Director of Specialty Sales

Reporting to the VP of Sales & Service, the Director of Specialty Sales is responsible for maximizing the revenue performance of Simms’ most strategic and sizable portion of the business, leading the independent sales team and dealer service team to achieve annual sales plans across North America.

This position will drive the development and execution of Simms’ distribution strategy at specialty retail, including expansion into new sales channels; ensure effective sell-in for both existing and new products; and represent the voice of the sales force through the Reps Advisory team and specialty retail customers in the development of product, pricing, and marketing strategies.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans and programs to achieve revenue and margin goals. o Evaluate and update plan for aggressive expansion into growth/new channels
    • Evaluate geographic regions, determine greatest opportunities for growth, and implement strategies to achieve
    • Establish detailed distribution policies, including brand and product placement o Represent Simms in key account discussions at trade shows and other planning meetings
  • Provide thorough insights from the Sales Representatives & Retailers to the internal teams in product, as it relations to pricing, distribution, and marketing decisions.
    • Recruit, coach, and mentor a world-class Sales Force to support the brand’s seasonal and long-range business objectives
    • Partner with Customer Service to ensure high levels of account service o Lead Sales Meetings, including creation of agenda and sell-in story /presentations
  • Proactively engage Sales Representatives and retailers in early stage planning of product and market strategy
    • Manage and motivate sales force to achieve annual revenue targets o Create annual sales plans by channel, and update forecast regularly
    • Define, launch, and manage distribution strategy for each specialty channel • Analyze performance vs. plan, and coordinate with regions and sales reps to achieve results
    • Identify sales growth opportunities and challenges, and Lead the sell-in cycle (GTM launch), generally twice annually and address as appropriate
    • Generate regular updates for reps, for inclusion in communications issued by Customer Service
    • Meet with key accounts as needed • Work with Dealer Service Manager, a direct report, to ensure Simms delivers the highest levels of service to retail accounts, lodges and guides
  • Support regional promotions, co-op marketing programs, training events o Establish close out strategies
    • Drive development of custom products for accounts
  • Lead the development of sales programs and materials, includes workbook and trade show booth; merchandising/POS; clinic training materials and specials
  • Evaluate ROI on sales programs, promotions, and other initiatives while managing the specialty channel gross margin
  • Proactive alignment with the National Accounts Sales Director to plan around channel conflict and to ensure an appropriate level of staff support & training within retail locations

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, sales/marketing or related field
  • 10+ years of sales experience, preferably in the fishing and/or outdoor industry
  • 5+ years in sales management with a proven track record of driving profitable growth with strategic accounts
  • Proven ability to analyze market conditions and respond with appropriate strategies and direction
  • Experience managing national sales rep force to achieve growth goals while preserving brand value and premium market position
  • Proven ability to drive and manage change effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization. Cross-functional leadership capability
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Extensive travel required.

Digital Merchandising Manager

The Simms organization is growing and we’re looking to fill the Digital Merchandising Manager position. This is a full-time, in-house position based in Bozeman, Montana.
The primary role of the Digital Merchandising Manager is to develop and execute Simms’ digital merchandising strategy on simmsfishing.com. to ensure the business achieves its ongoing sales targets. Site merchandising work will revolve around allowing consumers to find what they’re looking for, bringing marketing campaigns to life, supporting the brand, monitoring and reporting consumer, product and campaign performance ROI and ultimately inspiring, engaging and delighting consumers with memorable Simms shopping experiences.

Outcomes of this role include:

  • Own and drive merchandise for simmsfishing.com, taking a customer-centric viewpoint to help shoppers find and purchase what they need and desire, including site taxonomy, categories, search and search results, and other site experiences
  • Define and deliver merchandise planning and revenue reporting for online channels
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to define and execute online campaigns and promotions
  • Analyze consumer behavior data and take actions and make recommendations for optimizing the merchandising mix, presentation across the site experience
  • Ensure new product releases, promotions, brand messaging, etc, are developed and implemented on the site, including appropriate analytics tagging and reporting

Successful candidates should possess: 

  • Strong understanding of digital landscape (online merchandising, digital marketing, web development) and how to translate that into increasing business. Ability to generate innovative insights from analysis, communicate results effectively, and work with business partners in developing and implementing new programs to drive results
  • Excellent project management and organization skills: self-directed and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple projects and adhering to tight and demanding deadlines
  • Intuitive grasp of customer and a drive to impact and satisfy customers
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or other related field
  • Minimum 5 of relevant experience in ecommerce merchandising with proven success

IT Integrations Manager

The Simms organization is growing and we’re looking to fill the position of Information Technology Integrations Manager. This is a full-time, in-house position based in Bozeman, Montana.

In this role, you will be leader on the IT team and will be responsible for the functionality, support, and optimization of Simms integration and middleware environment.

The role will work closely with both technical and business staff to develop and maintain high performing and highly available enterprise business systems.

  • Effectively translates business rules, requirements, and customer experience needs into concrete and meaningful information for the business

  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience is required
  • 4+ years’ experience managing and leading teams is required
  • A mastery of commonly used integration concepts and functions such as API’s, EAI, ETL, REST, XML, web services, OData/OAuth, JSON, SOAP, data/message mapping, routing and orchestration, service abstraction, Microservices, EDI, Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), Service Fabrics, and middleware; and can leverage these concepts to execute optimum integration solutions for the enterprise
  • An understanding of Master Data Management and its value and importance to the business, along with an understanding of the role that integration plays in MDM
  • 5+ years direct hands on experience with automated integration tools such as CastIron/AppConnect, BizTalk, LogicApps, Boomi, Mulesoft, Snaplogic, or Informatica is required
  • Extensive SDLC knowledge and iterative and agile development processes such as SCRUM, RUP, KANBAN, or similar
  • Extensive experience working with and integrating core enterprise software applications, including major CRM and ERP applications – Dynamics Navision experience is a plus
  • MSSQL, SSAS, SSRS, or PowerBI experience is preferred
  • Software development experience is a plus
  • Experience with Sharepoint Administration or development is preferred
  • Familiarity with contemporary technology and social paradigms such as SMAC
  • An in depth understanding of common business and accounting concepts such as inventory, order flow, sourcing, supply chain, product lifecycle, marketing, and sales lifecycles

The Simms Production team is growing and we’re looking to fill several Production Specialists roles. These are full-time, in-house positions based in Bozeman, Montana.

The mission of the Wader Production Team is to produce high quality waders. Roles may learn the production processes in the Pressing, Sewing/Taping, Attachment/Boot Building and/or Testing and Packaging area.

Outcomes of this role include:

  • Embraces the concepts of cross training and lean manufacturing
  • Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors regarding issues that affect the production of waders
