The Foundation's Seal of Recommendation is granted to sun protection products that have been reviewed by and meet the stringent criteria of an independent Photobiology Committee. One of the first programs offered by the Foundation, it quickly gained acceptance from consumers for setting the standard for effective sun protection with sunscreen products, sunglasses, specially treated auto and residential window film, umbrellas, clothing and laundry products that wash UV protection into clothing. To earn the Seal of Recommendation, a manufacturer must provide scientific data showing that its product sufficiently and safely “aids in the prevention of sun-induced damage to the skin.” The data are reviewed by a volunteer committee of photobiologists – experts in the study of the interaction between ultraviolet radiation and the skin. At Simms, sun protection is a critical component of our sportswear offering. Through a combination of fabric construction, design and finish, we offer a wide range of clothing that features a minimum UPF of 30 (very good) up to UPF of 50 (excellent). UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much of the sun's UV radiation is absorbed. A fabric with a rating of 50 will allow only 1/50th of the sun's UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric will reduce your skin's UV radiation exposure significantly. All of our UPF finishes last the life of the garment, an industry standard of 30 washings.

- Best Hands Down Review by Scotty
-
Overall This goes with me every time I'm on the water. Design is like any other out there with the holes in the perfect position, thus preventing glasses from fogging. Super thin material makes it easy to breathe, and allows for air flow. It is warm enough when it's cool, and cool enough when temperatures are 90+! If you don't have this, you're missing out!(Posted on 12/13/12)
- almost perfect Review by Ron Romeis
-
Overall these are almost perfect. Very comfortable, the breathing holes really help keep your glasses from fogging up as advertised. Only problem, the way the holes are punched through fabric weakens the fabric and the holes tear easily with normal use. The holes need to be reinforced some how. When the holes tear... your entire nose will be exposed to the sun... or any area that is effected by where the holes have enlarged. Defeats the purpose of having the sun protection. Fix this issue and I will give these 5+stars.(Posted on 11/20/12)

- Versatile! Review by Ian - Elora, Canada

Overall Not only does this stop me frying my ears and neck in the clear air of salmon country, it's also a nice cozy at the frosty start to a day of September fishing. And it keeps the black flies at bay too!(Posted on 7/16/12)

Overall This item worked great.what I liked was the versatility! On cool summer mornings while waiting for the fish to rise it provided just enough warmth to my neck ! Later when it began to heat up it kept me very cool because the sun was not baking my face+neck !Keep up the great work !(Posted on 7/16/12)
- SunGaiter Review Review by Kingfisher - Kingfield, Me. U.S.
-
Overall The SunGaiter has seen almost daily use (I have two) since purchasing them this summer. The fit is very good and stays in place easily without fuss. The mouth vent holes help eliminate your glasses fogging up when the gaiter is used in full face mode. This is a very useful feature on hot/bright days. Drying time for the fabric is fast. The weight of the fabric helps keep your face warm on those early morning upriver runs. Compresses easily into any gear/boat bag, wader pocket or vest, making it a go to piece on any trip.(Posted on 7/16/12)
