Simms should provide a refund to everyone who ever purchased these. They are 100% worn down after 2 days of fishing. They are useless and don't even protrude beyond the tread of my wading boot.

Lackluster performance

Trouter203, 11/22/2015

I bought a new pair of G3 boots over the summer and had these installed at the shop. The screw head is too short and if there is just the slightest bit of slime on the rock, you will be slipping. I am very disappointed with Simms over this design. Generally I think Simms products are engineered well, but I think I would have been better of not retiring my 8 yr old studded guide boots.

Very poor

Fisher, 10/25/2015

I bought two boxes of these very expensive screw in studs for my wife's boots. After a few outings - perhaps 8 hours in the water - most of the little hard pellets that were 'glued' to the screw heads are gone.
Now all that I have left is some smooth screw heads.

For the money that I paid for these, the performance and durability is shameful.

I would not buy again and I would recommend that you look for other solutions.

[Response from Simms Customer Care Team]

Thank you for taking the time do review this product. We recommend that you use a urethane sealant, such as Aquaseal, on the tip of the studs/cleats to ensure a lasting fit.

Worn out too soon.

craigspey, 12/18/2014

I first used Hardbite studs when they first came out for felt soles. They have been in three pair of boots now & still aren't worn out.

In September this year I got the newer set for the lug/rubber sole. They have started to ware out down to the screw head in only 2 months!

Work perfect

Nick, 9/24/2014

I installed these 9 months ago and they still work as well as they did new. Yes they have wear, but I fish five days a week. If you need more traction team these up with the Aluminum cleats.

Good studs that last

Rick, 8/24/2014

I've had these in the bottom of my Riversheds for 4 yrs and I'm in the river 50-60 days a year. I like that I can take them out for a drift boat ride (seldom have to do this as I usually bring a pad) and stick them back in to wade the slippery rocks. When they do finally start to wear down it's time to replace the boots anyway. Just picked up the 2014 G3 Guide boot and installed a new set. The compound used in the new boot should allow the studs to continue to work even when they start to wear down. Only time will tell.

Just an observation, two of these reviews open with how they installed the studs on "FELT BOTTOMS" even though they advertise them as being for the Vibrams. Silly people....

work great out west

Douglas, 1/10/2014

I have had a set in my boots for 4 years they are now worn down to the point I need to replace them.... but so are the boots. I have always been able to take them out ( for the boat ) and put them back in.. I fish a bunch of rivers from rocky freestone to tail waters. Great studs,

Not worth the trouble

Doug, 10/25/2013

They are too expensive and very hard to install. The tool provided is worthless.

good product

PA fisherman, 3/5/2013

I've gotten a couple years use out of one set of studs. With a couple hundred days of fishing both PA spring creeks and freestones, to salmon/steelhead fishing on lake Erie/Ontario tribs. I actually had to replace the soles before the studs. However, I am replacing the studs with the soles. I expect the same results.
