day, has good grip on slippery rocks, and keeps rocks out. I used the Rip Rap hard this summer on my favorite Wyoming streams and rivers, including a three day float down the S. Fork in Idaho, and these shoes were comfortable. The new stream tread grip performed as well as stream grip does and kept the rocks at bay. On the rare occasion when a rock did find its way inside, the shoes loosened up easily with the simple sliding release lock, came off, and went back on with little to no effort. The shoes even held up to repeated four to five mile hikes up steep trails to fish remote streams in Grand Teton National Park for a study on Snake River cutthroat trout. They were comfy all the way up and back down. The cord lacing system is a bit long and once tight had to be tucked into the shoe laces to prevent it from snagging on branches wading in and out of creeks, On small to medium marble sized rocks I felt every rock through the sole of the shoe. Despite, I loved these shoes and would recommend them to anyone looking for a comfortable shoe to wet wade any creek or river. The vibram sole made the shoes comfortable on the trail and in the water. I paired them with the Simms wading sock and never had a blister or any discomfort of any kind. Way to go Simms!
