"In a world dominated by clicks, views, and likes, the most impactful experiences in life are the ones that are real."

PIG FARM INK is an organization started in 2011 to build strong fly fishing/outdoor communities by providing creative experiences.

The PFI Farmageddon Tour will head across the nation in approxametly 3 legs to build stronger, self-sustaining outdoor communities via fun and exciting Pig Farm events. With a loose schedule, the PFI founders will find ways to get to each destination, meet new friends, and plan events on the run. Using the power of social media, and their network of Pig Farmers, PFI's path will ultimately be determined and followed by their fans.

The Farmageddon Tour will begin in June and is scheduled 3 legs; Rocky Mountains, Midwest, and Northeast with more stops added as the requests come in. In order to be qualified, each location needs to provide opportunities for:

  • Community Development
  • Unique Outdoor Experiences
  • Pig Farm Events
  • Interesting Stories

FARMAGEDDON 2018 TOUR EVENTS

6.1 Taos, New Mexico

A favorite trait of the Pig Farm across the nation is the people who get involved in it. They are the builders of community and almost always unsung as they beat a slightly out of tune drum to the groove of getting outside. Against cell phones, the internet, and video games it’s an uphill slog and they always turn out to be interesting, and fun folks fighting a good fight.

One of these folks is a fellow we met up with at the start of the Rocky Mountain Tour in Taos New Mexico. His name is Spencer Siem and he’s got a very cool story. We finally got a chance to fish and help him build his community through Iron Fly. (Picture Iron Chef meets fly tying and getting the spectators at the bar participating but with more adult beverages and laughing). Farmer Spencer is a fly fishing guide and Atlantic Salmon tier that years ago sent one of his clients across the world in search of stolen endangered bird pelts from the natural history museum. The story is recently chronicled in a hot book called The Feather Thief. It’s books like this that get fly fishing in front of folks that might never give it the time of day. Check out the book and the interview below.

6.3 Durango, Colorado

Our 25mph uphill assaults on the mountain foundations has given us enough time to find what’s important. The people we are meeting and the folks in the bus have become fast friends and it’s pretty special to find un-populated trout waters on the way. It’s slow up the passes and that gives us the perfect tempo to make great friends for life.

As soon as we met Farmers Robby and Jimmy who are all around great dudes and fishing guides at Duranglers, we were greeted with some smoked meats, cold drink, and a stack of new folks to meet for he event. Iron Fly was on the menu and new fly tiers was the main ingredient. Dinner was good and fishing the next day made for an Animas river dessert. Stoked to see what the Pig Farmers in Grand Junction have in the pantry for tomorrow!

6.5 Grand Junction, Colorado

Grand Junction has been throwing Iron Fly events for three years in a row now with the help of Farmer Ben from TU and the local fly shop Western Anglers. We figured we could check out their community and show ‘em a bit of what we’ve learned over the last few years. To start we figured drinks were in order.
