Orginally I was going to go with the G4z waders, but I wanted to make sure I liked zippered waders before I made such a high end purchase. So I went with the freestones. I was very impressed by the quality of the waders right out of the box. While they are not Gore-Tex, the toray fabric is suprising breathable, and definitely rivals other brands in a similiar price tag.
I tested them out yesterday and the air temp was high 70s to low 80s while the water temp was in the 70s. You think I'd be sweating like crazy, not at all! I was perfectly comfortable! I had some rock encounters as well and the waders held up great. I am wading along in 3ft of water and all the sudden I hit a 5ft hole thats is a muck bottom (luckily, Im 6'5) and the zipper worked flawlessy. I then waded some deeper water for a few hours with water half way up to the zipper and stayed bone dry as well.
There is no reason to stray away from toray or the freestone waders. They are excellent performers. I think these are going to last a very long time.
