- Product Care
GORE-TEX® Outerwear Care:
Cleaning your GORE-TEX® garments regularly will extend the life of the product. It will also keep them breathable as dirt and oil can clog the GORE-TEX® membrane over time.
It is critical to wash jackets. Natural oils can damage the GORE-TEX® tape and adhesives causing a peeling effect.
Machine wash warm. Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
Remember to zip all pockets and close all Velcro cuffs before washing to prevent any damage caused by the machine.
Tumble dry on warm setting making sure not to use a high heat setting. Drying on warm will actually reactivate the DWR coating.
GORE-TEX® Performance Shell outerwear is waterproof, lightweight, durable and breathable. It’s designed to provide excellent, long-lasting performance in a wide range of conditions.
Little Parts from the YKK® Fastening Products Group create The Big Difference for our customers — fastening solutions intelligently integrated with the finished product to provide the highest quality, most durable gear. Simms utilizes fasteners built to withstand the harshest environments and YKK® provides the best solutions to meet those needs. All Simms outerwear features nylon YKK® zippers to minimize corrosion and provide high performing, durable wear. www.ykkamerica.com.
Primaloft® Gold insulation maintains 90% of its warmth when wet and provides the highest warmth to weight ratio of any synthetic insulation available.
At Simms, sun protection is a critical component of our sportswear offering. Through a combination of fabric construction, design and finish, we offer a wide range of clothing that features a minimum UPF of 30 (very good) up to UPF of 50 (excellent). UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much of the sun's UV radiation is absorbed. A fabric with a rating of 50 will allow only 1/50th of the sun's UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric will reduce your skin's UV radiation exposure significantly. All of our UPF finishes last the life of the garment, an industry standard of 30 washings.
- Fabulous Jacket Review by Jonathan
OverallI bought this having decided to go cold weather/warm weather jackets as opposed to a G4 and hoped it did everything. Purchase one was my Bulkely. I gave it a weeks testing on the Naver in a screaming high wind and with some cold mornings and evenings where I fished into darkness. It coped brilliantly and on days of 5-6 degrees a good base layer and a thick shirt are all you need as the Gore-tex stops the wind cutting you to ribbons and the Primaloft keeps you nice and warm. Pockets are great, the hood ideal and the XXL does a 6.3 19 stone guy with a 50" chest dead easy as you don't need many other clothes on under it.The Primaloft lining creates fabulous heat in the hand warmers which really does warm your hands. One slight niggle is no waterproof inside pocket for car keys (assuming your phone is in a Simms comms pack). They need to go in your waders which in the days of immobilisers is not ideal if they get a good wetting. That still doesn't detract from 5 stars as there is now no reason ever to be cold while out spring or autumn fishing despite the fact my mother says I look like a gangsta rapper in it when paired with jeans. If the Ackiins for summer wear is half as good I will have made the right choice.

We have a saying in the Smoky Mountains; If you dont like the weather, just wait fifteen minutes. With the Simms Bulkley Jacket, who cares what the weather is going to do. All day comfort, cuts wind rain, and wet snow completely, keeps you warm in just about anything without over heating you, great mobility perfect for rowing boats or hiking to backcountry locations. - The essential cold weather jacket Review by Zephead
OverallBought this ten days ago and fished with it for the first time on the Dee (Scotland) and was seriously impressed. It is a no frills jacket but does what it sets out to do - keeps you exceptionally warm and comfortable so you can concentrate on catching fish, No need for loads of layering up and that keeps your casting swing and movement easy. If I have one wish it would be an inside pocket for keys etc but as they can go in your wader pocket I'd still give this 5/5. Top marks Simms!

- Must Have For Minnesota Steelhead Review by NorthShore KP
OverallI received this jacket in early fall and I fished with it the last month and a half of our fall run. It rained, sleeted, and snowed and I stayed dry and warm thanks to this jacket. The PERMALOFT and GORTEX are a great pairing to keep the warmth in as well as allowing for easy arm movements with both single and double hand casting. The hand warmer pockets are a great addition which allowed for a quick warm up before going back in the water. This jacket is a must have for Minnesota fishing along Lake Superior.

- Awesome jacket Review by Phil
OverallBest fishing jacket I've ever owned going back 55 years of passionate steelheading, including 11 years as a guide.....
Warm , comfortable and doesn't interfere with casting a fly rod......
It breathes so you don't get too hot on long hikes, yet it keeps you
toasty while wading deep. Two thumbs up!

- STEELERHEADERS DREAM COAT Review by Hugh
OverallUsed my Bulkley this early winter when temps were mid 20's to 40 with wind, sleet and snow. One of the best purchased I've made from Simms. It's a must have if you fish in the cold and cuts down on multiple layering. Super soft, exceptionably comfortable, lightweight and most definitely water and wind proof. Good fit in the shoulders and arms for layering. Interior is super slick so no binding. Insulated hood is a real plus to keep the heat in and wind out. Some mention the fit of the hood and I understand what they say, but to me the fit is far better than my G4 jacket if you wearing a tassel cap. It keeps the cap from riding up on your hear and the bill of the hood doesn't fall down over your eyes. If it 40 degrees or more, leave it in the car as it's too warm. Hand warmer pockets are nice and big. Would be nice if there was an interior pocket.

- Great Jacket Both on and Off the Water! Review by Bugs
OverallThis jacket really lives up to all the claims. I've worn my Bulkey in the snow, rain and cold that Upper Michigan can throw at you - what a jackete! The warmth that Primloft offers is excellent and the Gore-Tex holds-up in heavy rain. I've had no issues with the hood that others have reported. I've worn a cap with the hood cinched down a bit and that seems to take care of keeping the rain off my glasses. Nicely done Simms - another great product!

- Ready for anything Review by LaramieAngler
OverallI wear this jacket during the colder months in SE Wyoming and it performs very well. The Primaloft insulation is as good as you can get short of actual down feathers, and it is perfectly distributed around the jacket in the right zones. Having the Gore-Tex shell paired with this insulation is what really puts this piece above similar pieces from other companies. The pockets are very generous for fly boxes and gear and the hand warmer pockets are placed higher up to keep them out of the water and out of the way from getting snagged on gear. I also wear this jacket occasionally while skiing and around town, and I love the comfort and ease of movement it affords. I'd say the cut and fit of this piece is a bit on the generous side, but that is helpful when wearing it over waders and with additional layers on underneath when needed. The only (slight) drawback to the piece, as mentioned in other reviews, is that the hood is a tad shallow and lacks the 3-point adjustments that other pieces have. It would be nice (especially when the wind come s up) to be able to cinch the hood down to the face on each side of the hood, not just using the rear adjustment. All in all the piece is bomber and very durable. It keeps you DRY and WARM, and that is what it is supposed to do!
