  1. Quality Bag 2 Features Short of 5 Stars

    80%

I purchased this bag from BackCountry.com to replace my 20-year-old Abel Wader Bag that served me well. My opinion of the Simms bag's pros and cons ...

    PROS
    High quality materials of construction
Good main compartment water resistance (DWR)
    Robust wader compartment waterproofing (TPU)
Great zippers with strong and ergonomic pulls
Superior design main compartment top access that prevents the Abel's shortcoming of gear you just packed spilling out while packing more items
Roomy end pockets to hold gear both for transit and temporarily while your digging what you need out of the main compartment
Comfortable grab handles at each end that are robust in both design and attachment to the bag. No handle failure worries while lifting the full weight of an overloaded bag
Good venting of both wader compartment and outer end pockets to reduce mildew and rotting
Superior rod tube holder loops that won’t slip or let go like the Abel’s Velcro ones
Unlike some Simms products this bag is a good value at its $200 price point

    CONS
    - Wader compartment lacks the Abel's fold out bib that serves as both a changing matt to stand on and a protective divider between your boots and waders when in transit
    - Lacks the Abel bag's long and shallow zippered pockets running the length of the front and back panels. Not sure what Abel's intended use was 20 years ago, but now that wading boots have interchangeable soles these pockets are perfect for storing my studded and felt soles will I'm using the rubber ones in a separate area where the studs can’t wear a leak into the waders

    SUMMARY
Overall a great bag and one I recommend. The bib and extra sole pockets would have been great features, but as they say you can't have everything (unless you buy a Canon "L" Lens).
  2. Perfect for a week of fishing

    100%

I bought this bag for a 6 day fishing trip to Chile able to fit my boots and waders in the bottom compartment that is vented, and the rest of my clothing (4 fishing shirts, a fleece jacket, two pairs of nylon pants, and all the accessories) fit with enough room for toiletries and a few fly boxes.

On top of all that, I carried my two rod simms tube and was able to easily stay within weight restrictions for my charter flights. Thanks Simms for another great piece of gear!!!

  3. like simms, don't like the bag

Got this as a present. I have waders and clothing from simms and love them. Not a fan of this impractical bag. Small dimensions are a negative for a 200 dollar gear bag. I'd rather have a bigger off brand one for half the price.
