  1. Comfortable

    100%

I fish in southern Louisiana where the temps are often in the 30’s for the boat ride out and warm up quickly to 60’s by mid afternoon. Love this gear because it’s so versatile and comfortable. Also has plenty of features like the wipe down rag for my glasses in the front pocket. Foggy days this jacket performs like no other I’ve tried and I highly recommend this professional piece of equipment. Get it with the bibs to complete the set and you’ll be happy you did.
  2. Not waterproof!

    60%

This is my third set of Simms waterproof gear. Previously I have gone through 2 sets of Pro Dry Bib and Jacket with about 900hrs of use each pair. The Biggest issue with the Pro Dry is the pockets get wet and the pants have minor leaks because of the full-length zippers as they tend to fold into a cup shape down towards the leg by the boot. Overall, they are pretty good jackets aside from the full-length pant zipper.
For my next set of rain gear I decided to try the Challenger and see how it stacked up, after all the price is right. Sad to say these jackets don’t even come close to the Pro Dry. If you knee down on a wet boat deck to remove a hook from a fish or whatever you will start to get moisture coming into the knee area. If you sit on a wet seat for more than a couple minutes it’s the same problem. After about 2-4 hours of heavy rain the jacket will start to weep, especially in the arms and shoulder area. Great looking product, super comfortable to wear but not as advertised. The challenger is Perfect for light rain 1-2 hours max and light use, great shell as protection from wind BUT not 100% waterproof (in my experience)! I see some positive reviews so perhaps I’ve got a bad set of gear but I only have about 50 hours of use so far and noticed issues about 2 days into using the challenger set. Just my 2 cents. Thanks
  3. Challenger Series Rain Gear

    100%

I've spent many comfortable hours in this jacket.
I treated it with permethrin when the ticks were really bad, it also knocked back the mosquitoes. I wore this on the streams with no one else around on rainy days and in the turkey blind every weekend in May. Layered appropriately - this is one bada@# jacket. I see myself wearing it until the zippers fall off. Flyfishing - Spring Turkey - Fall Bowhunting in the rain.
  4. Great Fit and love it!!

    100%

Bought this with the bibs for the wet Washington State weather and have used both while clamming and surf fishing during torrential down pours. Kept me dry during the whole day!
  5. Great fit and overall design.

    100%

Oregon winters are wet and cold. The Rogue river is full of Steelhead and the fishing is often weather driven. It's nice to go home after windy, snow, and rainy dry. Enough said.
