Stream fishing in Arizona requires quite a bit of hiking into remote areas. Using my Simms G3 Guide waders this past year has allowed me to walk through hazardous terrain with confidence. I have encountered everything from the thickest blackberry briars to rusty barbed wire and have yet to tear or punture them. With 230 trips so far, I have yet to encounter a leak. Absolutely an awesome product!

As far as comfort, style and overall functionality go these waders are far above every other competitor. Unfortunately this will be the second pair in a row that I have had to return for repair due to leaks in the crotch and upper leg area.
I have worn this pair less than 20 times. bottom line is, if these would hold up there is no competition, period. I will let you know how repair and service goes.

Must give credit where credit is due.I sure didn't think you would post my review.I did see your repair video before I took them back to where I had bought them and was not wanting to spend the $50 they wantedto charge me for a 10 dollar repair I could do my self.I felt the store where I purchased them from would of supplied better customer service as I have spent lots of dollars with them.As for them they have lost a big spending customer to save a few bucks. Was it worth it in the long run for them?

I normally never take the time to write reviews. However after my experience with the repair department I thought I would. I had a 2005 model of simms waders that I simply abused. Not saying I didn't take care of them but I definitely thought I got my money out of them. Eventually they sprung a few leaks and I sent them in. The repair department found them unrepairable. Instead of delivering the bad news they offered to send me a new comparable model or give me store credit. I took the store credit and upgraded to another pair paying the difference. You don't find too many companies taking care of their customers anymore. I will never buy any other brand.

G3 wader

The G3 is advertised as a "tough" wader. I've had mine for just over a month and the seat already has holes. I guess that's what I get for sitting on the bank to rig up. I am hard on gear, but it would be nice to find a wader that can actually stand up to be worn outside of a boat and last multiple seasons. Pretty expensive piece of gear for the duration of use.

When I first bought these waders I was a little reluctant because of the price. They were good at first but after a few years and lite uses (six to ten wears a year as I have neoprene waders for cold weather fishing) they developed leaks. As there was no damage visable to the naked eye I assumed the seams were leaking.I took them back to where I purchased them and they showed me all kinds of pin holes in them caused by "thorn bushes" and said this was not warranty. For the same money I could bought 4 tires for the car with free flat repairs.Should rename them sivvs because they leak like one!
[From Simms]Thanks Crewman: pinholes can occur in GORE-TEX® fabric. You can repair these yourself (see the video here on how to do that) or you can send them to Simms for repair. Please visit our repair site or email us at repairs@simmsfishing.com to get your repair process started.

Simply the best waders I have ever owed, period. After years of being unsatisfied with other waders I made the switch to Simms. These waders are tough and super comfortable! I added the custom relief zip for those cold NW steelheading days. Taking a "break" without taking off your wading jacket and unbuckling your shoulder straps- priceless.

I just bought my Simms G3 guide waders and couldnt be happier. I purchased the Simms freestone wading boot about a month or so back and really love those too. This is my first pair of Simms waders and i couldnt be more satisfied. Fishing the Salmon River in Ny has its own set of obstacles, climbing through brush and changing beds in the river. These waders are amazing.

I have owned (and worn out) all the major brands of waders over the last 35 years and I thought that the G3s would be just another normal high-end wader. I was wrong! I have used these waders for 2 seasons in all kinds of weather, river and still water conditions and have never experienced such comfort in a rugged wader. The Simms designers have created a pair of waders that are so comfortable that I forget I have them on! My fly fishing buddies ask me, "Hey Hubs, did ya get new waders?" almost every time I put them on because they still look new. Thanks Simms!

I abuse the heck out of these waders fishing by kayak and surf in the salt hardcore. Fishing around barnacle encrusted boulders for stripers in the deep of the night is my passion and I would choose the G3 over and over again. Other waders never held up very long in this harsh environment. Comfort and breath-ability is an added bonus when you walk 2 miles back to the car on the hot summer nights.

I put my equipment through the ringer, so it's important I have waders that can stand up to the abuse I put them through. Hiking in to spots off the beaten path can take a toll on your waders, but the G3's are by far the toughest waders I've owned. Why spend the money to replace cheap waders that leak after one season of hard fishing when you can get a set that will hold up for longer than you will. Definitely worth every penny. Plus their comfortable!

Why not buy?

There's only one problem with buying a pair of Simms Guide waders. They last so long and stand up to all your abuse, that you miss out on 10 plus years of new waders being released while you stand by not being able to rightly justify buying new ones. I've owned a pair of the older traditional Guide waders for about 6 years now and would very much like a new set. But why not? I cannot justify it. After all the trout slime, trips and falls, tree branches, flies, beer and gink without a single leak, how could I let them go? I suppose when the time is right to hang them up for good..and I have no idea when that will be. If you want to invest in a wader you won't have to worry about, at a worthwhile price point, this is the one.. But it'll take commitment. Are you up for it?

I've had these waders for 3 years now and can say un-equivocally they are the best waders I've ever fished in!
I spend on average 100+days a summer in my waders and they are durable, comfortable, and last!
Well worth the investment and will provide countless hours of dry comfortable fishing pleasure!

Just wanted everyone to know that I have used the g3 wader for some years now and have found it the absolute best for fit and toughness. I spend alot of dayds every year in my waders and will be the first one to admit that I am not easy on them. I just can't believe the amount of wear that I get out of a pair before I finally have to trade them in. Mike

In over 20 years of fly fishing I have tried virtually all the major breathable wader brands. None of them met my expectations of durability and build quality until I purchased a pair of Simms G3 guide waders 4 years ago. As an avid fly fisher, fly casting instructor and guide I spend many, many days per year on the water and after 4 years of continuos hard use the only issue I have had with these waders was a belt loop coming loose. They are still as comfortable and leak proof as the day I got them. Very highly recommended!

Pros-I have used Simms Guide waders since they first came out and have logged as many as 500 days (combined guiding & fishing) on a pair before retiring them. Durability is overall excellent (with exception of the water-repellant coating).
Cons-My beefy calves will not fit into the the waders lower legs completely...too tight from the knee to the ankle. I originally bought the XLS size, returned them for tight calves then reordered in 3XLS trying to get them roomy enough to be comfortable but the calves were still too tight while the upper was over-size. I cut off the integral gravel cuffs (I don't like them anyways) which increased the calf room slightly but not enough. Extended sizes need to be large all the way down!

I fish in Matagorda, TX on the middle Texas coast. My favorite fish to catch are Trophy Speckled Trout, which requires walking in soft mud and oyster shells. This can be instant trouble for most light weight waders, however I am on my 3rd year wearing the lightweight waders and no leaks. I fish in these waders at least 40 times a year and the only issue I had was the zipper on the outside pocket corroding from being in saltwater. Which probably could have been avoided if I rinsed them after being in saltwater. Simms was good enough to replace them. I have gotten more than my moneys worth and have convinced a few friends along the way to buy Simms and they are all more satisfied than with any other wader thay have ever worn.

I usually go through waders every season. I have owned these for 3 years now, and still they are holding up. They are not too heavy for spring and fall and more than enough for Montana Winters. I backpacked through patagonia with these and they held up just fine and fit nicely in my pack. Very good product.
