Championed by Simms' endorsed force of professional guides, the Mid Top is an all-season workhorse built for stalking the stingiest Henry's Fork sippers to full-bore on the oars. Take advantage of articulated elbows for a quick double-haul to the far bank, a zippered chest pocket for convenient storage, and classic ¼-zip styling for absolute on-off changeups. An updated fit uses durable 4-way stretch fleece fabric that bundles warmth, breathability, and wicking with full-range fishing mobility.

I have purchased three of these tops over the years, and they never fail in quality. (All 3 remain in good shape-- I just like the style/colors).
For my own testing purposes, I recently bought a Cloudveil equivalent top in the same price range. It completely pilled within 2 washings and looked like one of my grandpa's old tops that shouldn't be worn out of the house.
These tops never pill, and they retain their insulating qualities for years. It is not for the coldest of days, as any open skirt type top will let you feel really cold air. But it is perfection for the 10 out of 12 months of the year. Works well for road and mountain biking rides in the Fall in Colorado, as well.
KILLER TOP, and will continue to purchase.

Purchased the mid last spring from a fly shop in Arkansas. I initially got the large (didn't try it on). It fit a little loose in the neck area for my tastes. The next morning I returned it for a medium and couldn't be more happy. Reading the other reviews, the jury seems to be out regarding the sizing of this garment. I am 5'11" 165 lbs, with a slender, athletic build. I prefer my baselayers to have a snug fit and this fits the bill. The fabric is flexible, allowing free range of motion when casting, rowing, or netting a fish. In addition to comfort, it is warm, durable and looks just as good worn under waders or jeans at the bar spinning yarns about the fish you caught. I LOVE this garment. Home run, Simms...

This is a must in the harsh weather. The only knock I have, is that as a 6'5" 245llbs guy with big shoulders, it's a little tight in the upper arms/biceps area. I got the XXL and it's seams a little small, which is the case with most of the Simms tops. My girlfriend just got me the GorTex guide jacket and it to, is a little small in that area. I had to go up to the XXXL in that, just to fit this fleece top in the arm pit area. Now the coat is too big around the middle section. It's way better then getting the XXL though. Should work out though.

I love this fleece! It is very comfortable and is extremely warm.
The fit is great. As a guy with an athletic build I dislike clothing that is cut larger. I am 5'11" 170 lbs and the large fits well ( not loose or too tight, movement and casting are fine with this fleece).
Works well as layer or by itself. So I would say that you'll get three seasons worth of where at least. Might work for chilly summer morning too.
I highly recommend this garment .

Purchased one of these in Large a few months back and was impressed enough to buy another of course, though this time I purchased an XL. I assumed that purchesing an XL the shirt would be larger in all aspects but still keep "somewhat" of a slim fit that most of the Simms products normally have. Not so, in fact when I tried on my XL in comparison to my Large, I found that about the only thing that was larger was the mid-drift!.. Where I really wanted to see the increase in size was in length of torso and sleeves. Not so with the purchase of an XL.
Great warmth in this pullover, though needs to longer in the torso and sleeves in the XL size....

For this Alaska fisherman, hunter, skier, with a blue-collar background and habits, I hesitate to pay $80-$90 bucks just for a damn shirt, unless it is something special. This shirt makes the grade. Warm, stretchy, a pocket, hard-wearing, no pilling, dries super quick. I expect to the beat the crap out of this shirt wearing it for many years.
Noting other critiques below, I think Simms might have made some adjustments to lengthen the sleeve and body length. I'm 6'1" 180 longish "basketball" build. All dimensions on a size large fit me perfectly.

I ordered an XL an it fits perfect, slim in the mid section, great for Athletic build. Sizing info for buyers, I'm 5'10" 220lbs fits great, very happy with mid top. It's about time companies are getting up to speed on sizing for bigger guys not big guts. Good job Simms

I ordered this in a large going by the size chart, I am 5'8" 190Lb. when it came and I put it on it fit me too tight . I should have gotten the XL for fit in the body. It is a great quality But till I loose some weight this will set in the closet.

I like this top very much. That said it fit like a wet suit so I ordered up one size.

Purchased this top awhile back and I can't be more happy with with it. The quality is awesome and the fit is perfect. As a guy with an athletic build I dislike clothing that is excessively bulky. This top fits great is comfortable and is extremely warm. When paired with my Gore Tex jacket it becomes very warm and comfortable down to temps of 30deg for me. I can't say enough about the quality and comfort of this top. I live here in Alaska and the weather changes on a moments notice. I have found the top to work well by itself and very effective when used for what it was intended, layering.. In addition, if you should get it wet it dries very quickly. You won't be disappointed
