I am entering my third season with the G-4's They are comfortable and durable. I like a more substantial boot as I tend to shuffle a lot in the faster water and these fit that bill. I did try the first season without cleats and that was an adventure. Added the cleats and really felt more in control.
I miss felt, but this is as close as we can get without risking the dreaded spread.
I will buy these again.

Do you go through wading boots like they are made of paper? I do and it seemed I was always buying new boots every few months. I can't kill these G4 boots. They are built tough and I get at least three times more life out of a G4 than other lesser brands I used to fish in.
These are big and chunky so they are warm and super roomy. Offer great protection from rocks and bumps.
Worth the money and some for sure. Only the wealthy can afford to buy cheap wading boots. Do yourself a favor and try the G4!

I really like these boots. They are quite heavy (weight) and heavy-duty; I feel the heaviness helps keep one's feet planted in fast water. Using studs with these boots is mandatory, for best traction. A couple of points to be aware of, the metal eyelets can be very hard on factory gravel guards and boot laces. I use another set of gravel guards underneath my Simms' "built-ins" to prevent holes in the factory gravel guards. I always take another pair of laces along. The toughness of the metal eyelets is worth the trouble. The lower section stitching has come loose in a few places (black toe box area), but does not affect usability. I wear these boots about 3 times a week and I often walk miles in rough, rocky conditions. These boots do a good job withstnding hard use. I have owned these boots since May 2011. Thanks.

The G4 Guide Boot with the HardBite™ Star Cleats are the best and safest wading boot for the Miramichi Rivers. The bottom of the river is very slippery and we have to wade and cross the river often in heavy current. Durable, excellent traction and highly recommended for anglers who fish often in heavy water!

I bought these boots after having just about worn my last pair to pieces. I tend to hike a lot along the riverbank and in the shallows themselves. This boot performed great, the studs and vibram sole work together very well, even on the slippery Didymo covered rocks of the SoHo and several other east coast waters. The laces so far have held up well which was m #1 gripe about my last pair of boots, good cushioning, arch support and ankle support. Over all these boots lose a star for one reason, no wide sizes. I normally wear a 10.5 EEEE running shoe, and these boots squeeze my toebox so badly that I limit myself to 3 hours of fishing before getting out and letting my feet stretch out a bit.

These boots provide great protection for my feet. A lot of my wading is done in fast, deep water with lots of rocks. My boots take a beating because I use my feet to feel my way around the rocks I can't see. I like the little flare to the sole that offers a little protection to the uppers. The boots are comfortable and warm. The laces will be the first thing to wear out.

I work a good portion of the year in waders and wading boots. I have owned at least 8 different boots from several manufactures. These boots are hands down the best I have ever owned. There are days they are on my feet for more than 12 hours and they have not let me down. Purchase the cleats if you will be using these in slippery locations.

I bought these boots for this season (2011) and they are great. They've held up very well so far and are very comfortable to wear. About the only complaint I can think of is that they are heavy (but very durable!). They're spendy but seem to hold up, so the extra $ seems worth it.
