GORE-TEX® Wader Care:

The #1 tip to prolonging the life of a wader is drying your waders. It is important to dry your waders out after each use. We recommend drying the inside first (if damp) and then the outside. When drying the outside you can pull your gravel guards up until the feet are dry and then flip them down to dry the rest of the wader

Washing - Use a front load machine or hand wash. Use cold water and normal detergent that does not contain bleach. Once you have washed the waders make sure you dry them properly start by drying the inside first. Never put your waders in the dryer, the heat will adversely affect the seam tape on your waders and will void your warranty.

Fit - We offer more sizes than anyone, a good fit goes a long way to extending the life of your wader. Make it clear that people should use their exact measurements as we have already provided extra room for layering and movement.

General Care - Do not store inside your car for long periods of time excess heat will damage your waders.

Use A Mat - Always put your waders on using a protective mat to shield the neoprene feet from rocks. The Headwaters gear bag for example has a pull out mat that works great for this.

Proper Layering - Do not wear jeans under your waders. Jeans are highly abrasive wearing on your waders from the inside out. More importantly jeans and sweatpants do not transfer moisture away from the body. Use proper layering (to view our layering collection, go here). Using layers such as these will help wick moisture away from your body and assist in the waders ability to breathe.

Stains - most stain removers will work fine on our waders. As long as the stain remover does not contain bleach you should be o.k.

G3 GUIDE STOCKING FOOT

John Sickenius, 6/4/2017

The sizing chart is very accurate and the waders fit and feel great!

To repair or not?

Scott, 2/6/2017

So I couldn't remember exactly when I bought my current pair of waders so I went back through my picture catalog and have determined that sometime in 2007 I bought my current G3 waders. I'm pretty sure from blowing up the photos that there was a G3 emblem on the waders claps at one time. The labels are pretty faded on the inside of them as well. So this is all form old photos. The first 3 years I owned these waders I fished 3-4 days a week and did several ducks hunts a year in them with one or two week vacations to fish for Atlantics in Canada or Steelhead out west. I took one year off with a move and since then I have used them for snipe and duck hunting 40-50 days a year minimum. This is harder on the waders as its through sawgrass, dead pepperwood fields, cypress knees, and all other manner of rocks, woody debris, and everglades type habitat.

At this point, the tape is finally wearing off the seams in the boots. I lost the clasp on the right side gravel guard on my second snipe hunt this season, so I have to retie that boot after every few miles of walking on snipe hunts. Also, the velcro on the front pocket is finally starting to separate from the waders, yeah there was no zipper on that model in 2007. Otherwise the waders are doing great and if I could get the seam tape replaced and maybe that gravel guard clasp replaced I'll just keep wearing them. I did lose an iPhone 6 this year because I hadn't zippered up the inside waterproof pocket and the waders do leak when you go deeper than about four and a half feet into a canal, but I expected that, not a defect on the part of the waders just the operator.

I tell everybody I duck hunt with to buy Simms waders because most of them can't get two seasons out of a pair of waders that cost $200 or more a pair.

Would the more thorough repair option get me some new seam tape and a new gravel guard clasp?

Most comfortable waders I've used

Francisco , 11/4/2016

I purchased a pair of G3s to fish in Chilean Patagonia. So far they've served with distinction in every aspect. Breathability is excellent, thus providing good protection from the cold; it fits perfect and is very comfortable for long walks. The only thing that I tend to miss in my G3s is a full heavy-duty waterproof chest pocket.

$100.00 per week failure

Salmon Catcher, 3/28/2016

Five weeks of moderate to heavy use in a pair of G3 waders and they were pretty much shredded.

If you're away fishing the 30 day policy doesn't really count and having to return them as soon as you return home doesn't make sense. Disappointing. Trying to patch them in the bush with whatever was on hand was no fun either. I'm sure I could've bought a used car that would have been more durable and lasted longer.

not buying anymore simms

ripped off, 1/23/2016

bought a pair of g3s and fished them for 4 years. sent back for repair once in the first year, was satisfied. due to leaks in stocking foot seams they have been set on the back burner for the last year. when i sent them in this winter for repair i was told they were not repairable and no replacement options were given to me. how much more use would i have gotten from 2 $160 pairs of redingtons?? not satisfied with simms at all. selling a logo rather than a quality product with quality customer service attatched.

Best waders around

Montana Mike, 1/16/2016

I'm on my fourth pair of G3 waders over the last 20 years. Dollar for dollar these are the best waders on the market. I usually get about 5 years of fishing on each pair with an average of one fishing trip per week. G3 waders are durable, comfortable and well-sized. The only problem I've had with this wader has been my own fault (barbed-wire fences, cigar burns). Expensive? yes. Worth it? absolutely.

Happy Now - Update on 12/12/2014 Bad Review

Anthony, 11/17/2015

Simms customer service was very good after receiving my complaint about a tear in G3s with modest use- about 6 times. They were polite, arranged repair, thoroughly examined and repaired the small tear in 5 layer portion of waders. Many uses since 12/2014 problem (2-3x/week) and no problems. Waders are comfortable in hot and cold conditions and easier to put on/take off than others. Since I like having 2 pairs of chest waders, I just recently bought the G4Z and they are great thus far. If Simms customer service had not been so accommodating, I would not have plunked down the big bucks for this second pair!

Soooo disappointing

sandy, 11/6/2015

I bought the new version of this wader in Sept of 2014 hoping to get a few seasons out of them. After a few trips I started to notice after an hour or so in the water my legs felt damp starting in the crotch area. I lived with this until Aug 2015 when i tore a legitimate hole in a knee against a rock and sent them in for the one year check up. 3.5 weeks later my waders returned to me with the hole patched, booties replaced, and many pinholes aqua sealed at no charge. On the next outing I still had dampness starting in the crotch area and noticed that the diamond shaped crotch panel seemed to be saturated with water. I contacted Simms and they are currently back there being evaluated. This will mean that in the 14 months of ownership of these waders, they will have spent around two of those months being repaired. I can't think of a reason why $500 should only get you partially dry performance within the first year. The tear was my fault, but the dampness has been present for a while, and judging by the number of aqua seal spots inside the wader from the first repair trip as well as the replacement of the booties, this material seems very flimsy. I am now in my 7year old pair of WJ waders, that have never leaked, until I get my better fitting Simms back. I am hoping that I will hear that there is something defective with my pair because the performance they have provided equals on of the worst hobby related purchases I have made in my life.

Best on the market

Josh, 11/1/2015

Bought the G3's exactly one year ago, and have tortured them in the wyoming back country and countless hours rowing. The g3's have stood up to everything and still shine every day
Great product for the serious fisherman.

Not what I expected from Simms

WaistDeep, 10/25/2015

I have always felt Simms produced the best gear for wading and you could always count on their products doing what they were designed to do but these waders have let me down twice!

The first pair of waders had to be returned because the stocking foot was leaking and Simms honored their 30 day return policy but I was without waders during the time of year that I needed them the most. The 2nd pair of waders has only been worn a handful of times since last fall and now I'm trying to find leaks in the chest area. Once again the fishing is heating up and I'm having to send the waders back to be fixed, not what you expect when paying a premium for what you thought were a top of the line product.

What has happened to the bullet proof waders that everyone said these were?

[Response from Simms Customer Care Team]
Thanks for the straightforward review. At Simms, we have the best wader warranty in the business and we stand behind our products. Inside of the first year of ownership, your first repair is on the house. Please contact our Repair Team at 855-467-4667 or [email protected] to initiate the Repair process.
