Great boots, pity about the Vibram

The latest Freestone is a significantly better boot than the old one, which I have fished for the past 5 years. However the Vibram sole does not live up to its reputation - not even close. In fact, for the sort of intense wading / nymphing we do in SA, they are downright dangerous. They have very limited grip on wet rocks, and I spent considerably more time falling and sliding than I have ever done on my old felt soled Freestones. The boots, though, are a lot softer and make a lot less noise on the riverbed than their predecessors. A significantly more comfortable fit, at least for my feet. I think the felt soled Freestones will be great when they are released. Avoid these if you intend wading in anything other than the slowest shallowest water.
