GORE-TEX® Technology and Simms Gear
- Product Care
GORE-TEX® Outerwear Care:
Cleaning your GORE-TEX® garments regularly will extend the life of the product. It will also keep them breathable as dirt and oil can clog the GORE-TEX® membrane over time.
It is critical to wash jackets. Natural oils can damage the GORE-TEX® tape and adhesives causing a peeling effect.
Machine wash warm. Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
Remember to zip all pockets and close all Velcro cuffs before washing to prevent any damage caused by the machine.
Tumble dry on warm setting making sure not to use a high heat setting. Drying on warm will actually reactivate the DWR coating.
GORE-TEX® Performance Shell outerwear is waterproof, lightweight, durable and breathable. It’s designed to provide excellent, long-lasting performance in a wide range of conditions.

- Great so far! Review by Fontanaguides.com
OverallI have worn the Guide Jacket for a month or so and I am pleased with it! It seem to be a durable jacket that will last a good while. Keep you dry for sure. Two big front pockets on the chest a large pocket on the back and one stash pocket on the inside. All around happy!

- Like a portable tent Review by Coasterbrookie
OverallI tend to fish during the most ridiculous weather. I'd rather be on the water when others are sipping coffee at the local shop. I once had a self-proclaimed expert tell me "there's no reason to spend hundreds of dollars on Gortex. You fish maybe 6 days all year in the rain". So I guess I'm an exception? I think not. So I got this jacket because I fish in the rain ALL THE TIME!! Rain is a non-factor. This thing is like wearing a tent. Not bulky like a tent though. I absolutely love it.

- Overall great package Review by Hazza
OverallVery happy, this jacket is fantastic in the rain which is useful in Ireland (I particularly like the the high collar and zip to cover my face during major downpours) and the pockets are enormous. Biggest surprise was how good the ventilation was in the summer. Only fault I could say is that it is too light on insulation for spring fishing. The owner of my local tackle shop in his late 50s no longer fishes due to arthritis from standing in the pouring rain for 40 years!! Enough said, spend the money and you won't regret it.

- Good - bring back rear pocket Review by Reed
OverallI have an earlier version...the best features were the cuffs inside the coat to prevent line snags and the vertical zip waterproof rear pocket. The rear pocket enabled you to access it without taking off the jacket. Why did you stop making this jacket with the rear pocket???? If you put the rear pocket on it I will it.

- solid Review by L "mf" T
OverallI bought this jacket around '99 it was my second; the first was in '95. I still have the first I just grew a little bit in the mid section. This jacket has lived in my drift boat and truck possibles bag ever since. When the rain shows this jacket comes out, when the wind blows- this jacket comes out. When it's beer drinking time - well, you get the idea. The best memory I have is a trip on the Green that poured for 3 straight days. Between the 2 boats we had every brand of guide rain jacket imaginable. All 'wetted out' after day one but the Simms. They didn't have the new ones out when I bought this guy and someday I may try them but I don't know when it will be? This one keeps on trucking!

- Ok, needs improvement for 5 stars..... Review by Northeast Adventure Guides
OverallJacket would be much better if it had pit zips and better cuff system. jacket gets steamy hot when walking into mountain honey holes through the softwood. Cuffs keep water out but it is hard to get your hand out of the jacket when taking it off. Cuffs are also hard to cinch down. It does keep me dry and has a nice inside waterproof pocket to put your phone in. Billows pockets on chest are great, plenty of room. I am 190lbs and 5'11 a large was a great roomy but not bulky fit.

- Performance gear at its finest Review by Bear
OverallI waffled back and forth about buying this jacket for a couple of months. The first weekend after I purchased it, I went fishing only to face a Colorado spring day with sleet, snow and temps starting at 35 and dropping all day. I fished for eight hours and stayed dry and warm. Since, I've worn it on a couple of rainy occasions and it is dry, warm and comfortable. If it lasts as well as other Simms gear i have owned, it will be worth every penny I paid for it. So far, very impressed.

- Fantastic Jacket Review by John G
OverallWhen I heard my spring trophy stream trip could be a cold washout, I grabbed my old rain jacket out of the closet and figured I would grin and bear it. The day before we went out I visited the local fly shop and saw this Guide Jacket on the rack. I hemmed and hawed, tried it on and put it back a few times, then decided it might make the difference between a good day and "get me outta here!" I can tell you, I couldn't be happier with the decision! Next to the guide, this jacket made the day! The guide even said he was going to get one! Great job Simms!
