- Product Care
GORE-TEX® Outerwear Care:
Cleaning your GORE-TEX® garments regularly will extend the life of the product. It will also keep them breathable as dirt and oil can clog the GORE-TEX® membrane over time.
It is critical to wash jackets. Natural oils can damage the GORE-TEX® tape and adhesives causing a peeling effect.
Machine wash warm. Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
Remember to zip all pockets and close all Velcro cuffs before washing to prevent any damage caused by the machine.
Tumble dry on warm setting making sure not to use a high heat setting. Drying on warm will actually reactivate the DWR coating.
GORE-TEX® Performance Shell outerwear is waterproof, lightweight, durable and breathable. It’s designed to provide excellent, long-lasting performance in a wide range of conditions.

- Complete confidence Review by Mark T
OverallI've bought several wading jackets over the years and the true test is always the Fall trip with my crew on the Blackfeet lakes in NW Montana. Any day can be rain, snow, blizzard and temps are anywhere from 10-50F with always a lot of wind. (Take your 8Wt)Whether wading or boating all day fishing requires extreme performance from your jacket. Layer up accordingly but if your jacket isn't 100% waterproof in driving wind and rain you are going to be cold. This jacket is outstanding. The hood is perfect, comfortable, adjustable to any head gear, and soft where it needs to be. If you don't need it just stow it (without taking your jacket off) and the collar is comfortable and useable up or down. Complete confidence!

- Cold neck? Review by Matt J
OverallGreat Jacket, completely waterproof. Great for layering and looks great as a non fishing jacket. Did i mention that its COMPLETELY waterproof?
One drawback: I fish for steelhead 3-4 days a week on Great Lakes rivers....its very cold, very windy and very rainy.
I thought that the warm fabric on the neck collar would be great but its not. There is no drawstring like the wrist cuffs and/or hood.
That fabric on the collar is really warm (like the hand warmers) but without a way to cinch it tight, cold air and rain will quickly find its way to my core.

- Disappointed Review by Action jackson
OverallWell made, wind and rain proof, but not built to keep me warm in 30-40 degrees. More of a wind breaker and rain jacket than for warmth. On line description overstates the warmth factor.

Thanks for the feedback Action. We recommend wearing an insulation piece underneath since this is a shell.

- Awesome jacket, stay away from cheap imitations! Review by Bear
OverallLake fishing in the Pacific Northwest in the spring can be true test for any jacket. Do yourselves a favor and spend the extra money and stay away from the cheaper versions. The old saying "you get what you pay for" absolutely applies when it come to rain jackets

- great except for the collar and hood which is a deal breaker Review by Nevada
OverallThe jacket is well made and thoughtfully crafted with the exception of the collar and hood. There is no way to cinch the collar so it creates a funnel for water to seep into the jacket; a bad quality for a rain shell. I returned the jacket. Would love this jacket if it did not have the separate collar and hood configuration.

- Bombproof Fishing Jacket Review by Scott
OverallThe Guide Jacket was clearly designed by fishermen. Everything is well thought out from the pockets that are big enough to hold multiple fly boxes to the inner cuff that prevents water running up your sleeves. I have worn this jacket with layers at 10 degree's ice fishing, through multiple cold rain storms and last weekend at 60 degrees fishing for Red Fish in South Carolina. This is a durable jacket, designed for cooler weather fishing, in the warmer months I can see the need to use something different. For fall, winter and spring fishing you can not go wrong with the Guide. There is no doubt that this will keep you dry and the hood has to be the best hood I have ever had on a jacket. I spent 4 hours ice fishing in the rain the last weekend in March and stayed dry and warm. I was never once bothered by the hood, which seems to magically keep you covered and stay out of the way at the same time. While this is a wadding jacket, and thus a little shorter than some might be used to, I still find that it works to wear around town and provides good coverage. I am a GORE FishingTech and own a number of other outdoor rain coats, this has to be the best designed that I have used.

- Worth every penny! Review by Justin D.
OverallBeing from Upstate NY, I fish quite often in the rain and snow, so the 3-layer GORE-TEX is essential in keeping me dry. Being a gear tester for GORE, this jacket has not let me down! I especially love the two big front chest pockets to stow away fly boxes or other important gear, as well as the two built-in retractors. You can also cinch down the storm cuffs to keep water from entering the sleeves and the gathered waist also helps keep the bottom of the jacket tight to your body without being uncomforable. Overall, I highly recommend this jacket! Well worth the money!

- Great Bang for the Buck Review by D Heggart
OverallWhether I'm rowing for a client or fishing with friends, this jacket has been through some extreme weather from rain to snow. I'm on the Gore fishing tech team and bought this jacket after I got to try it out. I like the hidden zinger coils that I can stash when I'm rowing hard and not having my nippers flying back and forth. The inside wrist cuffs prevent line catching and weather blowing up the sleeve. Plenty of front pocket space. The back pocket can stash the fall run jacket so you can layer after you hiked a few miles to your run. I thought the hand warmer heater pocket was kind of foofoo until I bought a couple heat pack to see how it worked, It worked great when your hands are wet, numb and you put them into a warm pocket! I love that you can stash the hood, when deployed it fits great with a ball cap. My only input would be a little longer in the sleaves for those fully stretched out strokes on the oars. It was not a problem for every day wade fishing though. A great product I'll get years out of. Thanks Simms

- busted retractor Review by CC in NOCO
OverallJust out of box yesterday. Looks like a bombproof jacket. Arm pits do not have hardly any room for layering. Yet to wear it on the water. Pulled out the tool retractor under the right hand pocket to attach tool and it pulled right out and off of jacket. Real cheap and tacky feature of jacket. I hope to be impressed in the field or the post field review won't be so hot either. I expect quality from a $300 Simms product.
