Simms has reintroduced felt to a selection of its wading boot line-up, including the Guide Boot. Felt has solid grip, it’s lightweight, and offers advantages in certain wading environments. Please follow clean angling practices, limit felt soles to single watersheds, and help keep these vital resources healthy.

Awesome boot, wore one pair out and am on second pair. Also have G4 Guide Stream Tread. This is a better boot, felt sticks to rocks like no other. I fish 100+ days a year and hike a lot. These boots will last several seasons. If you need felt replaced, have Simms do it. Boot shops probably won't do it to your satisfaction and Simms quality standards. Speaking of Simms, they have the best customer service in the industry. I have had the pleasure / opportunity of having them repair self inflicted wound on gear. They are very reasonable and stand behind their gear. If you break it out of warranty, they will help you fix it at minimum cost to you and no profit to them. I will never wear anything but Simms due to product quality, product service and product comfort / durability.

These are nothing new. I've had the predecessor to these boots in felt (without the orange stripe) for three years now. I have not been even remotely gentle on these boots. They've been hiked hard, fished harder, and worked over in all four seasons. They offer great support, far superior traction to any Vibram sole, are extremely durable, and amazingly comfortable. My only complaint is that after three years of kicking rocks, I've worn the first 3-4 inches of felt off the toe of the boot and reduced the thickness of the felt overall by at least 50%. I'll make due this winter, but I plan getting another pair after the rivers calm down in the spring.

Problems with Simm's shoes

Bought a pair in February 2010, and they lasted until beginning septembre 2010, only ! The rubber straps on each side, going from the heel to the ankle, broke on each pair...! The result ? within two days, the heel, openned and let sand and pebbles get in between, and the sole broke.
A few years before, I had problems with another guide model, that was changed by the shop, and the second pair got the same problem. My wife had a similar problem with her shoes ; Seems that the chineese are poor craftmen.....but Simm's should check the products. That's why I don't buy Simm's shoes anymore.
