Product Care

The ability to block wind is inherent in the fabric. Proper washing will not affect its ability to block wind.

Turn item inside-out and machine wash warm with liquid detergent specifically for membrane clothing (available in specialist sports shops). Tumble dry cool, or hang drying is the safest.

Remember to zip all pockets and close all Velcro cuffs before washing to prevent any damage caused by the machine.

Do not dry clean, use bleach or fabric softeners.

It is better to care for the garment often with a little detergent than rarely with a lot of detergent.

  • Most anglers have experienced a windblown day on the water - many including rain, sleet or snow. Any one of these elements might be enough to drive you inside if you aren’t wearing the proper gear. WINDSTOPPER® fabrics include two key features to make your fishing experience more comfortable:
    - Total windproof protection. WINDSTOPPER® membrane blocks 100% of blowing wind. - All Simms WINDSTOPPER® fabrics feature DWR to keep water absorption to the absolute minimum - even with lofty fleece.

Best Fishing Glove Made Review by Ryan
Absolutely love these gloves. They slide on and off real easy. Using the foldover mitts is easy as pie, the elastic holders are genius. They dry quickly when wet and stay warm while wet. The Windstopper does its job quite well. I have no issues casting with them with a fly reel, spin reel, or casting reel. I even use them when snow blowing the driveway. They are light and compact and pack real easy, I take them everywhere. I have used them in cool summer mornings, pouring rain, dumping snow, on the bass boat or on a winter Steelhead river. These things preform. The only flaws are the durability. The stitching is coming undone on the ends of the fingers and my left glove stitching tore out where the Windstopper material meets the fleece leaving a quarter sized hole. Hooks tend to get stuck in the fingers easily. Line likes to find its way wrapped up in the mitt as well. Overall small things I can live with or repair. Only glove I'll ever buy or recommend, my Dad even got a pair!

Good as they get Review by Serac
These are warm, dry, easy to use, light, and durable. No one makes mitts with this many useful features. Worth every penny when it gets cold.

Best fishing gloves out there, period. Review by Ryan
The thing that makes these gloves so great isn't that they are super warm, comfy, and durable, its that they are so easy to fish with. You can easily slide your index finger out of the fold over mit, and have full control of a fly line, spinning reel, etc; all while 95% of your hands are protected from the elements. I use these everywhere from guiding in Alaska in the summer, to late fall and early spring Lake Erie walleye fishing, and Ohio winter steelheading, they work great everywhere. For super cold days, add a hand warmer to the front pouch.

Best fishing mitts ever! Review by Ben - Alaska
These mitts are amazing. I have fished with them for over two years and they are still as good as the day they were purchased. Add a liner under them and they are good to single digit temps.

Very nice gloves Review by Mountaindave - Kalispell
I've used these gloves for the last two winters in a variety of situations. The Windststopper material does its job. I love being able to use all fingers whenever necessary. These gloves go with me everywhere. The unique band to hold down the mitten works far better than velcro - it keeps the mitten down and doesn't wear out. I particularly love these gloves for cold-weather bird hunting. The woven outer shell fends off burs and bits that normally snag in fleece. I can comfortably hunt down to the teens and I have hunted in temperatures below zero by adding a polypropylene liner glove. I've not used the warmer-pocket, but I have used stick-on warmers inside the mitten with great success. Bottom line: these gloves keep you warm without bulk or restricting dexterity. The only thing that could make them better would be some gripping surface on the palm.

Windstopper Mitt Review by ICHItheKILLER - Seattle WA.
These work very well for warmth and do block the wind. I used these while fishing for steelhead in light rain. I could cast and reel in with no problems with the thumb and finger mitt tucked into straps. I tripped in river while wadding and put my hand out to support me on a submerged rock and gloves got soaked, my hands froze so I had to take them off. I haven't tried the hand warmer holders there was no need the gloves were warm and I do have poor hand circulation. I wear the large size and extra large fits the same on me. I will buy another pair.

Awesome Mitts/Gloves Review by Matthew C. - Port Moody, BC, Canada
I have always suffered with poor circulation in my fingers and with cold weather, it makes tying on a fly virtually impossible. Since getting these gloves, my hands stay much warmer and once I flip the mitts over to cover my fingers, they warm back up quite quickly. The heater flap is the key for me to keep a warm heating pad firmly in place. They do not in any way inhibit my ability to cast or strip line off quickly. They are very comfortable. I highly recommend these gloves and think of them as important as my flybox in cold weather.

Pro Team Member Review by Roger - Cheyenne WY
As a guide in WY I have use for gloves in windy cold weather. Simms Wind stopper fold over Mitt fits most all the qualities I need in keeping my hands warm for 8 hours. Coverage from the wind, functionality of my fingers and protection from the elements when enjoying my clients battling fish. Not to mention the convenience of adding warmers to the Mitt for extra warmth. I have 3 on me at all times because when fishing in nasty weather gloves do get wet.
