Toray® fabric technology was developed specifically for fishing waders. The QuadraLam™ fabric featured in the Freestone® wader is a heavy-duty engineered fabric with a micro-porous waterproof coating that utilizes 2-layer coated fabric, a single membrane layer and a tricot backer to offer improved durability.
All Simms outerwear features nylon YKK® zippers to minimize corrosion and provide high performing, durable wear.
Wader CareThese waders are breathable though not as breathable as GORE-TEX®. They do not have the same properties as GORE-TEX® and therefore finding pinholes will not be possible using the alcohol test. Care for all Simms waders as you would a GORE-TEX® wader. Make sure to dry them out after use and do not wear jeans, and never use a dryer to dry them.
We are not able to replace the feet on these waders. We are only able to put custom feet on GORE-TEX® waders.
Washing - Use a front load machine or hand wash. Use cold water and normal detergent that does not contain bleach. Once you have washed the waders make sure you dry them properly start by drying the inside first. Never put your waders in the dryer, the heat will adversely affect the seam tape on your waders and will void your warranty.

Great waders for the price. top is to tight fitI tried several brands over the years, mostly Orvis but gave up on them after several leaks in brand new Encounter waders. I've used the Freestones about 5 times now and no problems. I wish the top was a little bigger. Winter now and three layers on and I can barely get the waders up my chest.
wadersI am a outdoor photographer and wear these every day during hunting season and the keep me dry and are durable. I have owned many pairs of wader brands over the years and these hands down are the best.
Worked GreatI've had the Freestone waders for three seasons and they have worked great. These waders have taken me from all across Wisconsin, to Western Montana, and all over Colorado. Can't complain with Simms!
Very DisappointedI thought $249 waders could last more than one year. I have high regards for the Simms brand name but these waders leaked and leaked. I don't want to be sending back waders and being w/o for 3 weeks. This prime season for fishing in the tribs. of NY.

GreatFirst pair of Simms waders and now I know why all of my buddies wear them. Love them and the warranty!
should of spent more $My waders are less than a year old and i waded 3xs this past winter. I noticed a wet area around the shin area. I didn't think much of it at the time, with my plans to just fix myself. It turns out it is the seam leaking over several inches. I will be sending back to Simms and see how well they get fixed.
One encounter with a blackberry bush and its over.Had these for 2 years. Used them all 4 seasons in oregon. Fishing upwards of 100 days a year wearing these. They started leaking after about 20 uses around the ankle area. Had to fix with aqua seal. Then over another 20 uses or so. They started leaking along the seam on the shins. By the second winter steel season I was wearing firehose pants and wool socks underneath my waders as a second water proof layer, my feet were swimming by the end of the day. Rather than sit out a month to get them repaired at peak season, I sprayed a clear sealant on the inside and they stopped leaking long enough to finish the season. But now they leak in all the motion areas. Mainly the crotch. Might as well wet wade. If you fish a lot and bushwhack to your spots. Get better waders. These do not hold up for the serious angler.
Almost Five StarsGreat, comfortable all-around wader. Only complaint is that if water gets into the hand warmer area, it leaks through the chest pocket and gets the contents of the chest pocket wet. Quite a significant design flaw...but that issue can easily be avoided by using a chest pack.
Now I know why!Fly fishing for many years and I've gone through several sets of budget priced waders. I could not see spending hundreds on waders. After a winter steelhead day I had had enough of with damp pants and wet feet. I broke down and bought Simms waders. Loved them. Then disaster struck 13 months later. I managed to put 3 small tears in the upper right leg. I decided to let the Simms do the repair even though they were out of warranty and I expected to pay for the repair. The RA process was a breeze and I had them back in less than 3 weeks. Not only did they fix the 3 tears, they found two pin holes I did not know existed. The tears were not just glued or a cheap patch. They added new fabric patches good as new. To top it off they repaired them free of charge and did not charge me return shipping. This is a quality product and a quality organization that knows how to treat it's customers. Now I know why you pay a little more. You get so much more. I'm a Simms believer.
rock and rollquality all ways,no matter what kind of product you buy .......
Do Not BuyAfter the first day of use these waders started leaking. It says that these waders cannot be fixed by Simms, what i understand only the ones made in the US so... Did i throw $300 to the trash?
I do not recommend these

Keeping Me Dry...As AlwaysI had a pair of Simms Gortex waders for something like 15 years and though they have the tiniest leak they look rough. So I opted to purchase a new pair. These Freestone waders are a great logical and economical choice. The reach thru hand warmer pocket is a nice touch and the external zipper pocket is great. I nice addition is the built in gravel guards. Love those.
I only gave it the 4 stars because of the lack of interior pocket. I am little confused on why they left out the interior pocket and made it an ad on item for an extra $24,95.
GreatSo far so good. I've been out on a few rivers for an approximate 20 uses. Everything is working well (as expected).
Well done!Bob Mitchell's Fly Shop in Lake Elmo, MN is the best!
Ok, with that out of the way......these waders are a fantastic value. For the price of these and the Freestone boots it was hard to pass up adding another fishing option.
The fit, quality and how they integrate with other Simms products is wonderful.
I have slogged around a few minimal access lakes for Musky, Northern and Bass with a fly rod....and I thought fishing out of my kayak was fun!
Holding up nicelyAfter using these waders in the surf through the spring and now into the fall, I've got about 30-40 trips in them and they still don't leak!
I've had such poor experiences with other brands leaking after a few trips.
Highly recommended. Just be sure to rinse them after each use.
Looks like a great waderI am new to fly fishing and was looking for a wader. I shopped on line and checked out all brands and prices. Shopped the sports stores and looked at all of them. Read reviews on web sites and finally bought the Simms freestone wader. They look to be the best made and price that I had saw. Tried them on at a sports store and the fit was really good. I had tried on other brands and they did not fit as good as the freestone wader. I will try these out this next week and see how they do. Will let everyone know then how they work for me.
Great price and productCan't get a better product for the price. As always Simms is superior to the rest.
Best bang for your buck!Thought I'd give a little insight to what you are not seeing in the pictures. The reach through hand warmer pocket is a great feature, and I'm able to stuff my GoPro in there plus small fly box when needed. The hooks on the gravel guards work nicely with my Rivertek 2 Wading Boots, the secure quickly to the small D-Ring on the boot. Also there is a zipper on the inside (chest area) where you can zip in a waterproof pouch conveniently produced by none other than Simms. This set of waders will get the job done, and you'll be happy with them.
Great bang for your buckI've used my new wades for one season now. They have been everything I hoped. The fit is far superb to my previous waders where I looked like a drift sock standing in the river. I regularly hike long distances through the woods and down sharp rock faces to get to the streams I target and have never had a issue. No leaks, great fit and a great company that stands behind its products. Sounds like a win to me.
