Director of Specialty Sales

Reporting to the VP of Sales & Service, the Director of Specialty Sales is responsible for maximizing the revenue performance of Simms’ most strategic and sizable portion of the business, leading the independent sales team and dealer service team to achieve annual sales plans across North America.

This position will drive the development and execution of Simms’ distribution strategy at specialty retail, including expansion into new sales channels; ensure effective sell-in for both existing and new products; and represent the voice of the sales force through the Reps Advisory team and specialty retail customers in the development of product, pricing, and marketing strategies.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans and programs to achieve revenue and margin goals. o Evaluate and update plan for aggressive expansion into growth/new channels
    • Evaluate geographic regions, determine greatest opportunities for growth, and implement strategies to achieve
    • Establish detailed distribution policies, including brand and product placement o Represent Simms in key account discussions at trade shows and other planning meetings
  • Provide thorough insights from the Sales Representatives & Retailers to the internal teams in product, as it relations to pricing, distribution, and marketing decisions.
    • Recruit, coach, and mentor a world-class Sales Force to support the brand’s seasonal and long-range business objectives
    • Partner with Customer Service to ensure high levels of account service o Lead Sales Meetings, including creation of agenda and sell-in story /presentations
  • Proactively engage Sales Representatives and retailers in early stage planning of product and market strategy
    • Manage and motivate sales force to achieve annual revenue targets o Create annual sales plans by channel, and update forecast regularly
    • Define, launch, and manage distribution strategy for each specialty channel • Analyze performance vs. plan, and coordinate with regions and sales reps to achieve results
    • Identify sales growth opportunities and challenges, and Lead the sell-in cycle (GTM launch), generally twice annually and address as appropriate
    • Generate regular updates for reps, for inclusion in communications issued by Customer Service
    • Meet with key accounts as needed • Work with Dealer Service Manager, a direct report, to ensure Simms delivers the highest levels of service to retail accounts, lodges and guides
  • Support regional promotions, co-op marketing programs, training events o Establish close out strategies
    • Drive development of custom products for accounts
  • Lead the development of sales programs and materials, includes workbook and trade show booth; merchandising/POS; clinic training materials and specials
  • Evaluate ROI on sales programs, promotions, and other initiatives while managing the specialty channel gross margin
  • Proactive alignment with the National Accounts Sales Director to plan around channel conflict and to ensure an appropriate level of staff support & training within retail locations

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, sales/marketing or related field
  • 10+ years of sales experience, preferably in the fishing and/or outdoor industry
  • 5+ years in sales management with a proven track record of driving profitable growth with strategic accounts
  • Proven ability to analyze market conditions and respond with appropriate strategies and direction
  • Experience managing national sales rep force to achieve growth goals while preserving brand value and premium market position
  • Proven ability to drive and manage change effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization. Cross-functional leadership capability
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Sales Manager, National Accounts

The Simms organization is growing and we’re looking to fill the Sales Manager, National Accounts position. This is a full-time, in-house position – based in Bozeman, Montana.

The Sales Manager, National Accounts is responsible for driving sales and profitability through engagement with national accounts. This role will drive growth through existing national account partners and by identifying new strategic accounts.

Outcomes of this role include:

  • Demonstrate growth in sales revenue, addressable spend and engagement thru consistent application of a key account management process, metrics & tools including corporate pricing agreements, strategic account plans, quarterly business reviews, value stream mapping, etc.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize opportunities through an understanding of the corporate account culture & key decision makers
  • Develop professional credibility and position Simms as a strategic partner with senior-level decision makers and influencers (corporate management, global sourcing management, and tech center management) aimed at growing across all categories
  • Direct and help perform voice-of-the-customer research to define and assess segment opportunities
  • Work with appropriate channel partners and cross-departmentally to develop strategies that align Simms values with customer needs and opportunities

Successful candidates should possess: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an account manager preferably for an outdoor apparel brand
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze account specific needs to develop and implement a strategic plan and to grow business
  • Strategic selling skills with a command of value-added sales techniques

Graphic Designer

The Simms organization is growing and we’re looking to fill the role of Graphic Designer. This is a full-time position based in Bozeman, Montana. In this role, you will leverage brand guidelines and visual centers to design and adapt creative executions for digital, traditional and retail settings.

Simms’ creative team sets the tone for dynamic brand experiences and consumer connections across all aspects of the business. The Graphic Designer will assist in the development of marketing assets for all Simms channels. While managing the day-to-day design needs, you will partner with internal and external design stakeholders to deliver a premium brand experience.

E-commerce Technology Manager

The Simms organization is growing and we’re looking to fill the position of E-commerce Technology Manager with a specialty in Cloud E-commerce with Magento. This is a full-time, in-house position based in Bozeman, Montana.

In this role, you will be a leader on the IT team and will be responsible for the functionality, support, and optimization of Simms customer facing and backend technology platforms.

The role will work closely with both technical and business staff to maintain a high performing optimized technology environment that drives process improvement.

Outcomes of this role include:

  • Leads all aspects of the e-commerce technical environment and responsible for the technical function of the Simms web environments; has dotted line reporting accountability to EVP Marketing via Director of E-Commerce
  • Leads significant enterprise projects and operational activities pertaining to the cloud/e-commerce/backend environment
  • Produces a reliable, stable, up-to-date, high performance E-Commerce environment
  • Effectively translates business rules, requirements, and customer experience needs into concrete and meaningful information for the business and functional assets in the e-commerce space

  • 3+ years of experience in an e-commerce team leadership role
  • 7+ years of experience in e-commerce systems administration/engineering/development experience and a strong understanding of cloud and e-commerce/B2C/B2B systems and their application to the business environment is required. Magento experience is a plus (MCSS or equivalent preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience managing both cloud based and Co-lo based hosting environments and services
  • 4+ years of experience with E-commerce analytics tools such as Google Analytics, New Relic, Dynatrace, etc.
  • 3+ years of experience with E-commerce to backend middleware/integration (iPaaS experience preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience administering MSSQL and MySQL preferred

The mission of the Wader Production Team is to produce high quality waders. Roles may learn the production processes in the Pressing, Sewing/Taping, Attachment/Boot Building and/or Testing and Packaging area.
