- Product Care
For proper cleaning of your footwear to descrease the likelihood of spreading Aquatic Invasive Species, please reference our CleanStream™ page.
If using in saltwater always clean and rinse to prevent corrosion.
Use a brush to remove dust and dirt. Choose an old vegetable brush or toothbrush. For maximum thoroughness, remove laces prior to cleaning. Use specialized boot cleaner, saddle soap or maybe a mild dishwashing soap with luke-warm water.
Do not use bar soap or detergents.
Do not place wet boots close to a heat source (fireplace, campfire, wood stove, radiator, heater, sunny windowsill) as this can weaken adhesives and cause materials to become brittle or shrink.
Dry using natural methods (air dry) and try to keep them out of the sun for long periods of time. Boots dry faster when positioned upside-down. If desired, stuff a sheet or two of newspaper into each boot to absorb moisture. Change the paper each hour.
If you see any mold on your boots, brush in a mixture of 80% water and 20% vinegar.
Over time the use of leather conditioners may provide increased water repellency and can prevent cracking and drying of the leather.
Store footwear in a place where temperatures are stable and normal. Do not store footwear in attics, garages, car trunks or any unventilated spaces.
Never put footwear in washing machine.
CleanStream™ is a design philosophy that runs through our line of wading footwear. While not specific to a product feature, this designation does indicate that the product includes features and/or materials that are more resistant to "hitch-hiking" organisms – have less exposed stitching, fewer ridges & pockets and utilize non-absorbent materials – all making the boots easier to inspect, clean and dry faster. All of these elements assist anglers in doing their part to prevent the spread of invasive species. For more information, please visit our CleanStream™ page or these organizations: www.cleanangling.org, www.protectyourwaters.net or www.tu.org.
The New VAPORTREAD™ is designed for the adventurous angler looking for an innovative piece of footwear that is both trail-ready and wading-ready perfect for accessing remote, prisitine backcountry fishing holes. The molded 3D footbed with arch support and ball flex aligns the foot for all day comfort and optimizes biomechanics. A molded TPU heel clip secures the heel and adds lateral stability for all day hiking and wading. The molded dual-density EVA midsole creates additional cushioning for hiking comfort and enhanced proprioception. Trying to reduce weight for the trail a molded, minimal TPU retentioin plate was hidden between the midsole and outsole to provide light weight cleat retention and to enhance proprioception. For long lasting traction on trails, slip resistance in water and toe protection, a revolutionized molded VIBRAM® IDROGRIP® rubber outsole with $MM self-sharpening multi-directional lugs was created.
Vibram® soles are built from the bottom up and are designed to overcome very specific obstacles on a variety of terrains. Vibram® invests heavily in research and development of products never overlooking even the most minute detail. Vibram® soles boast innovative compounds and technical sole patterns, specifically developed to meet the challenges of many different environments and applications. www.vibram.us
- So far, so good! Review by Stimbo
OverallI recently purchased the Vapors to replace another set of boots that disintegrated... I love these boots. They are light yet supportive and very tactile. I recently spent a week fishing on the Upper Sac River in Northern Cali. The hiking terrain is harsh and rugged, the river is slippery. My vapors did not fail me. I have been guiding in these boots regularly. I look forward to many days, months, hopefully years of use. Thank you!

- Almost perfect Review by Australian Fly Fisher
OverallThese are great boots and go perfectly with the G3 guide wader(in my opinion the best wader on the market). The great ankle support and grip tread make this a great choice particularly if you are trying to avoid the bulk of some of the larger designs.
Only one issue - the eyelet on one of the boots has popped after about 5 to 6 days of fishing. I'm very particular with my gear including cleaning and drying after use so I was very disappointed and surprised when this happened. I don't mind paying more for products manufactured in the USA to avoid this type of issue and encourage you to offer a USA manufactured premium boot.

- Excellent Review by Glade Creek Wyoming
OverallNeeded a new wading boot to cover miles of Wyoming backcountry. I'm very pleased with the vapors performance in and out of the water. Very supportive yet light weight. Lots of toe protection. Overall the best boots I've ever owned and I've tried em all.

- awesome Review by jerbear
OverallI got a pair in the last 1/2 of the season last year and guiding long days felt a little easier in these light weight and flexible boots . i dislike the heavy stiff boots that tend to shrink up every time they dry out i hope simms keeps these just as they are . and maybe add a thinner version for the skinny footed guys too ;)

After 6 days using these boots in Patagonia, I had to return to civilization and ouch! the leather urban shoes felt like bricks compared to these incredible Vapor Boots.

- Light, light and light! Review by Mike
OverallI have disliked the bulk and weight of a standard boot for years. These are light, more than conformable and are versatile enough for any river. What sold me in regards to the bulk - the footprint is smaller, i expected less grip and the need for studs - not so! If you want a more natural hike and wade to your fishing spot these will feel like your wearing a pair of hikers.

- Vapor boot meets the challenge Review by Eileen H
OverallI bought vapor boots after using a number of competing lightweight sticky bottom boots. Usually reluctant to purchase new products. Over the years, your competitors' boots do not last and are not comfortable for a day long walking up river corridors or fail on the all important sticky bottom technology. Fishing 100 days a year walking and wading in all terrain and river bed conditions in New Zealand. These boots are quite good- great fit, reasonably sticky and good solid traction. Perfect weight and support for these conditions. Test will be if they last more than a season. Will let you know.

- Light Weight Yet Great Support, Durable, Qualty Review by Lars
OverallI just got back from a week long fishing/hunting trip to Cold Bay, AK. Prior to my trip I was in need of a new pair of boots to go with my waders. Andy at Chicago Fly Fishing Outfitters recommended that I go with these Vapors because of the long distances we would be walking to get to our fishing locations and our hunting blinds. I thought they might be a little too light weight and not offer good support. I was wrong and I'm glad that I went with Andy's recommendation.
Durability - We were wearing our waders 12 hours in the day and as I say we typically were walking long distances through rugged terrain getting to the fishing sites and blind locations. The terrain was very rough and uneven through the tundra fields. I felt like I could have been walking in my best hiking boots and at the end of the week and they practically looked like I just took them out of the box. Clearly, these boots are well made and are going to hold up over the long haul.
Comfort - As well as these boots performed in tough conditions, I have to say that they performed every bit as well from a comfort perspective. Sometime when you want strong ankle and foot support you have to sacrifice a bit on the comfort end... not the case with these Vapors. I never once felt like I couldn't wait to get out of my boots or that I was not looking forward to putting them on.
Functionality - Well, they certainly work well when in use. They drain very well and keep crap out better than past boots that I have owned. The lacing system is standard which I like; why fix something that isn't broken. The clips for the wader cuffs are easy to hook up and better that just hooking the male clip on the cuffs into the boot laces. Little attention to details that Simms always gets right.
Summary - I couldn't be more pleased with my Vapors and they pair up well with my G3 Guide Stockingfoot waders.
