- Product Care
For proper cleaning of your footwear to descrease the likelihood of spreading Aquatic Invasive Species, please reference our CleanStream™ page.
If using in saltwater always clean and rinse to prevent corrosion.
Use a brush to remove dust and dirt. Choose an old vegetable brush or toothbrush. For maximum thoroughness, remove laces prior to cleaning. Use specialized boot cleaner, saddle soap or maybe a mild dishwashing soap with luke-warm water.
Do not use bar soap or detergents.
Do not place wet boots close to a heat source (fireplace, campfire, wood stove, radiator, heater, sunny windowsill) as this can weaken adhesives and cause materials to become brittle or shrink.
Dry using natural methods (air dry) and try to keep them out of the sun for long periods of time. Boots dry faster when positioned upside-down. If desired, stuff a sheet or two of newspaper into each boot to absorb moisture. Change the paper each hour.
If you see any mold on your boots, brush in a mixture of 80% water and 20% vinegar.
Over time the use of leather conditioners may provide increased water repellency and can prevent cracking and drying of the leather.
Store footwear in a place where temperatures are stable and normal. Do not store footwear in attics, garages, car trunks or any unventilated spaces.
Never put footwear in washing machine.
CleanStream™ is a design philosophy that runs through our line of wading footwear. While not specific to a product feature, this designation does indicate that the product includes features and/or materials that are more resistant to "hitch-hiking" organisms – have less exposed stitching, fewer ridges & pockets and utilize non-absorbent materials – all making the boots easier to inspect, clean and dry faster. All of these elements assist anglers in doing their part to prevent the spread of invasive species. For more information, please visit our CleanStream™ page or these organizations: www.cleanangling.org, www.protectyourwaters.net or www.tu.org.
The New VAPORTREAD™ is designed for the adventurous angler looking for an innovative piece of footwear that is both trail-ready and wading-ready perfect for accessing remote, prisitine backcountry fishing holes. The molded 3D footbed with arch support and ball flex aligns the foot for all day comfort and optimizes biomechanics. A molded TPU heel clip secures the heel and adds lateral stability for all day hiking and wading. The molded dual-density EVA midsole creates additional cushioning for hiking comfort and enhanced proprioception. Trying to reduce weight for the trail a molded, minimal TPU retentioin plate was hidden between the midsole and outsole to provide light weight cleat retention and to enhance proprioception. For long lasting traction on trails, slip resistance in water and toe protection, a revolutionized molded VIBRAM® IDROGRIP® rubber outsole with $MM self-sharpening multi-directional lugs was created.
Vibram® soles are built from the bottom up and are designed to overcome very specific obstacles on a variety of terrains. Vibram® invests heavily in research and development of products never overlooking even the most minute detail. Vibram® soles boast innovative compounds and technical sole patterns, specifically developed to meet the challenges of many different environments and applications. www.vibram.us

- Excellent light weight boot Review by maxfishing
OverallThis is an excellent light weight boot. It has exceeded my expectations after a year of hard walking and wading. Great fit! After one year - boots show very little wear. I expect to get at least another year. Thanks Simms for doing a great job for this kind of boot.

- Ongoing great performance Review by EileenH
OverallHave used these boots for a full year in extreme walking, hiking, wading conditions - about 100 days on river. They have remained comfortable, little wear and continued strong support with light weight benefits. No problems. Good solid product if you want light weight and durability. Hoping to get another trouble free year.

- Expensive Boot that Falls Apart Review by Kevin
OverallI got these boots in May of 2014 and they started to fall apart in just a few trips. They are now totally unusable and have been for months as the seams that hold the rubber toe cap on as well as the side walls longer exist. Gravel enters the boat from all sides and makes hiking and specifically wading very uncomfortable. On their last trip of use I actually had to duct tape them together, quite frustrating. I have had several Simms boats and waders in the past but these really didn't preform as advertised. I will say however they are very light and comfortable when new. As for a boot that cost $169.95 I was very disappointed in the overall performance and durability.
[Response from Simms Customer Care Team] - Hi Kevin. Please contact our repair center so we can evaluate the boot. We have a solid warranty and if our technicians find it is a defect we will take care of you.

- great boot, great price Review by Jordan
OverallI got the vapor boots in February and have put quite a few miles in them. I really like them so far. They are light and have plenty of ankle support, with a burly sole that seemingly stick to anything. plus the price was right. in my mind that makes them pretty hard to beat.

- fell apart at the seams in 8 trips Review by jeeves
OverallYes, these boots are are lightweigh and comfortable, but they can't stand any wading. The thread at the black rubber trim completely frayed out in 8 trips and the boots fell apart at the seams. This is my 5th pair of Simms boots and I see quality has completely ruined. My first pair lasted me almost 3 seasons, 4th pair lasted 1 season, and this one went rubbish in 8 trips. I don't expect a wading boot to last forever, but this is ridicolous. Simms is very close to bring to market the "One trip boot". I am done with Simms, thank you.
[Response from Simms Customer Care Team] - Thank you Jeeves. That should definitely not happen. Please contact our repair center and we'll see what we can do. 888-595-3570

- VAPOR BOOT - LIGHT WEIGHT & COMFORTABLE Review by BackcountryTrekking
OverallYou can wade and hike in these boots all day long and your feet will still feel great. I recently wore these boots hiking up into to the mountain streams and found them to be very comfortable the entire day. Wore them with the SIMMS Guard Socks, and a pair of Wool socks as my base layer. No Blisters! I normally wear a size 10.5 Shoe. Purchased the 11 size and was perfect when utilizing them with the above setup. Whenever I hike or go fishing, I usually air out my socks/feet if I'm taking a break of 15 minutes or longer. I will keep the blisters away and your feet will thank you. Great overall product and I would purchase again. Excellent value.

- So far, so good! Review by Stimbo
OverallI recently purchased the Vapors to replace another set of boots that disintegrated... I love these boots. They are light yet supportive and very tactile. I recently spent a week fishing on the Upper Sac River in Northern Cali. The hiking terrain is harsh and rugged, the river is slippery. My vapors did not fail me. I have been guiding in these boots regularly. I look forward to many days, months, hopefully years of use. Thank you!

- Almost perfect Review by Australian Fly Fisher
OverallThese are great boots and go perfectly with the G3 guide wader(in my opinion the best wader on the market). The great ankle support and grip tread make this a great choice particularly if you are trying to avoid the bulk of some of the larger designs.
Only one issue - the eyelet on one of the boots has popped after about 5 to 6 days of fishing. I'm very particular with my gear including cleaning and drying after use so I was very disappointed and surprised when this happened. I don't mind paying more for products manufactured in the USA to avoid this type of issue and encourage you to offer a USA manufactured premium boot.

- Excellent Review by Glade Creek Wyoming
OverallNeeded a new wading boot to cover miles of Wyoming backcountry. I'm very pleased with the vapors performance in and out of the water. Very supportive yet light weight. Lots of toe protection. Overall the best boots I've ever owned and I've tried em all.
