The Hood Challenge

I purchased these waders from The Gorge Fly shop, and I fish The Hood religiously and with all the blackberries along with miles and miles of hiking up and down the valley, I have pretty much destroyed these things on every level and they have lasted almost 5 years...
I have had 3 pairs of booties replaced along with about 100 or so holes repaired, Simms tells me "they're not body armour" but that's exactly what these are! I would go to war in these..

Very comfortable. Spend a week in them in Labador. The fit is amazing which keeps the waders comfortable when you are in them all day only. Worth the money. Simms has the best waders in the market.

Best thing since sliced bread!

As a wade guide who easily logs 100 days over the river and through the woods. I think my G4 Pro waders are the best thing since sliced bread. Until I found these waders I would seriously go through 2 pairs of waders in a miserable, leaky, cold, and clammy 6 month period. But not anymore!
Simms strategically designed the leg seams of the G4 Pro in front of the thighs rather than the inner thigh and crotch area like other brands waders. This was always a spot where my old waders were guaranteed to leak due to the constant abrasion of the seams from the leg material rubbing together. Simms further eliminates this problem by offering such an extensive array of sizes for a perfect fit. Thanks so much Simms for keeping me warm, dry, and comfy and not becoming a grouchy old guide!

Worth the money

I'm generally a "best bang for the buck" kind of guy. While I think it is foolish to buy cheap gear I also thought it was a waste to spend more than $250 on a pair of waders. But after wearing out some "top of the line" moderately priced waders (one pair lasted less than five months) I have come to feel that the price of my G4 waders is some of the best money I have ever spent. Before the G4 Pro I owned a pair of the G3 and while the G3s were good I will continue to buy the G4 in the future. I generally walk about 1 1/2 miles round trip to get to my favorite water and the crotch area on the G3 developed "seepage" after about a year. The extra layers on the G4 extend up past the crotch and after 7 months of fairly hard use I can not see any wear in the crotch area.

One season in these waders and I'm wondering what I did before I got them. Fit has always been a problem for me short and square is general not an size option. But the medium short waders with a custom stocking foot has solved all those problems. As well the durability is incredible. Usually my waders have developed a leak somewhere by this time of the year, near a hundred days of use and I'm still warm and dry. Thanks Simms.

Outstanding waders. I guide in the southeast mostly and go through enough briers getting to the river to think I was hunting woodcock. These waders have held up to everything before the water and in the water. The best waders out there.

These are the best waders I have worn hands down. 1 season of 120 days on the water so far and still like the day I bought them. More features than you can want in a wader and second to none durability. I think I see a set of G4Z's in my future.

Simply the best waders that I have ever owned! Our guides have put these waders to the test year-round. They have been tossed in the back of the truck, keep you warm on the coldest of days, and they keep water tight! Can't ask for more.
Love the hand pockets, belt, and waterproof chest pouch.

These are the best waders I've owned. Extremely warm and capable of dealing with rough elements. The additional features on Simms waders are also a bonus (i.e. tippet pockets, hand warmer chest pocket, etc.) Bottom line: these waders can take a beating.

First time on with a new pair of G4s having had 5 years (and some more I hope!) from my old G3s which take heavy use and abuse from Feb to November in a good 50 day plus salmon season.Blown away by the comfort fit of G4s and how well they wicked condensation on a horrible day that alternated warm and wet to freezing mizzling rain that never let up all day.Even accounting for the price (which is high due to the sterling/dollar rate) and temptations of cheaper looking alternatives, there is simply no comparison as to how much better these are than any other brand of wader available in the UK today. If you are reading this and doubting the extra money is worth it then don't-they are brilliant!
Well done Simms!!!

I have used Simms waders since the neoprene days. Whenever a new design or material came out I would upgrade to the new model. These waders are the best I have ever used. The fit is perfect. The durability has been outstanding. For the blissful fall days when you are traveling light these waders rock. There is room in the chest pockets for a few boxes, gloves, camera and snacks. Use the tool attachments and spool tender pocket and you're ready. The best wader you can use hands down.

Last week I worked in these waders for over 60 hours. The durability of these waders is outstanding and the comfort provided is fantastic. The feet are well designed and the legs are sewn in a way that allows you to wear them all day with the same comfort as a pair of pants. Hands down, the best waders I have ever worn.

I have gone through two pair of G3's and an earlier model of G4's and I find the improvements made to the G4 Pros well worth the extra cost. The protection against penetration by briars is excellent
and they wear quite well overall.

You get what you pay for and after 4 years of guide use, they are still keeping me dry.
The zippered hand warmer pockets with quick-drying micro fleece lining should have water proof zippers. As an aggressive fisherman I always find myself pushing the depth of the water and stuff in the pockets will get wet. If your tuff on waders you want the extra material the G4 Pro provides. My G4's have encountered beaver nails, barbed wire and Russian olive thorns and have come out on top every time.

You are not going to find a better pair of waders. Hands Down. I've done all sorts of things one should probably not do in these waders (collecting firewood, starting fires, building docks, sliding down rocky banks on my bum, etc.) These hold up to all my child-like shenanigans, like it's their job... And I guess it is, but they do it well. Thanks, Simms, I couldn't ask for better.

I wear the G4's down on the Texas Coast when the weather turns cooler. I have had a lot of other brands, none compare when it comes to comfort and durability like the Simms. The layout of the pockets makes it easy to grab something you need without having to carry an additional vest with you. After wearing these for the last few years just a good rinse and there ready for another round. Great product from a great company ! Keep up the good work Simms.

The best waders I've ever used, period. For years I have been using the "other" top brand and other guides told me to switch to Simms. they were so right.
These waders fit like an old pair of jeans but are completely waterproof. I used them for a full season guiding in Patagonia and they are as water tight as the first day on the water plus they are super comfortable. From my other guides i learned these are super easy to repair, which is aplus when you are on the water every day for months.

With so many really good waders crowding the market you would think it would be hard to find a standout. I have several brands and seem to keep finding myself in the G4. They don't keep me any drier than competitive brands but they are hands down the most comfortable. They fit like they were custom cut and the knees actually bend where they are supposed to.
I'd prefer that the 5 panel Gore-Tex didn't rise through the crotch. It doesn't flex well and the stiff fabric does become uncomfortable and chafe after a few miles of hiking, especially in hot weather. I can't recommend them for float tubing because the stiff crotch creates an almost instant wedgy. These can get quite warm and I generally wear them only in cool to cold weather. For that they rule.

As a shop owner & guide in northentral PA, I wear my G4 waders year round in all conditions. I don't prefer to wet wade so I wear these waders even in the heat of the summer. After spending all day in the G4's I don't feel like I have had anything but a comfortable pair of pants on. I am going on my third season with these waders & at the rate that they are holding up I hope to get at least a couple of more years out of them. They say that you get what you pay for & this has been one very good investment. I would recommend the G4's to anyone
