With a unique guiding style and a specialty of “fishing where there ain’t nobody”, Dan “Rooster” Leavens has been a Simms Ambassador for the past 12 years. During this time, he has also been a key member of Simms’ R&D team and has field-tested too many products to count. Rooster believes that in order to pay the bills as a guide, you have to actually get out there and guide year round — a stance he backs up with his calendar. Between outfitting for Montana Trout, guiding for steelhead on Washington's Olympic Peninsula and all over Southeast Alaska, he spends over 250 days a year on the water each year.
As if a rigorous guide schedule didn’t keep him busy enough, he has recently incorporated hosted fly-fishing trips into his annual routine to destinations such as Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, Panama and the Mississippi Delta region. If Rooster’s face looks familiar, it’s probably because you’ve seen him featured in virtually every fly-fishing magazine on the shelf. In order to brand his business further, Rooster also appears at numerous fly-fishing shows, clubs and other speaking engagements across the country. READ MORE
